How muscles deal with getting tired

•The fibers inside alternate being used

• Take a pencil

• Fold a paper clip so it is resting on the pencil

• Not supporting paper clip in any way and it must remain perpendicular to paper

• Try to make the paper clip stay still

• Or hold above paper and try to make stay still

It’s a good thing your heart is not made of Skeletal Muscle

2nd Type of Muscle

• Smooth Muscle

• Smooth Muscles: found

• in the walls of internal organs and the blood vessels.

They are involuntary

They react slowly and and tire more slowly than skeletal muscle.

3rd Type of Muscle

• Cardiac Muscles

Cardiac Muscles: • Muscles that

make up the heart.

• Striated

They are involuntary

Muscles Work in Pairs

• Muscles can only contract, they do not extend or get larger.

• Skeletal muscles work in pairs so when one contracts the other relaxes.

• Examples: Biceps/Triceps, Hamstring/Quadriceps
