VOLUME 1, NO 1 ESAA’s New Versatility Program Hopefully, you have all read the information in the ESAA “Setter Letter” about the new Versatility Program that was started this year. It is a fantastic program that rewards our setters and their owners for showing the ability to perform not just in conformation but in other venues (hunting, obedience, rally, agility, therapy, etc.) as well. The Versatile English Setter, or VES title, has 6 levels and this title can be added to your dog’s name in ESAA events. The requirements for the different levels can be found on the ESAA website. Honestly, the VES1 is fairly easy to achieve and I would encourage all of you to try to put at least this level on your setters. The bond you will form working with your setter to achieve these titles is incredible! And it’s FUN!! Julie Brimble and I were on the committee to set up this program and I would be happy to answer any questions that you may have about it. And now my brags. The VES program was retroactive. Ten of my setters (some of which are not longer with me) have achieved VES titles! SO proud of all of them!
