Definition of Classes

RULES & REGULATIONSShow Regulations (abridged) A full copy is available on request

GENERAL 2. All shows will be run under The Kennel Club of Jersey Rules and Regulations.

SHOW ENTRY AND ELIGIBILITY 4. The age of all dogs and puppies shall be taken on the first day of the show.5. Subject to the exemption in Appendix 2, a dog cannot be entered if:- a ) totally blind b) totally deaf c) with cropped ears d) under suspension by the Committee. Should any dog be reported by a judge as suffering from any of the foregoing, the dog shall be disqualified from showing immediately and any awards at that show shall be forfeited.6. Dogs awaiting registration (RAF) or transfer (TAF) may be entered into a show, but only if accompanied by proof of application to the Registrar of the Kennel Club of Jersey (KCJ) or Guernsey Kennel Club (GKC), by close of entry. Entry to the Show Ring will only be granted to an exhibit once the Registrar is satisfied that all paperwork is in order and can issue a Registration Number. No refund of fees is offered should paperwork not be in order by commencement of showing.7. Entry forms for shows held by the Club shall contain, in full, the registered name of the dog, the date of birth, the names of the sire and dam. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure the accuracy of the information provided. The entry form to be signed in good faith by one of the owners on behalf of all the owners of an exhibit, as appropriate. Entries received by email will be considered signed by the sender of the email. The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any dog from all awards where they have not been entered in good faith.10. Entry will close as advertised. Late entries will not be accepted.11. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the full amount of the fees and duly completed entry form. 12. The entry fee of a dog entered and not exhibited will be forfeited. 13. If any dog, owner, exhibitor, and/or handler is entered for a class for which they are not eligible, entry money shall be forfeited, unless it can be shown that the error is not of the exhibitors making. The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any dog, owner, exhibitor and/or handler from an award won in a class for which they were not, for any reason, eligible and it will be the owner’s or handler’s in the case of a handling class, responsibility to cover any associated costs such as, but not limited to, amending engraving or replacing rosettes.14. The Show Manager shall have the right to exclude any dog which is not in a fit state for exhibition due to disease, vice or any other cause; if such exclusion takes place before or after the dog is judged, the entry fee will be forfeited. 15. All breeds shall be judged against its Kennel Club (UK) Breed Standard, unless clearly marked in the schedule. 16. Classes shall be made up for each show as follow, but always allowing for the best competition possible, at the discretion of the Show Secretary.c) At a Members Show, i) Breeds will have Breed Classes where it is expected 2 or more of a Breed will be entered. For breeds not listed, and entered into A.V.N.C.F., a Breed Class will be formed if 2 or more of a Breed are entered. ii) All breeds to have 'Puppy Dog or Bitch', 'Limit Dog or Bitch', 'Open Dog' and 'Open Bitch' Classes. iii) A dog with Champion or Show Champion status in any jurisdiction shall be ineligible for entry, save where special classes are scheduled, and judged after Best in Show. 17. In Brace or Team Classes, it shall only be necessary for an exhibitor to nominate and pay for one of the dogs at time of entry. All exhibits shown in Brace or Team Classes must have been entered into at least their Breed or Veteran classes and have completed all previous classes entered. 18. All Committee Members may exhibit at a show. However, direct contact with judges should be kept to a minimum before and during a show. 19. The Show Secretary reserves the right to recommend to the Committee that an exhibit be refused entry, provided he can give just cause. The Committee shall have the final right to refuse entry and, if upheld, any payment refunded.20. No person, whilst exhibiting or handling at a Show shall attend or host the pre-show meal with the Judge(s). 21. Judges shall not stay with a member of the Club before a Show where the Member has an exhibit at that Show. Exhibiting or Handling shall mean any dog which the Member has bred, has owned or has handled in the previous year.

