Speaker Introduction (Jennifer Sands) When Jennifer’s husband, Jim, was killed in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, her life was forever changed. Yet she would come to realize a new life far beyond anything she could have imagined. Her powerful story has chartered new territory in recent days, as Jennifer has sfaced several other trials in her journey. She’s here today to share her story and an inspiring message of God’s faithfulness during those trials. Jennifer will encourage us to discover (or RE-discover) how trusting Jesus Christ brings real and lasting peace. Jennifer has also written 3 books: The first one, called “A Tempered Faith”, is the story of her emotional and spiritual struggle and eventual triumph in that first year after 9/11. In her 2 nd book, called “A Teachable Faith”, Jennifer writes about the life lessons and the spiritual truths that God teaches her everyday. And in her 3 rd book, called “A Treasured Faith”, you’ll see Jennifer’s continuing biblical growth as she shares some experiences in her battle with breast cancer. All 3 books track her journey after 9/11 from tragedy to victory in Christ. Jennifer has also written the Foreword for a popular “Chicken Soup for the Soulbook, which is a Christian Women’s devotional. And she also worked with the Salvation Army and Max Lucado on their joint project, a book called “You’ll Get Through This”, which was released in September 2013. Jennifer’s 3 books (and the Chicken Soup book) are available here for sale after worship in the hallway behind the Sanctuary and Jennifer will be happy to sign them for you. MARVELOUS MORAVIANS – The Marvelous Moravians are planning a trip on Sunday afternoon, September 24, to the Willingham Theater in Yadkinville to see the play, “Driving Miss Daisy.” Cost of the ticket is $22. Plans are to leave the church parking lot at 2 PM for the 3 PM performance. If you are interested in going, a sign-up sheet has been posted on the CHURCH FAMILY LIFE Bulletin Board. CRAFT NIGHT – Another craft night is planned for Monday, September 25 at 5 PM at the home of Sandy Crater. A light meal will be provided. If you are planning on attending, a sign-up sheet has been posted on the CHURCH FAMILY LIFE Bulletin Board. AN INVITATION TO MEET – Several members have suggested a desire for a weekday Bible Study of some sort for members. Years ago such a group existed and met on Tuesday mornings. I would like to bring back this group for a period of at least six weeks in the fall that will wrap up before Thanksgiving and resume such a study following the Advent and Christmas season. I am inviting all who are interested in participating to a gathering in the church office on Tuesday, September 19th at 10 AM. We will have some light refreshments as we discuss possibilities of studies we may wish to pursue together. Please let me know or the church office if you plan to attend this gathering! DIENER’S DINNER – The Diener’s Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, September 30, at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Building. AGING WELL FALL RALLY (formerly Senior Friends Fall Rally) – The Aging Well Fall Rally is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, at 12:30 PM at the Christian Life Center of Hopewell Moravian Church. Tickets are $10 and are available for purchase through the BCM (336-722-8126) by October 1st. There will be a live music performance by “The Moravian Buns”. MEMOIR INFORMATION SHEET – Copies of this form (as mentioned in the September newsletter) are available for pick up on the ledge outside the Sanctuary. CANDLE MAKING – If you are interested in helping make lovefeast candles for our Christmas services, please join Ronnie and Becky Lanier on Saturday, October 7, between 8 AM and 3 PM in the Fellowship Building Basement to learn the candle making process.
