Miscellany stevtaig, TCONCERNING THE DELIVERANCE

CONVENTIONSAbove may be seen pictures of one of

the several deliverance conventions inwhich we have been engaged during thepast several months. God's blessing hasbeen upon these conventions in a won-derful way.

Brother David Nunn, one of thespeakers will be leaving soon for cam-paigns in Guatemala and Mexico. Infact, by the time this issue reaches thereader he will be in Guatemala City.Brother R. W. Culpepper will be leavinga little later for Paraguay, and perhapsBrother Velmer Gardner.

THE CAMPAIGNS IN SALVADORAs we go to press, very good news

reaches us concerning the Harry Ham-pel campaign in Salvador. Several thous-and have responded to the altar callsand many wonderful healings have takenplace.

CONCERNING FLORENCENIGHTINGALE

Recently we mentioned the healing ofFlorence Nightingale, which occurred afew years ago under Brother WilliamBranham's ministry. This remarkablemiracle of healing which took placewhen the woman was only one step fromdeath attracted unusual comment. Inmentioning it again, it did not occur tous that some would. think that it referredto the historical character of FlorenceNightingale, who was born a centuryand a half ago! Some have written inabout this, and we hasten to inform themthat the person spoken of was not thewoman who has been dead these manyyears. (See reproduced photos from Oct.1951, TVH.)

HOW GOD PROTECTED AN ALMONDCROP FROM FREEZING

By Evangelist Joseph DeGrado

As we drove into the outskirts ofChico, California, my wife, daughterand myself were thrilled by the sight ofthe acres of lovely blossoms that filledthe almond trees on both sides of thehighway. Little did I realize that it wouldfall my lot to pray for some of thosevery blossoms, and for the almond crop

Before ANTLIFE FROM DEATH

Photo at left was taken of Miss Nightingale inJanuary, 1950. She was suffering from cancer ofthe stomach and had to be fed intrsvenously. Friendsheard the Branham Party was to be in London andflew her from Africa to London. In answer to all,the party went to where she was staying. A pitifulcondition was hers. as the picture shows. Mtar prayer,Brother Branham told her he felt she would be allright. One year later, photo at right was taken, show-ing indeed life frorn death. Brother Branham con-sidered her healing as a token for him to make histrip to Africa.

AND AMAZINGANSWERS TO PRAYER

of one of the local Christian ranchers. Our revival campaign in the city had

been gloriously blessed by God, "theLord working with us with signs follow-ing." About mid-way in the 'revival, onenight one of the church brethren ap-proached me after the service. "Do youbelieve God can do anything?" was hisquestion. I assured him that "all thingsare possible to them that believe", andhe solemnly echoed an "amen." Then hetold me his request for prayer.

The weather in the area had suddenlyturned quite cold, and the temperaturewas expected to drop to below freezingduring the night. This of course meantthe almond crop would be in danger ofbeing lost. The almond ranchers wouldall have to fire up their "smudge pots"and burn them all night long. By burninga solution of oil in these pots, a heavyblack is created which settles at tree toplevel and protects the blossoms from thefrost and cold. However, the brother'sproblem was that he didn't own anysmudge pots. "Do you think we canagree in prayer for God to protect myalmond crop Brother DeGrado?" iswhat he asked.

I had already declared that God coulddo anything, and so grasping his handin mine, I began to pray, "God, coverBrother P's orchard with thy feathers, and keep every blossom under Thywing." Then I sent the brother home andtold him to sleep in peace.

While our brother slept, the tempera-ture dropped lower and lower. Theneighboring ranchers worked feverishlythroughout the night, their smudge potsbelching out their black cloud of smoke. Finally dawn arrived and the tempera-ture returned to above freezing, manywondering whether they had been able

to ward off the cold sufficiently or not,for the temperature had fallen evenlower than predicted.

The next day the ranchers checkedtheir orchards to see if their blossomshad been "burned" by the frost. Manyfound that even though they had"smudged" all through the night, muchof their crop had been frozen. However, the trees of Brother P's "covered by Hisfeathers" had been spared by an Al-mighty God. The blossoms had not been"nipped" by the cold even though hehadn't "smudged." God had answeredprayer again to prove once more, that"all things arc possible to them that be-lieve."

AN AMAZING ANSWER TO PRAYERIN THE LIFE OF R. W. CULPEPPERWhen my wife and son and I came

to Los Angeles in 1946 the area wasover crowded, and it was almost im-possible to find a place to live. For ashort while we stayed with my wife'smother, who lived in an 18 ft. housetrailer. Because of the very crowded con-dition it was apparent that this couldnot last very long.

I had enrolled in the Southern Cali-fornia Bible College to begin at the firstof the next semester. It was necessaryfor us to find a place to live at once.I told my wife at the dinner table that"tomorow we would fast and pray, andI will find a place for us to live." Weprayed that night and again the nextmorning. As I left, my wife asked whereI was going to look, and I told her Iwould find a good residential area nearthe college and rent a house.

