He was born September 4, 1941

in Hampton, son of Howard and Yvonne Kempthome Schwieger. He married Susan Mcintee on November 21 , 1981 in Waterloo.

Mr. Sc hwi eger received his B.A. from Iowa State University in 1963. He received his J .D. from the University of Iowa, College of Law in 1966. Prior to entering into private practice, h e served as a staff member with Black Hawk County Legal Aid Services. He was a ~racticing attorney in Waterloo for 33 years, retiring in 1999.

He represented the Waterloo distz:ict in the 64th General Assembly as a State Representative and in the 65th General Assembly as a State Senator.

Sunivors include his wife; a son, Matthew Schwieger of Stanford, California; a daughter, Anne Schwieger of Ithaca, Ne)V York ; a brother, Carlyn Schwieger of Dows; a b_rotherin-law, William F. Mcintee of Richmond, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents , Howard and Yvonne Schwieger and brother and sister-in-la w , .John a nd Sandy Schwieger.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
