INTRODUCTION

The Directorate of U.S. Air Force Academy Libraries is pleased to produce the sixth supplement to the United States Air Force Academy: A Bibliography 1954 -1964. This supplement includes materials published between 1 January 1996 and 31 December 2000. It updates the original bibliography and previous supplements that cover the periods of 1954-1964, 1964-1967, 1968-1971, 1972-1982, 1983-1989, and 1990-1995, respectively.

Not included in this bibliography are articles from local area (i.e., Colorado Springs and Denver) nevi^spapers. In most instances, specific athletic events are not covered. Similarly, most Academy publications are excluded.

The basic arrangement of the bibliography is by subject as outlined in the table of contents. Each subject area is subdivided by resource type: Air Force Instructions, books, newspapers and periodical articles, go\emment documents, and other sources. Call numbers, shown in parentheses, indicate the location of the item in the Academy's library system. A general index is also included, which lists the citation number of items in the bibliography.

We encourage our readers to submit additional references not included in this or earlier bibliographies. Such references will be put in the appropriate section of the next supplement of the bibliography. Bibliographical data on such matters should be sent to:

HQ USAFA/DFSEL-REF Attn: Mr. Elwood White

2354 Fairchild Drive, Ste 3C9h USAF Academy CO 80840-6214

Requests to borrow materials, listed in this or previous bibliographies, should be directed to the Interlibrary Loan Office at the above address.

This bibliography is the third supplement compiled and indexed by Mr. Elwood White, Military History Bibliographer and Reference Librarian, in the Reference Branch of the USAFA Library. We are grateful to Mr. White for his meticulous work and careful research.
