As part of TREB’s transition from TorontoMLS to New Stratus, the default method

of logging on to the MLS® System will switch on July 8. Currently, the default log on takes you to TorontoMLS. As of July 8, you will be logged on to New Stratus unless you select Log On to Old Stratus. Beginning June 17, you’ll see a notice about the default switch occurring on July 8.

Now is the time to get acquainted with New Stratus if you haven’t had a chance previously. TREB offers many New Stratus education opportunities from hands-on courses to webinars. Click here to learn how you can get up to speed with New Stratus.

The new TREB Market Stats platform will be available to Members in June. Through a

series of dashboards, this tool will allow access to data currently found in TREB’s Market publications such as Market Watch and other similar reports covering different market segments.

The initial release of TREB Market Stats will cover housing market statistics from 1996 to the present – similar to what is currently found in Market Watch and Regional Housing Market Tables. Moving forward, additional dashboards will cover the MLS® Home Price Index (HPI), the rental market, the condo market, the commercial market, and underlying economic indicators and demographics. In addition to tables and charts, the ability to produce custom maps will also

be added. For the remainder of the year, expect new dashboards to be added every four to six weeks.

Using the various dashboards, Members will be able to create customized market charts and tables based on their chosen geography and property type, from which, PDF or PNG versions can be created and sent to their clients. They will also be able to access the historic data underlying the dashboards and download it to an Excel workbook to use for their own analysis purposes.

The TREB Market Stats platform will be accessible on all devices including Windows and Mac based desktops and laptops as well as iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices.

Click here to access the TREB Market Stats workbook.

TREB CEO Don Richardson Retires

5

The Toronto Real Estate Board’s Chief Executive Officer Don Richardson begins a new chapter

this month as he moves into a part-time consulting role for the Association, and TREB’s Associate CEO and Chief Information Officer John DiMichele steps into the full-time role of CEO.

Don joined TREB in 2000, and with his sound leadership, the Association immediately charted a progressive new direction, instituting a Member-focused culture that continues today.

During his 14-year tenure, the Association rose to several significant challenges including the introduction of a new MLS® System, required usage of MLS® authenticators, and ongoing legal proceedings involving the Competition Bureau of Canada, to name just a few.

The son of former real estate registrar for Ontario Jim Richardson, Don’s career was a natural choice. He be-gan as a real estate salesperson in 1971, eventually managing his own

Brokerage, D.J. Richardson Real Estate in Newmarket.

Before joining TREB, Don had a 20-year career with the Ontario Real Estate Association where he served as CEO for six years. Prior to that position, he was an instructor and the Director of Education.

His career has also had a lasting effect on the broad-er real estate sector. Don had an instrumental role in enhancing the courses

required to become a salesperson in Ontario, and in influencing the Real Estate Council of Ontario’s Continuing Education program, both of which have elevated professionalism throughout the business.

His numerous contributions as well as his involvement in hundreds of Commit-

tees and Task

Forces at the local, provincial and na-tional levels prompt-ed the Canadian Real Estate Association to honour him in 2003 with its prestigious W. Frank Johns Award.

At its recent Spring Annual Meeting, TREB also recognized Don’s many contributions, presenting a video tribute that included commentary from many of the Presidents with whom he has worked. In addition, he was pre-sented with TREB’s highest honour, the Award of Merit, in appreciation of the tremendous impact he has had on the Association and the profession.

Thanks for all of the years of team-work and dedication. Best wishes for your retirement.

Motorcycle enthusiasts will gather on July 9 in support of a great cause as the Ontario

REALTORS Care® Foundation’s Annual Motorcycle Ride for Charity this year sets its sights on Southwestern Ontario.

Riders will set out from the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington, making stops at the Brantford Regional Real Estate Association, the Simcoe

and District Real Estate Board, and the London and St. Thomas Association of REALTORS® before reaching their final destination of Leamington on the one-day journey.

In addition to raising awareness in each of the communities it visits, the Ride helps raise funds for the Ontario REALTORS Care® Foundation, which provides annual grants to shelter-related charities throughout Ontario.

Through the foundation, Toronto Real Estate Board Members provided grants to 35 different shelter-related organizations in the Greater Toronto Area last year alone, helping refugees, women in transition, and homeless teens, among others.

Sponsoring a rider means that 100 per cent of every dollar you donate goes directly to shelter-related causes, as all administrative costs are paid for by the Ontario Real Estate Association. During the past four years, $130,000 has been raised through this important fundraising event.

For photos and stories from previous rides, to register for this year’s event or to sponsor a rider, please visit www.realtorscareontario.ca/ride

In last month’s issue of Across The Board, we asked you to participate in a survey. Some of you may have

missed that opportunity. Since your input is important to us, and because surveys yield such useful information for Board leadership, we’re asking Members who didn’t answer the survey last month to take a few minutes from their busy day

to share their opinions. Thank you! Click here to take the survey.
