Who were the Kraljević family?Noble family Kraljević were the one
of the most prominent family’s in Požega.
From their lineage derives one of the most significant artist 20th century.
As a family,they were very active in cultural and political life.
On this picture we can see all members from family Kraljević. From left to right we can see that Dušan,Laca and Toša are standing (painter’s uncles) and in front of them are sitting Lujka Kraljević and her husband Turelli. Beside them are Karlo Kraljević (painter’s brother), painter mother Julka Kraljević. Next to her is a painter Miroslav. The right of him is sitting Mirka Kraljević (Dušan’s wife). In the background is the painter's sister Mica Kraljević.

Miroslav Kraljević,writer and grandfather of the famous painter Miroslav Kraljević.He is one of the most known persons of the Kraljević family and also a prefect of Požega city. He was the main editor of the known magazine ‘Slavonac’.M.Kraljević had four sons: Dušan,Laca,Tošo,Toma and one daughter,Lujka.
Painter Miroslav, was born on 14th Decemebr 1885. in Gospic. He was educated in Zagreb, Gospic and Pozega. On this picture we can see his famous portrait of himself and his dog.
Besides Miroslav, the painter, Josip Račić and Vladimir Becić were the most significant artists of the 20th century.
They were educated in Europe,but they all come from Croatia.
This painter is known for his self-portrait’s. On this picture we see one of them,self-portrait with a pipe.
As shown in this letter, Miroslav by the decision of his father, after graduation he started studying law. He found livelihoods that will be far more valuable than the existence of a poet or painter. He needed after studying to become a bank clerk.
Kraljević has found his inspiration in the people and the country of their birth ,Slavonia. Therefore, in the vineyard house he has found his studio.
In many text’s,we can see that Miroslav was very sociable and friendly person. He loved to spend his time with his friends,but his studio’s were his little place where he can put his thoughts on his paints and sketches.*On this picture we can see Miroslav (in the middle) with his close friends
Miroslav had two studio’s in Požega: one in the center of the town and one in his grandfather’s house
Miroslav Kraljević died on 4th April 1913. in Zagreb. He was buried in Požega in his family grave which we can see on this photo.