I drove to an area where I thought wewould like to live, parked my car andwent up to the first house and knockedon the door. A lady came to the door and

I told her I was looking for a house torent. She informed me that I must becrazy, and asked if I didn't know th'atpeople were sleeping in the parks andsome were even allowed to sleep in thejails, that there were thousands of peo-ple in Los Angeles without a place tolive. I thanked her and went to the nexthouse. I was again informed that therewere no rentals available in Los Angeles.and what rentals there were had a longwaiting list, and the rent was so high aBible school student couldn't afford topay it. I thanked her and went to thenext house, praying again before Iknocked on the door. This time a verydear elderly lady came to the door andintroduced herself as Mrs. Pearson. Sheinvited me to come in. I told her Iwas a young preacher about to start toBible School and I needed a place tolive. She told me she had a son who wasa missionary in South America, and shewished she could do something to helpme. After our visit we had prayer, andshe prayed, "Dear Lord, please help thi,,young man find a place to live." Then shesuggested that I go around the cornerand see a Mrs. Green and to tell herthat she had sent me. This I did butMrs. Green informed me that she onl,had single rooms for elderly ladies, andcould not imagine why Mrs. Pearsonwould send me to see.

While we were talking, the telephonerang. It was Mrs. Pearson wanting totalk to me, and requested that I comeback to her home. This I did immedi-ately, and she told mc that she had ahouse that would be vacant in two daysand she felt that the Lord wanted me tohave it. She asked how much income Iwould have and I told her that I would

HEN A MAN accepts the Christian faith he is con-fronted with making the decision of which churchhe should join. While some find it no difficultyto decide, others are confused with the old prob-lem of "which church is the true church." Some-times conflicting claims of various groups can be

real puzzling to a young convert. In considering this problemit is not out of the way to repeat what has been said manytimes, that the joining of any church, Without a born againexperience, (in. 3:3, 5, 7) can result in disappointment andperhaps tragedy. Such a person may be led to believe that byhis act all is well with his soul, when the very opposite is true.Jesus said, "Except yc repent ye shall all likewise perish."(Luke 13:3) Therefore repentance is required before any onecan become a genuine member of the church. Having said this,we nevertheless hasten to add that it is important that all truefollowers of Christ should affiliate themselves with believers oflike faith. For the church is a New Testament institutionordained by none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. Each be-liver should actively become a part of it.

Many excuses have been raised to rationalize failure tobecome an active member of a church. "Too many hypocritesin the church." "Poor preaching." "Too much asking formoney," etc. While it is easy to find an excuse, the questionremains whether it will be recognized as valid before the tri-bunal of Heaven. There are no perfect churches because thereare no perfect Christiansno yet at least!

Some say that they do not need to attend church, that theycan worship the god of nature in the hills and in the forests. This is nothing more nor less than the religion of the pagan.Christians are members of one body, the body of Christ. andmay not operate or live their lives independently of othermembers.

Some attend church but will assume no responsibility. Theyare willing to enjoy its privileges and blessings but are unwill-ing to pay its bills. They talk about "going to Heaven whenthey die", but like the hitchhiker, they want someone else toput in the gas and the oil.

Every Christian needs a church home. He needs to do morethan attend a lecture forum where discussions on prophecy areconducted. He needs do more than attend special meetingswhen they come to town, or a youth center on Saturday night.Nor can a person's spiritual needs be mct by merely turningon a radio and listening to a religious program. Legitimate asthese things are, and helpful in their place, they arc not asubstitute for a church home and a local pastor where theycan go with their spiritual problems.

WHICH CHURCH IS THE TRUE CHURCH?With some, this question is a very real one. It is to be

expected that when a church sets itself up in business, it willrepresent itself as of the true church. It is no more than fairthat every church should have the right to state its case. Butevery Christian should carefully ascertain, in joining a churchthat its case is substantiated by the Scriptures.

There are not a few today who insist that salvation is onlypossible throught membership in their particular organization. We must unequivocally declare that all such claims are false.Salvation is not in an oreanization but in Christ. The Lordwould not allow even the apostles to organize a religious mon-opoly. When they saw another man casting out devils, but whorefused to join their -apostolic party" thcy forbad him. (Luke9:49) Jesus rebuked their attitude and said, "Forbid himnot: he that is not against us is for us." (Verse 50)

Most organizations recognize God's church as greater thanany organization although some admit this reluctantly. There is of course only one church the body of Christ.Organizations are not the body of Christ but working agree-ments between believers who are members of the church. Suchassociations between believers are by no means to be despised.Indeed men may only work together when they have mutualunderstanding. when they arc in accord on standards of faith,of ethics, of discipline. When a large body of Christians agreeto work together they become what is called a denomination.

