The Story of Elijah

Nar: Ahab got married.Chor: Sing wedding march, cheer.Nar: to Jezebel.Chor: Who?Nar: You heard me, Jezebel,Chor: Tut, tut, tut.Nar: And do you know where they got married?Chor: No, Where?Nar: in the temple of Baal.Chor: What?Nar: You heard me, in the temple of Baal!Chor: Boo, hiss, etc.nar: That's exactly what Elijah said.Chor: Elijah? Who's he?Eli: He's me.Nar: Yes, Elijah, the prophet of God,Chor: And which God would that be?Eli: The Lord God of Israel!Chor: Gulp! that's ..err..... impressive!Nar: Impressive God certainly is, but impressed? Well no, not a bit.Chor: Oh dear! There's trouble a-brewin'.Nar: God sent Elijah to Ahab to say,Eli: There will be no rain, not a drop for 3 whole years.Nar: Ahab was angry.Chor: Grrrrrr!Nar: But Jezebel was more angry.Chor: GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!Nar: Elijah thought it was time for a holiday,Chor: (singing), Oh today we're off to sunny Spain.Nar: Well no, not exactly. He chose the Kerith Valley,Chor: Where?Eli: The Kerith Valley,Chor: Was it a nice hotel?Eli: A bit basic.Chor: Was the food good?Eli: Oh yes, I was 'Raven' about it every day!Nar: But all holidays have to come to an end, so Elijah moved on to a town called

Zarephath.Chor: Why?Eli: Oh wait a minute, you'll see!Nar: At the town gate Elijah met a woman picking up sticks.

Chor: Did she win?Nar: Win what?Chor: The game.Nar: What game,Chor: Pick up sticks, you said....Nar: Oh.... she was gathering sticks! To make a fire, to cook a last meal for her and her

son before they died.Chor: Oh, I see, that's sad. Boo hoo - (crying).Nar: Hang on, hang on , it's not that sad!Chor: But you said?Nar: LISTEN! Oh... you tell them Elijah.Eli: Well I said, give me some of your food and God will make sure you never go

hungry.Chor: Did she?Eli: Yes she did, and do you know, her jar of flour and her jug of oil never ran out.

Every morning they were full no matter how much she used the day before!Chor: Wow!Nar: Then God told Elijah to go and see Ahab.Chor: But he is bad, very bad.Nar: Too right he is. Elijah told Ahab that it was time to show him who is boss. He said:Eli: Go to Mount Carmel and prepare two sacrifices, then let’s see which God can send

fire to burn them, Baal or the God of Israel.Nar: they all gathered, some shouting,Chor 1: Baal! Baal! Baal!Nar: and some shouting,Chor 2: Come on God, Come on God, Come on God!Nar: It was a terrible noise:Chor 1 & 2: (Shout chants together).Nar: (blow whistle for silence). Elijah watched as the prophets of Baal shouted louder

and louder. He said,Eli: Shout louder, maybe he's not listening, maybe he's on holiday, maybe he's locked

in the toilet? Shout louder!Nar: But nothing happened, nothing at all. Then Elijah stood up. Everyone went quiet

and he said:Eli: Oh God, show your power.Nar: There was a great sound.Chor: Boom!Nar: and a great flash.Chor: FLASH!Nar: And a great fire came down from heaven.Chor: Crash, Boom, etc.Narr: A fire so great it even burned up the stones on the alter Elijah had built!Chor: Wow!!!Nar: And everyone ran away, leaving Elijah all alone.Eli: All alone,Chor: Aaaaaaahhhh,Nar: Suddenly it got dark, very dark. There was a rumble of thunder,Chor: Boom,Nar: And a flash of lightening.Chor: Crash.

Nar: And then it rained.Chor: Pitter Patter, pitter patter.Nar: Elijah wondered what he should do.Eli: What should I do?Nar: and then he remembered someone,Chor Who:Nar: .Jezebel.Chor: Boo, hiss etc.Nar: Jezebel was angry,Chor: Grrrrrr!Nar: Very angry:Chor: GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!Eli: Sh ... sh... sh... she's g ... g... g... going to k ... k...k .... kill me!Nar: So Elijah ran.Chor: (run on spot)Nar: He ran a long way.Chor (all stop), Oh forget it!Nar: He ran to the top of a high mountain.Chor: (Out of breath panting)Nar: and he prayed.Eli: Oh God, I've done everything you asked me to do, and yet they still want to kill me.Nar: Or in other words.Chor: HELP!!Nar: Then there was a mighty wind.Chor: (blow),Eli: But God was not in the wind.Chor: What after all that....Nar: Oh shut up and let's get on. Then there was a powerful earthquake.Chor: (Crashing noises etc).Eli: But God was not in the earthquake.Chor: I knew it!:Nar: Then there was a burning fire.Chor: (noises of sirens)Eli: But God was not in the fire.Chor: Oh what?Nar: Then there was a, (pause).Chor: (Whispering) A what.Nar: (Whisper) A still small voice.Eli: And God was in the still small voice.Chor: (whispers) Cor, wow, hey etc.Nar: Elijah went down the mountainChor: That's easy, (fast running on the spot).Nar: And at the bottom he made a new friend called ElishaChor: How do you do.Nar: They became best friends.Chor: Ah, that's nice.Nar: Sometime later Elijah and Elisha were walking together.Chor: (Walk on the spot).Nar: Elijah said:Eli: It won't be long before I go to be with God.

Chor: (stop suddenly): What?Eli: It won't be long before I go to be with God.Chor: But that means...Nar: Well hang on, wait and see. Suddenly there was the sound of galloping hooves.Chor: (slowly: Clip clop clip clop.Nar: Er Hem, I said Galloping.Chor: (Quickly) Clip clop clip clop.Nar: A chariot of fire came sweeping down from the sky,Chor: (Mime sweeping and say) Brush brush. Brush.Nar: Oh come on, be serious! Elijah was swept up into the sky and taken into heaven.Chor: Wow.Nar: And Elisha carried on his work.Chor: Three cheers for Elijah and Elisha, Hip Hip, hurray etc.
