AlthoughwehadtosharenewsthatHansolHong,theCEOofRoboLinkcouldnotattendourmeetingduetoanunfortunateevent,theMarchmeetingwasanothereducationfilledprogram.

Yes,wedidsaycontests.InJuneweplantohostourfirstcontest–aLineFollowingContestandlaterintheyearaSumoBotContest.

AsthenameimpliesinaLineFollowingContest,theobjectiveofthecontestistotraversethepathasquicklyaspossibleandtherobotthatcompletesthepaththefastestisdeclaredthewinner.

ProfessorVannoysharedseveralcontestvariationsinhispresentation.Downloadhisprezotolearnmore.

Forourcontest,wewillprobablykeepitsimple.Wewillhave2-3classesofrobots(e.g.Lego,3Pi,homebuilt).Eachrobotinitsclasswilltraversethepath3timesandwewillrecordthetotaltime.Therobotthatcompletesthepath3timesinthefastesttimewillbedeclaredthechampionforthatclass.

Anyhow,ProfessorVannoybeganthelecturebyteachingusaboutsensorsingeneralandthemostcommontypesofsensorsusedinLineFollowingandSumoBotcompetitions.
