Stewardship

A Way of Life

This Week’s Readings

The second son in today’s Gospel said he would do his father’s bidding, but did not. The first son balked at first, but then repented and did as he was asked. What service is God calling me to do? Which son am I more like?

Living Stewardship

We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who show Jesus’ compassion and mercy by supporting and ministering in homeless shelters, crisis centers and soup kitchens.

5 TWENTY-SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Children’s Religious

Education

Our religious education program has begun. Children from grades 2 through 8 meet on Monday and

Tuesday and our grade 1 children work with their parents at home in FAITH FIRST @ HOME. Our program helps our children grow as disciples of Jesus by praying together, reflecting on the scriptures, learning Church teaching and Catholic traditions. We have 1552 children involved in this program. We also have 171 people from our parish (parents, grandparents, friends, retirees) who are serving as catechists. We also have the great support from students from Kellenberg Memorial High School, Chaminade High School, Sacred Heart Academy and Regis High School. Without all these talented people we would not be able to do this important work of the Church. If you would like to register for our religious education program, please contact the Religious Education Office at (516) 678-2306.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

On Sunday, October 15th, two hundred eighty four of our young people will be SEALED WITH GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT in the Sacrament of Confirmation. We ask the parish to pray for these young people each day as they approach the last days of preparation.

PRAYER FOR THOSE

PREPARING FOR CONFIRMATION Father of love and power,

it is your will to establish everything in Christ and to draw us into his all-embracing love.

Guide our young people as they prepare for Confirmation.

Strengthen them in their baptismal promises, build them into the kingdom of your Son, and seal them with the Spirit of your love.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. — Prepared by Diana Macalintal. Copyright © 2013, Diocese of San Jose.

Prayer for our Troops Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.

Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families

And give us peace. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. Amen

Kindly call the Rectory Office at 766-0205 if you know of anyone that is on this list

and has returned home. Thank you
