Mishi looked around as she spotted a familiar table at the edge of thegoing ons in the Great Hall. It had been a year since she last saw herfriends, and she wondered how they were doing.

Making her way to the table, she glanced around at the festive decorationsas they glittered in the light. She sat down at her old chair and pouredherself a cup of tea. It had been an interesting year to say the least. In thattime she had accomplished many things...without Tom Riddle. Her eyestrailed across the table. Would her friends come? Was Tom even stillalive? She sipped on her tea, letting the warmth comfort her--not that sheneeded a whole lot of comfort; it was just one of those pleasant things in

life. She looked down at her retro black and white dress and smiled.Hopefully this would end up being a great reunion.

be honest, none of the balls had actually treated him nicely but sheappreciated his perseverance and loved him for it.

She holds her breath for a moment when she notices Mishi sitting at thetable they had reserved for years now and with a joyous smile on her face

she walks towards her friend, confident that Severus will follow. Mishilooks good. It must have been a difficult year for her considering all thathad gone before but it did not seem to have worn her friend down. Claudiaarrives at the table and smiles broadly. Mishi! I have missed you so much!

Severus follows Claudia to the Golden Trio's table. There is a glimmer inhis dark eyes that has nothing to do with the lightening of the Hall buteverything with the Valentine gift that he had arranged for his wife. NowSeverus isn't one for big romantic gestures, flowers and chocolate candyare not a present he would easily give. However, he truly believes that

giving something that would make someone happy might be consideredthe ultimate romantic gesture and thus he had spend weeks in hislaboratory trying to create the spell that would do exactly that - make hiswife happy. And if his estimation was correctly, it would not take muchlonger before his gift would enter.

He nods at Mishi and sat down. She looks a bit sad, he thinks, but that'snot surprising. The girl had always been happiest alongside Tom and

At the sound of her name, Mishi glanced up. A grin spread across her faceas she watched Claudia and Severus sit down.

Claudia! Severus! She cried, standing up and giving Claudia a hug. It hasbeen far too long! She sat down and grabbed some morning biscuits fromthe platter at the center of the table. Where oh were do we start? I meanwe have to catch up on old news. It has been ages since we've seen eachother.

Taking a bite of one of the biscuits, Mishi looked over at Snape for a

moment. The glazed look on his face told her that he had somethingplanned for Claudia--nothing of Tom. Not that she was ever going to jumpback into his arms or anything, but information of his whereabouts wouldhave been nice...

As she listens to her friend, her hand automatically finds the morningbiscuits and she takes a bite. They are delicious! Of course, no one would recognizehim...They already knew that he had been out smarted and out done inevery way by Weyoun, the alien he had foolishly messed with. Last yeararound this time, he had been taken away to Weyoun's universe andthrown into a Dominion Prison facility...because he had the alien's face,

body, and voice, they did not kill him.

He sighed, still lingering near the entrance. In that time he hadn't eventouched magic. In fact, Tom wasn't even sure he could wield a wand!There was no use lamenting over the mistake he made over a year ago inthe Dominion Cloning Facility. He had already come to terms with it.

Severus has tuned out the women. They seem to have continued wherethey left off. Now that was nice for them but he was bored. He takes adeep breath, looking forward to the loud sigh it will give, when his eyecatches someone entering the Great Hall. A slight smile appears on his

sallow face. With a graceful gesture he gets up and excuses himself.Ladies, I have some business to attend to. I will be back before you canmiss me. Severus knows there's no danger in saying such a thing becausethe women are so caught up in their chatter that they wouldn't miss him ifhe'd disappear for a week.

With long strides he swiftly passes the tables and leaves the Hall tocontinue phase II of his master plan.

Ah, Valentine's Day Ball.

