Fresh grown produce from our Intergenerational Garden is served most days during

the growing season? Recently you’ve enjoyed

spinach, kale, swiss chard, and sugar snap peas in your salad and rhubarb crisp for dessert!

Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and summer intern, members can now enjoy fresh seasonal garden produce. Every week, our harvests are shared with seniors in the lunch program and at the new Farm Stand outside our office on Wednesdays! Notes From the Staff

Summer is here and we hope that you’ll join us for the many fun summer programs offered at the Chelsea and Grass Lake Senior Centers. In addition to the variety of programs offered at the Centers, we also organize many outings for members to enjoy each other’s com-pany and to support our local communities. Join us in July for a summer picnic at the Wolf Lake Yacht Club, Out to Lunch at Hudson Mills MetroPark, and Happy Hour at the Chelsea Alehouse. Be sure to also visit our senior center table downtown during the Sounds and Sights Festival at the end of this month. We need vol-unteers to help us staff the table or donate homemade cookies – let us know if you can support this outreach effort! Don’t forget to proudly wear your senior center T-shirts around town

With much thankfulness, we are happy to announce that we received a $7,500 grant from the Anna Botsford Bach Fund to support our senior transporta-tion efforts in Chelsea. With this grant, we are able to give out more free WAVE bus passes, pay for the lunch shuttle to the senior center for another year, and provide gas cards for our Meals on Wheels and C2S2 volunteer drivers as a token of our appreciation for all they do to help homebound seniors. Transportation is a basic need that we continue to try and support.

Coming Soon!! We are excited to share an update about the new “MySeniorCenter” software. Supported by a grant from the Ann Arbor Area Community Foun-dation, we have purchased this new equipment and software that will help us better manage our member information. This powerful tool will allow members to check in for the day and tell us what programs they are here to enjoy, all through a touchscreen monitor! If computers are not your thing, no worries, we’ll have volunteers and staff available to help you get familiar with the system. We hope to have this all up and run-ning by September. Questions? Feel free to chat with our staff – we’re glad to give you more information and to share our excitement about this new system.

Happy Independence Day!
