5 die — most from preventable causes such as malaria, diarrhea, measles, and pneumonia [UNICEF, 2010]

• Hunger is linked to nearly one-third of all child deaths worldwide [UNICEF, 2010]

• About 67 million of the world’s children of primary school age are not enrolled in school [UNESCO, 2011]
