Chapter 8-The press conference

The story was very soon in newspapers all over the world. Bonington had been selling his shares had gone up ad up when Hartwell first announced his new process. Bonington knew about the problems with his process. He also knew that if the process was not a success, the price of his shares will go down and down. In other worlds, Bonington knew he could buy shares back at much lower price. He would make a lot of money.

There was another thing too. Hartwell’s process didn’t belong to Hertwell. It belongs to Bonington and his company. Bonington knew that in a few years the problems in his company with this process could probably be solved. Bonigton would be very rich after selling his shares at a high price and buying them back in a low price. But the problems with the new process where soled, he would be even richer.

When Stephanie’s father found out about all this, Bonigton’s men had kidnapped him. And when Peter and Stephanie started looking around, Bonigton decided to get rid of them, too, Peter was right. Bonington had put the page from the book in to Peter’s poket. He planned to let Stephanie, her father and Peter die in the well. Then they could say it was all a terrible accident.

But the story of the Demon King Diamond stayed a secret.

Where did the story take place?

The story you have just read takes place in the 1960s. In 1970, two scientists in America succeeded in making diamonds of gemstones’ quality. Today, almost half of the world’s diamonds are men-made, but the price of natural diamonds has not fallen. People continue to buy them and to admire their wonderful natural qualities.
