Dear Kaiser families,
I just went online to the website for the auction and couldn’t resist bidding on a couple of items. What is wonderful about www.BiddingforGood.com/KaiserElementary is that you can send the link to your friends all over (especially grandparents!) and encourage them to contribute to our wonderful school. The auction committee is working hard and I am excited to see the classroom projects that are being developed with the help of parent volunteers! What a wonderful community there is at Kaiser!
Report cards will go home with students on Friday, March 16th
and we are still working out some of the glitches with the attendance reporting. Please understand if you get a second call to verify an absence that we are attempting to straighten this out, but it may take longer than this marking period. Meanwhile, please always remember to call (510) 549-4900 to report an absence (illness, doctors’ appointment, etc.) or email our attendance clerk, Gayle Peterson at [email protected] the date and the reason for the absence. With your support, our records will be more accurate.

The 43rd Annual Auction is less than TWO WEEKS AWAY!
The silent auction is officially LIVE at www.biddingforgood.com/kaiserelementary with a wealth of exciting and unique items to bid on, along with a new BUY IT NOW! feature! Please post the link to social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and send to family and friends so they too can help support Kaiser! The online auction will close at midnight on March 23rd.
Friendly reminder that classroom baskets and art projects are due Friday, March 16th. If you don't think your class will have it ready by the 16th, please email the committee at [email protected] to make special arrangements.

I wanted to share some helpful hints regarding Volunteering at Kaiser.
• We have to maintain the privacy of a child, so speak only to the teacher if you see/hear something that is worrisome. As much as we all believe that “it takes a village”, parents are discouraged from verbally disciplining someone else’s child at school. Gentle “nudging” toward positive behavior is acceptable!
• Let the teacher know in advance if you will not be able to come at the time you committed to being there. Sometimes, we may need to adjust the schedule if the volunteers are not available.
• Know that you are always welcome to help read books, work with a small group, or help supervise in the lunchroom or on the upper yard during lunch recess. We can always use help there. If you can help at noon, or other recesses, please pick up a copy of the playground rules so that we are being consistent. Copies can be obtained from Ms. Padilla, our administrative assistant.
Our Career Fair is on Monday, March 26th. Volunteers needed! If you would like to talk to a group of students about your chosen career, and what you love about it, and what path you took to getting there, please contact [email protected] or [email protected]
Cal Day is on Saturday, April 21st. As part of the K2C (kindergarten to college) program, there will be a campus tour of UC Berkeley on from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you and your child (in any grade) would like to carpool/drive that morning, please email [email protected] We need a show of interest now and then more details to follow, closer to the event.

The 2018 Spring Session of the After School Enrichment classes will begin April 10th (the week after spring break). Please check your child's backpack/homework folder next week for the informational packet of classes being offered or you may log on to www.kaiserelementary.org/after-school/ to download the flyer.
New and exciting classes have been added!• Fabric Arts!• Go Girls Club• 3 O'clock Rock
And of course, we will offer some of the classics such as Chess, Legos, Ceramics and African Dance (to name a few). Registration now open. Sign up early! Sign up now!