Now, most years, Sam was busy with school and other sorts ofthings and had to generally send her significant other an owl withchocolates and a Valentine's Day wish, considering the longdistance. Couldn't have possibly been Muggle or else he wouldn'thave been able to evensee the castle, let alone get inside! Come to think of it, this wholething reeked of the so-called psychic who had made performing his jobutter hell ever since he showed up a few years ago. He glanced over theroom again but none of those inside shared any physical likeness toShawn or his buddy. Interesting. Very interesting.

supposedly inside the castle of a children's book about magic. Now ifthere were two things that Carlton didn't believe in it was Magic and non-existing things coming to life. But he has to admit that this girl is a prettygood actress.

Unfortunately for Carlton, that was what Sam was all about.

Especially when a stranger wandered into her home. She had alreadydefended Hogwarts against the War and had done so withouthesitation. She knew she could never lose Hogwarts and allowing anenemy to just stroll right in and woo her was stupid. So questionswere what he was going to get.

Sam didn't miss that he ignored the questions of his origin. Why hewas there. But he had planted himself in one of the busiest parts ofthe castle. So unless he planned on getting himself hexed, shedoubted he was here to start anything. So she pulled her hand free ofher pocket and the wand that she had been holding, taking hisoffered hand in a strong shake.

No fishy handshake for her.

"Nice to meet you, Carlton. Just call me Sam."No reason for lastnames from this prefect. As for the smile and the wink, there was a

slight tinge of red on her cheekbones, but nothing too substantial.

She did have a boyfriend at home, after all.

The first ball that Radash was a Gryffindor in, how odd. He hurries towards the corner, fluently drawing his 9-millimeter Luger. Ittakes him moments to reach the corner and to discover a male body lyingon the floor. There seems to be no sign of a struggle but looks can bedeceiving - something he learned in his many years on the police force.

He professionally bends through his knees and tries to feel the man'spulse.

Dead.

Carlton straightens up and looks at the crowd in the Great Hall. This manwas murdered. I need you all to stay in this room because this is nowofficially a crime scene - and I need to talk to the people in charge of thisevent. Can somebody call for back up, I have no signal in thisgodforsaken place.

The man for whom shedeveloped an unhealthy crush. What in the name of Salazar was he doing here? And moreimportantly: How was it evenpossible for him to be here! It takes her only a moment torealise what had happened.

I'd put the gun away, Detective. It won't help you around here... if anyonewas going to try attacking you, anyway.

Sam's word make no sense to him. A gun is helpful in any situation evenif it was only out of protection. There is no way in hell he would put it

away, especially not now with a murderer on the loose. His eyes scan theroom again. In the movement he notices a girl in a maroon dress rushtowards the crime scene. She looks worried and .. he can't put his fingeron the other emotion she's showing. Perhaps this girl just found out thather date disappeared and is now fearful he is deceased. A flicker ofsorrow for the girl pulls through him.

What intrigues him is that she doesn't even look at the body at his feet.She stares directly at him, Carlton Lassiter. He gives her a moment to findwords. Perhaps she has information that might lead him to the killer. Heis not a patient man but he learned a long time ago that it is smart to act

patient towards witnesses if you want something done from them and sohe puts up his waiting face.

Sam never really liked guns... sure, she liked weapons and had herown stash of them... knives. Swords. A collection of sorts and whileguns were cool in the movies and the like, they were never going to

be of any help in the Wizarding World. There were far too many

actual spells that could kill someone and be a lot less messy than agun.

Probably faster, too.

The Gryffindor blinked at the sudden arrival of Claudia and thewords that the woman stuttered out to Lassiter. Too funny. A slightsmirk despite the dead body found Sam's lips as she gave a smallsigh and shook her head.

are still things that are not consistent to what she is saying. After all,wouldn't more people have reacted when this non-body dropped dead ifthis was a reenactment? And what were they reenacting anyway? Anactual murder that happened here? Something was definitely not right

It didn't escape Severus that Tom talked about himself in third person. Itwas interesting to say the least. He wonders if the darkest wizard of alltime was suffering from some kind of a personality crisis. It wouldn'tsurprise him; being trapped in a body that wasn't yours could do that to aman. But then again, the wizard should be used to changing shapes bynow. There must have happened more than just a bodily change over thelast year - that much was obvious from the Dominion Prison Campreference he made.

