FunctionsThe muscular system has many functions that help us in every day life. The muscular system controls motor skills
and fine motor skills. It controls movement, maintain posture, joint stability, heat production, communication,
and the movement of organs such as the small and large intestines. When you throw up the diaphragm and smooth
muscles around the stomach contract. An unhealthy behavior for the muscle system would be spasms and
twitches. You can hurt your muscles while working out and in sports. A common injury while working out and playing
sports would be pulling a muscle.
SteroidsOne drug that effect the
muscle system is steroids. Steroids are legal when
prescribed for rehabilitation of the muscles. This drug
helps increase muscle mass and is commonly illegally
used amongst athletes and professional weight lifters.
Muscle Types
There are three different types of muscles. Smooth, cardiac, and skeletal. Smooth muscles are
involuntary and work without you trying. Smooth muscles help you digest food and vomit. They are
found inside the walls of the intestines, stomach, and bladder.
