THE VILLAGE NEWS BELMONT VILLAGE OF WEST LAKE HILLS NOVEMBER 2017 Hello! Several of us participated in the “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s” Sunday, October 1st, at the Travis County Expo Center. Special recognition goes to Angie Wiley, Marie Wiley’s daughter, and her team for raising over $3,400! Delia Jervier, Executive Director of the Capital of Texas Chapter, was pleased to announce participation doubled over 2016 - 171 teams participated. Angie’s Team Please take a few moments to tell us how we are doing! In late October, residents and their family members, for whom we had email addresses, received a satisfaction survey. Our residents received their surveys in the mail and family members via email. The survey should take five minutes or less to complete and we look forward to your feedback. It’s hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner! With the season quickly approaching, we’ve begun to receive inquiries from residents and families asking how they can show their appreciation to our wonderful staff. As most of you are aware, Belmont Village has a standard no-tipping, no gift-giving policy in place. The Employee Appreciation Fund was established to provide a way for our residents and families to thank our non-management employees. Contributions are voluntary. More information will be provided to you by letter soon. Thanksgiving will soon be here! Chef Mike and his team are planning a delicious Thanksgiving Lunch for Thursday, November 23rd, from 11:00-1:00pm. We welcome family and friends and look forward to celebrating this special day with you. Monday, November 27th, is Ugly Holiday Sweater Day! Once again, we’re breaking out our once fashionable holiday sweaters to decorate Belmont Village for the holidays. Please join the fun as we decorate trees and sip some hot apple cider. Wishing you, families and friends, a very happy Thanksgiving. One of the most importantparts of well-being is a sense ofsocial connection. In fact, the

Surgeon General says thebiggest health crisis facingAmericans today isn’t a physicalailment at all- it’s isolation.

We’re working to help bridgethat gap by making it easier foryounger family members to stayin touch with our residents.

ShareMail, a service we havepartnered with, makes it easy tosend physical mail from inside ofFacebook- so as kids post onFacebook, letters can be sent toresidents who prefer to get theirnews and updates non-digitally.

Stop by to learn more abouthow to use this easy, fun app tosend letters and keep familymembers connected!

THANK YOU TOANGIE AND HERARMY!

“I participated in the Walk toEnd Alzheimer’s because my75-year-old mom is diagnosed withAlzheimer’s. She is very well takencare of at Belmont Village, but it’svery difficult for me, my brother andmy sister to witness the diseasetaking pieces of her life from her, little by little. It’s very sad. I getthrough it by immersing myself inmom’s care, dementia education andinvolvement. There’s no cure forthis disease. It’s impacting millions, and it’s growing every year. I nowknow the importance of researchfunding, and I want to honor mymom by doing my part.

I am blessed with a wonderfulfamily. We support each other inour various roles taking care ofmom. I’m also blessed with manyvery generous friends, who supportme in what I’m doing. They checkin on me, they’ve helped us movemom twice, and they’ve made myfirst year involved with the Walkvery successful! I put it out there, and they stepped up with moredonations than I expected to raiseand by walking with me.”
