The region also houses a great number of animals and plants and counts with two natural reserves: The Natural Gorge of Desfiladero de los Gaitanes – also known as ‘El Chorro’ –, and the Natural Reserve of Lagunas de Campillos, both of which have an incalculable landscape and natural value. Water sports: The reservoirs of Guadalhorce, Guadalteba and Conde del Guadalhorce are the perfect environment to practice water sports such as fishing, windsurfing, sailing or canoeing, among others. Hafsún had his headquarters in the city of Bobastro (Ardales), where the rebel built the first Mozarab churches that led to the clash between the kingdoms of Granada and Castile. This military confrontation mobilized more than 10,000 warriors during the 14th and 15th centuries and witnessed the construction of impressive fortresses such as the castles of Teba, Cañete la Real, Peña de Ardales and Turón – all of which count with their own museums. T he visitor can enjoy numerous and entertaining tourist attractions that will make their stay an unforgettable and exciting experience in burgeoning nature – whether it has

being planned by the visitors themselves or by any of our many travel agencies that operate in the area.

Certainly, one of the many attractions of our region is its historic heritage, which includes all historic periods from Prehistory to Modernity. That is why we have invested special effort and

The Prehistoric Route offers the possibility to enter a “time travel machine” and explore the remotest past through archaeological remains and sites of international renown. The route includes the Interpretation Centre of ‘Prehistory in Guadalteba’ and the Prehistoric Cave of Ardales, as well as the museum of ‘Tartessos in Guadalteba’, located in Almargen.