Definition of ClassesEVENT REGULATIONS

22. Apart from exhibits entered into the show, or entered „Not For Competition‟, no animal shall be allowed within the precincts of the show without the permission of the Show Manager. Not withstanding, no dog less than six months may be permitted within the Show Precincts; with the exception of a Match or Companion Show, where a class for 4 to 6 month exhibits has been advertised. 23. The Committee will be most concerned for the care and safety of dogs and exhibitors during the show but will not be responsible for the loss or damage to any exhibit(s), person or other property whatsoever the cause, nor for any act of omission by themselves, their officers and others and it is on this understanding that entries are received. 24. The judging will commence at the time advertised in the schedule. The Show will be open to the public on such payment, if any, as may be decided upon by the Committee. Exhibitors will be admitted free of charge. 25. Should any judge be prevented from fulfilling his engagement, the Committee shall be empowered to make alternative arrangements. Changes shall be notified to exhibitors as soon as practicable by the most appropriate means. If a judge is changed after entries have closed Regulation 26 shall not apply. However, should an exhibitor wish to withdraw an exhibit because they would normally contravene Regulation 26 they may do so, and receive a refund of fees paid27. The mating of bitches within the confines of the show grounds is strictly forbidden. 28. The Committee may add other attractions to any show if it so deemed beneficial to theClub. 29. The Committee shall decide upon the Judges to be appointed. Members may submit, in writing, names of Judges they wish to be considered for appointments. 30. No notice of any description shall be posted in the precincts of the Show without the consent of the Show Manager. All stud advertisements are strictly forbidden. 31. In the event of the abandonment of a show for any unforeseen circumstances whatsoever, the Club may defray such expenses from the entry fees so as to cover the cost of the Show. 32. Once an exhibit has arrived at the showground it cannot leave, without the permission of the Show Manager, until all its classes have been completed. Should it qualify for special awards these will be regarded as classes to be completed. 33. If any dog, having entered for a breed class or variety class, either misses or is withdrawn from the class, it shall be disqualified from entering any other classes. Such a dog may however take part in Handling Classes. 34. If not at ringside when required for judging, the Committee or its agents will not be responsible for an exhibits absence from the Show Ring: the onus is on the exhibitor to be present and not unduly delay Judging. 35. No person shall be allowed in the judging ring except those exhibiting in the current class or those engaged in their official duties. 36. Any Group winners shall be permitted to withdraw from further classes and still be eligible to compete for Best in Show. 37. The attraction of the exhibits or exhibitors attention from outside the ring is prohibited, where an unfair advantage may be gained – it is not allowed even at the Judge’s or Stewards discretion. 38. The wearing of any Badge of Office, affix, or any club affiliation, or awards whilst handling an exhibit in the show ring is prohibited. Prominent displaying of affixes, Club affiliations, awards or dog’s names in the proximity of the ring is to be discouraged & should be removed on request of the Show Manager.68. Abusive behaviour towards any of the Club's Officials will not be tolerated at any time; neither will discreditable conduct at a Club Event. After due consideration, the Committee reserves the right to refuse entries from any exhibitor found to be guilty of such absuive behaviour or discreditable conduct for a maximum of six of the following Shows held by the Club.

APPENDIX 1 - DefinitionsNFC - Any registered dog, over 4 months entered "Not for Competition‟ is ineligible to compete, such a dog may, however, be used in handling classes, demonstrations or displays

Appendix 2 – ExemptionPermission should be sought from the Committee for any operation to an exhibit which may give it an unfair advantage if shown. An exemption may be granted based on an individual circumstance at the discretion of the Committee if it is felt that the operation was performed for the welfare of the dog, and not for unfair gain

Minor PuppyFor dogs of 6 and not exceeding 9 calendar months of age on the day of the Show

PuppyFor dogs of 6 and not exceeding 12 calendar months of age on the day of the Show.

JuniorFor dogs of 6 and not exceeding 18 calendar months of age on the day of the Show.

YearlingFor dogs of twelve and not exceeding twenty-four calendar months of age on the day of the Show

Novice* For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate** or a First Prize at 14 days before close of entries.

GraduateFor dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate** or 4 First Prizes* at 14 days before close of entries

LimitFor dogs which have not won 3 Challenge Certificate** or 8 First Prizes* at 14 days before close of entries

* - Wins as Puppies, or those at MEMBERS or OPEN SHOWS do NOT count.** Challenge Certificate shall include any show award counting towards the title of Champion in any jurisdiction

AVNCF (Any Variety Not Catered For)This is an ALL BREED show and classes will be made for any registered breed entered into the class .

Proof of achievement will be sought by requesting sight of the GCDS certificate on the day or a copy sent, with entries, to be placed on file for future reference

Stud DogTo be exhibited with two or more progeny which must have been entered in their breed, or veteran, classes.(Progeny may be in different ownerships) Stud Dog need not enter any previous classes
