MERCY HOSPITAL The Rehabilitation Department would like to welcome you to Mercy Hospital and take this opportunity to provide you with some valuable information regarding your learning experience here. The department currently has three areas Acute, Inpatient Rehab (CRU), and outpatient (Kholy). Depending on Instructor’s availability you will be assigned an area. Please be flexible as you may have more that one instructor or be sent to more that one department to complete your hours. Please call or contact Vivian Lara, Occupational Therapy Fieldwork Coordinator as soon as possible to arrange that all needed documentation is filled out prior to the beginning of your internship. Prior to beginning your internship the Student roster, HIPPA Confidentiality, and Annual Review must be completed. Steps 1. All students have to meet with Vivian Lara-OTR at the Rehabilitation Department the first day of internship for hospital orientation and to review policy and procedures.

ParkingParking is available for faculty and students in the employee parking. Faculty and students must attain a parking access card. This card is available from our Security office. Students must bring a 20.00 check or cash in order to receive a card. This access card will be valid thru the end of the students’ rotation. Once the rotation is completed the student is to return the access card and in turn will receive their monetary compensation. The Fieldwork coordinator will assist you in obtaining an access card on first day of rotation during orientation.

Anyone who chooses to park in the visitor’s garage must pay the charge. NO EXCEPTIONS.All parking lot access cards MUST be returned to Security office on the last day of clinical rotation to receive their $20.00 back.

The hospital reserves the right to suspend parking privileges to those who abuse the rules; therefore we ask that all parking regulations be observed.

Student DiscountsWe are pleased to offer all students a 20% discount in the cafeteria. Students must have their school ID badge to receive this discount.

ANNUAL MANDATORY REVIEWMercy Hospital annually updates a review for the hospital staff. The Annual Mandatory Review is available from the comfort of ones home by accessing Mercymiami.org and clicking on the employee’s only section. It is the Hospitals’ requirement for all employees and students. We use the Annual Mandatory Review as not only a tool to test knowledge but as reinforcement for skills and actions expected upon certain situations that may occur in the hospital setting. The expected passage rate is 90%. The test is available to be done on various times. If there is any technical difficulty e.g.Forgot password Forgot ID Do not remember how to access Mercy Learning. Please call Jennifer Arce ext 2748 Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and or Javier Fletcher at ext 2603.

ID Badges

All students must wear their identification badges at all times while on the hospital property. Students should wear their school ID. No alternate Mercy ID will be given. Students should be reminded that they are not permitted to provide any patient care unless their instructor is physically present on the patient unit.We hope that your experience with us will be a positive one. Steps to access Mercy Learning

First begin by going to Mercymiami.org

Step 2: Once this Screen appears click on Associates Only

STEP 3 Click on MYLearning link

STEP 4: SELECT SIGN ON

STEP 5: ONCE YOU GET TO THE SIGN ON PAGE REFER TO YOUR ID AND PASSWORD PROVIDED TO YOU BY THE EDUCATION DEPT

STEP 6: SELECT ALL COURSES AND PUT IN THE LETTERS AMR2009 ON THE SEARCH BAR.

STEP 7: SELECT ANNUAL MANDATORY REVIEW 2009, ANOTHER SCREEN WILL APPEAR AND YOU WILL CHOOSE START COURSE. ONCE YOU ARE DONE WITH TEST YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO VIEW YOUR SCORE AND RESTART ANOTHER TEST IF NECESSARY.

STEP 8: THIS IS THE FINAL STEP. YOU SHOULD SEE YOUR TOTAL SCORE AT THIS POINT. IF BY CHANCE YOU DID NOT MEET THE REQUIRED SCORE YOU MAY AT THIS POINT RESTART THE COURSE.
