This committee consists of neighborhood volunteers who are donating their time to the benefit of our community. They meet once a month in the OP clubhouse to review and discuss the requests, and neighbors are encouraged to attend these meetings. Generally they meet the third or fourth Tuesday of each month – the date is posted on our community bulletin board. There are ways you can assist the committee with making a timely decision re- garding an ARC request. First, you can read the ARC guidelines that are posted on the Marvin & Floyd website to be sure your request is compliant. If you are able, please submit your request a few days prior to the monthly meeting so each volunteer will have time to review the information ahead of time. If you have sam- ples (pavers, roof shingles, paint color samples, etc.), it is best to bring them with you to the meeting. If the committee has all the information it needs to make a de- cision, you will be notified at that time (a written approval is mailed from our Man- agement Company following their receipt of the ARC report). If you are unable to submit a request to Marvin & Floyd prior to the ARC meeting but don’t want to de- lay your project, you may still attend the meeting and bring the completed form for them to review. Even if your project is approved during the meeting, please follow up by submitting the request to our management company so proper records can be maintained. Osprey Pointe continues to be a neighborhood that is fortunate to have residents who volunteer their time for the betterment of our community, and I appreciate each one of them. As always, you are invited to consider volunteering for our neighborhood in some capacity. Attending a monthly board meeting is a good way to learn about ways you can contribute, and all are encouraged to attend. Each month the date is posted on our community bulletin board. If you have questions or concerns but are unable to attend a meeting, you are welcome to contact me or another member of the Board of Directors (listed on Page 8). Thank you, Sydney Rossetti

Message from our President

As we all know, Osprey Pointe is a deed restricted community and any improve-ments to the exterior of our homes need to be in compliance with the rules that govern our neighborhood. ARC requests are to be submitted to our management company, then reviewed by the Architectural Review Committee prior to approval. There are ways you can assist the committee with making a timely decision re-garding an ARC request. First, you can read the ARC guidelines that are posted on the Marvin & Floyd website to be sure your request is compliant. If you are able, please submit your request a few days prior to the monthly meeting so each volunteer will have time to review the information ahead of time. If you have sam-ples (pavers, roof shingles, paint color samples, etc.), it is best to bring them with you to the meeting. If the committee has all the information it needs to make a de-cision, you will be notified at that time (a written approval is mailed from our Man-agement Company following their receipt of the ARC report). If you are unable to submit a request to Marvin & Floyd prior to the ARC meeting but don’t want to de-lay your project, you may still attend the meeting and bring the completed form for them to review. month the date is posted on our community bulletin board. If you have questions

or concerns but are unable to attend a meeting, you are welcome to contact me or

Spring Cleaning

April is a time when many take care of their spring cleaning. We have a beautiful neighbor-hood and appreciate residents maintaining their homes and lawns. As you embark on home improvement and landscaping projects, please remember that in accordance with Article III, Section 3.12, of our Covenants and Re-strictions, “all containers for the storage of gar-bage or trash must be screened from view from adjacent lots and any street. Except for regular collection and disposal no rubbish, trash, gar-bage, or other waste material or accumulations shall be kept, stored, or permitted anywhere within the property except inside the unit or in refuse containers concealed from view”. To avoid a fine, all trash should be put to the curb no earlier than 6 pm on the day prior to sched-uled garbage pickup, and trash cans returned to a screened area by the end of the day of pickup.

When you have contractors trim trees or per-form other maintenance on your property, you should make them aware that all debris gath-ered in the performance of their work must be removed and disposed of by the contractor, and not left at the curb for the city to pick up. For your reference, our pickup days are:

Every Wednesday: household trash Alternate Wednesdays: recyclables Every Thursday: lawn trash

Pool Time!

As the summer approaches, there will surely

be more use of our community clubhouse

and pool, and we are fortunate to have these

amenities. The pool is open to all residents 7

days a week, and we ask that everyone fol-

low the rules that are posted, and that you

help keep our property well maintained. If

you are planning a small party or gathering in

the pool area, please remember there is no

drinking or eating in the pool or along the

pool’s edge (and no glass containers in the

pool area). When renting the community

clubhouse, the back patio (the raised, cov-

ered deck at the back of the building) is in-

cluded in your rental. If you want to be sure

to have access to this area, please arrange

for a rental. If you have any questions or

concerns regarding our pool, clubhouse, or

other common areas, please contact a mem-

ber of the clubhouse committee.

Clubhouse Reservations You can check clubhouse availability and read the rules and regulations regarding clubhouse rentals at www.marvin-group.com/osprey-pointe-clubhouse-reservations. Log in with user name “ospreyowner”, and pass-word “osprey”. The rental fee is $85.00 per day, and includes the use of the back patio.

SWABS

March SWABS

If you didn’t come out for March SWABS, you missed

an awesome evening of fun! The group met at

Culhane’s Irish Pub last month and the restaurant

was filled with green shirts, green blinking necklaces

and buttons, and green boas to celebrate an early St.

Patrick’s Day! After sampling sausage rolls, Rueben

rolls, potato skins, and salmon dip, many stayed on

for a delicious Irish dinner and some karaoke in the

main bar area.

April SWABS

Because the date for April SWABS falls on Good Fri-

day, we will not meet this month. Have a safe and

happy Easter, and mark your calendars to come out

on May 12, when the Steels will host a Cinco de

Mayo celebration with a Mexican hat contest.

Girls’ Night Out

Ladies, join us at the Clubhouse on Thursday, April

27 at 7 pm for wine, cheese, and bling, at a costume

jewelry trunk show provided by SP Jewelry.

What to Plant:

Annuals: New varieties of coleus do well in sun or shade and provide vivid colors and patterns for

months.

Bulbs: This is an ideal time to plant many bulbs. Consider planting blood lily, caladium, or canna.

Louisiana iris makes a beautiful cut flower and thrives in most soil types although they prefer moist

soils with a high organic matter content.

Herbs: Plant heat-loving herbs, including basil, oregano, sage, Mexican tarragon, and rosemary.

Garden Vegetables: Continue planting warm season crops. Plant okra and cucumber. Mulch well to

prevent weeds and provide irrigation if rainfall is lacking.

What to Do:

Pests: Monitor landscape plants weekly for aphids on tender new growth.

Divide perennials and bulbs. Divide clumps of bulbs, ornamental grasses, or herbaceous perennials

to expand or rejuvenate garden beds or to pass-along to friends.

Lawn Problems: Many cultural lawn problems such as lack of water mimic insect damage. Confirm

the damage is being caused by insects before applying a pesticide.

Shrubs: Planting season is here and there are a wide variety of shrubs that can be added to the

landscape now.

Trees: Many beautiful trees are in bloom. Consider planting fringetree, Carolina Silverbell, or red-

bud.

Fertilize lawns. Apply fertilizer no sooner than mid-April after new growth has started. Choose one

with no or very little phosphorus unless a soil test indicates a need for it. A fertilizer containing slow

release nitrogen will give longer lasting results.
