Pachyderm pedicures are not a luxury. They are a necessity. According to the Kansas City Star, if captive elephants don’t get regular foot care, they are prone to infection that can be fatal. However; clipping the toenails of such a large animal that can weigh as much as six tons can be risky. So one man had an idea. He developed an “elephant flipper” that can allow the keepers to restrain an elephant safely and turn it on its side. The device stands twelve feet tall, weighs more than fifteen tons, and costs over $100,000. Caring for people can also be risky business. St. Paul offers no ingenious device for helping those who are in danger of harming themselves and others. Instead, he reminds us that when it comes to caring for the minds and hearts of others, we cannot rely on human strength or ingenuity. Lutheran Women

who are: In the Word, of the Word, walking with their

Lord! We have many

opportunities for the congregation to help us

News from our: Lutheran Women’s Missionary League

QUILTING CIRCLE: EVERY THURSDAY at 9am

in the Conference Rooms.

Everyone is welcome to come sew with us. We’re

still taking donations of material, blue jeans, or cash for supplies.

We appreciate each one of you for

supporting our efforts for this worthwhile mission project.

If you’re unable to quilt with the group you can work from home.

Call Rosie & she will get you set up #201-5710.

Sewing

Machines are available.

Thursday, June 16, at 2:30pm location TBA.

Stamps for Mission— doesn’t take vacation….please with all the graduation, wedding , and

other cards that come this time of year. Save those stamps! We save the trash dump some and put smiles on many faces in need.

A little stamp can do so much good. Check the bulletin board for more information on how you can continue to help.

One stamp is just as important as many—remember the “Widow’s Mite”.

Thank you so much, Sharon Teinert & Judy Alvarez

LWML Mission Project

Please bring your stamps to church no later than Sunday, June 12th, as we will be taking them to the

LWML Convention in June.

LWML Summer Activites

Tuesday, June 14, at 6pm in the Education Building Hostesses:

Member Development Committee will furnish drinks & table-ware. All gals of all ages are invited and asked to bring a snack, such as—popcorn, pretzels, finger

sandwiches, cookies, brownies, etc. Program:

“The Heavenly Banquet” Activity: Bunco Fun Night

The mission outreach project for June is to bring knitting yarn for the Booty Ritter Senior Center. Also, if you wish to send a “Thank Offering” to the convention, for the 75th Endowment

Fund bring it to the meeting. Guests are welcome to bring donations but not obligated.

Tuesday, July 12, at 6pm in the Education Building

Hostesses: Salad Supper Program:

Juliya Guidry—Guest Speaker, is from Russia and is the hairdresser at Summer Place. Pat Biar was a

patient there in February and found conversations with Juliya fascinating as she compared living conditions in Russia with

America! Thinking that Juliya’s story would be interesting as a program for LWML, Pat asked her if she would consider coming

to Holy Cross to share her story. She immediately said yes! Though we my be tempted to find fault with American (& true—it has it’s faults), we are extremely blessed to be citizens of the

USA! All are invited to come hear Juliya’s story and see if you don’t agree!

Activity: LWML’s mission outreach for July is bringing wieners & hot

dog buns for the Salvation Army. Guests are in no way obligat-ed to do so, but if you desire to help with this project, as always

your participation is greatly appreciated!