He nodded quietly. I will cast muffliato. But her overhearing us talk putaside, aren't you worried about her general reaction upon yourappearance? She has felt so guilty this past year and she's half convincedyou are dead.

Lassiter .. She just can't phantom the reality of the situation. She wonderswhat had possessed Severus to make this happen .. but what if it had not

been Severus? What if some other - unknown - force had turned thisfictional tvshow character into a man of flesh and blood? Stunning fleshand blood to be exact. She shakes her head. No, this must have been

Severus's work because no one else was nearly powerful enough anymoreto pull something like this off. Not since Tom Riddle disappeared last year.

What bugs her though is why he did this. Was this supposed to be herValentine's gift from her husband? He reallygave her the man she had the

biggest crush on since .. him .. really? Of course he must have noticed sheliked Psych a lot but she didn't think he could have noticed her crush onDetective Lassiter. And what kind of a man gives his wife such anopportunity? Not the jealous kind, which was exactly the kind of manSeverus is.

Her mind goes half crazy but she can't afford to let her confusion controlher. The thought that he's actually walking behind her and will be sittingnext to her - hopefully - in a matter of seconds blows her mind. Shewonders what she would tell Mishi. Couldtell Mishi. Or Carlie himself.She should be careful not to call him by the nickname she'd given himthough, she realises with a hint of horror because he surely would notappreciate that. Would Lassiter know anything about how he got to behere? What would he remember? What would he do if he found out hewasn't real? And .. she hated herself for wondering this .. and would he stayforever flesh and blood ..

She smiles at Mishi and turns half around to introduce her to her crush. Hewas closer than she thought he would have been. A minty odour combinedwith sea and wind penetrates her senses. For a moment Claudia is lost inthe smell. Oh man, it should be a crime to smell so good! She quicklyswallows and pulls herself back together.

Carlton follows the girl in the maroon dress that - he can't help but notice- fit her perfectly. He still holds his gun ready in case it was necessary touse it. The gun is his comfort zone in the middle of this craziness. Henotices in passing the red and golden table that the girl he had spoken to

before the incident - Sam - had moved on from their conversation anddidn't seem to have any interest in his person at all. This as a fact didn'tsurprise him, he never was good at keeping the attention from women.

Not that it ever stopped him from trying. People said a lot of things about

him (especially behind his back when they thought he wouldn't hearthem) but no one ever accused him of being a quitter.

He reasons that since the girl he is following was the only one speakingup after the strange incident with the dead body that turned out not to be adead body - it puzzles him how he could have made such a mistake - shemight have information about other things as well. Like how on earth hegot to be here in the first place and what is in the pumpkin juice thatmakes it taste so horrid.

He should be careful to speak his mind though. Carlton was made into afool by Shawns jokes and little games too often to look forward to beingthe victim of them again. He had no idea how the pseudo-psychic hadmanaged to pull this off so far but he would not be Carlton Lassiter if helet his pest get away with this. Certainly not!

They halt in front of a table at which a young lady was sitting, who isintroduced to him as Mishi. He sticks out his hand to complete theintroduction when suddenly he realises something important. With afrown on his forehead he turns to the maroon dressed girl and searchesher face with piercing eyes. I don't believe I have mentioned my firstname in your presence. Have we met before?

Tom was about to answer when he noticed Claudia and another manapproach the table. Mishi looked shocked by it, and were Tom a lesserman, he would have assumed that Claudia and Severus were having"problems," but he knew his old friend better than that.

Interesting gift. You must be quite sure of yourself to give your female-wife something so...male and pose-able...he cracked a smile. I guess wecan just talk here for the time being. He grabbed some tea from a tray thata House Elf was carrying and sipped from it.

No taste, Severus. Just textures. He continued drinking. Anyway...I dowant to face her sooner or later. She was so loyal, no matter what I put herthrough...I went too far, and she snapped. And you know what? He lookedinto his friend's dark eyes. I can't blame her. She was just a celebrated petto Tom--me. So tragic. He swirled the remains of his tea in the cup and

Severus follows Tom's eye to the table and a mysterious smile lights uphis features. It seems like his wife is already enjoying herself, she looksall flustered. He can't wait to be at the receiving end of her thanks lateron.

He waves away Tom's remark. It has nothing to do with sureness. ThisMuggle is part of a television show Claudia is obsessed with and Ithought it would be a nice gesture if she'd get to meet one of thecharacters. I specifically choose one of the minor characters - kind of aloser - so there wouldn't be any .. He searches for the right words todescribe his actions .. conflict with her loyalties towards me. The leadcharacters are quite popular and this guy can't swing it with the ladies ifthey were handed on a silver platter if you know what I mean. Hechuckles softly, remembering the episode he happened to sit throughwhere the man was forbidden to take on a case because he was so bad

with the opposite gender.

He looks back at Tom and squeezes his eyes for a moment. Loyal she wasindeed. I think you will have a hard time convincing her that you havechanged - even with this changed look she will be quite cynical towardsyou I'm sure. He reaches over to grab a some firewhiskey and pulls it inone throw.

Claudia realises her mistake about introducing the man beside her by usinghis first name. She tries to think quickly to come up with a reasonable

explanation. Could she say she's a friend of his ex-wife? No, he might askher personal questions she would not know the answer to. Where could shehave met him before where he would not remember her .. in a flash itcomes to her. She turns to Lassiter with a smile. We talked briefly at myhighschool reunion? You were there on a date - If I remember correctly thatdidn't end so well for her since you arrested her in the end. The storyseemed believable enough. She doesn't like lying to him but for the time

being she feels she has no choice. It would probably turn his world upsidedown if she blatantly came out and said 'Well Carlie, you are not a real

person. In fact you are made up.' Truth be told, she isn't exactly sure if thatwouldn't have him setting off his gun, something she would like to prevent

from happening. Not that it would probably do much harm around here butstill, magic would freak him out ..

At that moment Mishi lit up her wand and sparks streamed out of the tip. Itis too late to do anything and she can only hope that Carlton will handle theexhibition of magic well. She tries to connect with her friend, letting herknow on some level what is going on. By the way Mishi, I didn't have achance to tell you all about that television show I love so much. Shefrantically rolls her eyes at the man beside her, hoping Mishi will get thehint. I'll tel you more about it later .. especially that episode in which one ofthem .. came to life?

Carlton remembers that reunion very well and he smiles at the memory ofthe arrest. That woman had treated him like a doormat all evening and ithad been sweet revenge to catch her with illegal substances. Well, thatwasn't the only arrest made that night of course but obviously it was the

sweeter one. Nothing made him feel more alive than when catching acriminal, even the small ones had their effect. However, he can'tremember seeing this girl there, let alone talking to her at all. He wouldsurely have remembered her, there is a certain kind of energy about herthat is not easy to miss.

But it makes sense that she brings up that reunion. It makes theconnection she has with Shawn more clear and it is exactly the evidencehe needed to realise he is indeed on the right trail with his suspicions.

Of course, the reunion! He puts on a smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

Calculating how far he can go without giving away that the game is up,he slowly puts his gun away and crosses his arms in front of his chest.Were you friends with .. what is her name again .. Abigail? Spencer'sgirlfriend?

He turns back to Mishi, patching the gun underneath his jacket. Safely putaway for now, don't you worry Miss. His eyes grow big when she showsa stick that sparkles. But it can't be real, he is convinced of that. Just acute party trick and he is not amused by it. With a frown he exasperates.That's nice firework you've got there but while I'm sure it can cause pain,it won't help you protect yourself against the bad world out there, will it.

He gives her his trademark detective look, one eyebrow raised with aconcerned look in his eyes for the sanity of the woman in front of him.