WHAT IS THE TRUE DOCTRINE?As far as unity of doctrine is concerned, the evangelical

church, although representing many different groups, and de-spite minor differences, is in surprising agreement on all buta few things. Indeed so close is this agreement that we maysay that when a certain group marks itself as espousing someunusual or strange doctrine, thereby creating a deep gulf be-tween itself and other groups, it becomes everywhere suspect.Methodist, Baptists. Pentecostals, Presbyterians. Episcopalians,Nazarenes and many others have a general compatibility asregarding their beliefs in the great Bible doctrines, althoughthey may differ sharply on church discipline and minor pointsof theology. For example, one church may have a strongcentral government, while in another, a local church is almostcompletely sovereign.

Nevertheless there is one very important cleavage in beliefthat divides the evangelical church sharply and not neces-sarily by denominations. Indeed we find this cleavage existingin many denominations, some more, some less. The one side

believes in miracles that took place in Bible days, but theyinsist that none take place now. The other side affirms thatGod performed miracles not only in the long ago, but todayalso! . . . That Jesus Christ is indeed the same yesterday, todayand forever.

I. CHOOSE A CHURCH THAT BELIEVES INAPOSTOLIC CHRISTIANITY

This most pronounced division in the evangelical churchtoday arises from the same cause as existed in the time ofJesus. The Pharisees, the fundamentalists of their day, be-lieved in the supernatural, in healing, in miracles, in the in-spiration of the Scriptures (although they add to the Scripturesto fit their peculiar convenience), but they were unwilling toconcede that miracles were taking place then. When con-fronted by miracles, they claimed that they were performedby Satan. Jesus showed that such a claim was mischievous andwicked, and pointed out its absurdity; that if Satan healed ihesick, then his kingdom was divided and would not stand. (Luke11 :14-20)

Christ in His Great Commission said: "Go ye thereforeinto all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Hethat believeth and is baptized shall be saved. He that believethnot shall be damned." This is the authority of the Christianchurch for world-wide evangelization. Evangelical believerseverywhere have accepted the first part of this Great Commis-sion, from the days of the Early Church on down to now.But strangely enough, the church, shortly after the apostolicage, began to stop right in the middle of the paragraph, ofthis Great Commission. The first two verses were acceptedliterally without a thought of them meaning anything else thanwhat they actually said. But the next verses which followedwith the words, "These signs shall follow them that believe ..were ignored as if they had actually gotten in the text by mis-take (which some actually claim took place!). This view orassumption has been the great tragedy of the centuries. It hasrobbed the church of the key by which they could reach themasses of heathen with the gospel.

What is this key? It is the ministry of the miraculous. "Thesesigns shall follow them that believe."

The first sign is: "They shall speak with new tongues." Apos-tolic Christianity is to be marked by the sign of speaking inother tongues! There is no mistake about this. The phenomenonof speaking in other tongues is referred to again and again inthe New Testament. Miraculous? Yes! Important? Yes! "Forhe that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself," notto mention the many other benefits spoken of in chapter 12and 14 of I Corthinthians.

And in the Great Commission Jesus also added, "They shalllay hands on the sick and they shall recover." (There are otherimportant signs mentioned which we cannot discuss here.)Apostolic believers, Jesus said, will lay hands on the sick andthey will be healed! Therefore in choosing a church home youwill want to decide on one that believes in the miraculous, indivine healing.

Unfortunately, so far had the church departed from theoriginal apostolic pattern that a few decades ago a man whoprayed for the sick was regarded as a fanatic. Today how-ever, a great change is being wrought. Ministers in manydenominations, including Episcopal, Presbyterian and Baptistchurches, are now praying for the sick. Indeed the Full Gospelmovement had better beware lest God leave them behind andpour out His Spirit on the old established denominationalchurches some supposed He had forgotten! David du Plessis, lecturing on divine healing, the speaking in other tongues, andthe gifts of the spirit, in several of the so-called "modernistcolleges" and receiving an enthusiastic reception as publishedin a reeent issue of TVH, must be startling news to many!

It is important indeed to be affiliated with a church that be-lieves in the power of God. Paul said:

"This know also, that in the last days perilous timesshall come . . . Having a form of godliness, but denyingthe power thereof: from such turn away." (II Tim. 3:1,5)

THE VOICE OF HEALING March. 1960

The truth in the above scripture is reflected in the followingincidents, which is by no means unique.

Not long ago I received a phone call from a mother whowas almost hysterical. She explained to me as she sobbed overthe phone, that her baby was dying. Would we pray for thechild? Of course were are always ready to pray when anemergency case like this comes to our attention. But I said,"Lady, how does it happen that you called me up?" Well itseemed that she had attended our meetings when we were inher town a few years before, and she had seen many miraclesoccur, and she was convinced of God's power to heal. I said:"Sister in a matter as important as this, why do you not go toyour pastor and have him pray for the babyr In a falteringvoice she replied that it would not do any good. For he taughtthat the days of miracles were past. Strange that she believedin divine healing and then attended a church that denied thepower of God, especially when there were several churchesin that city that vigorously taught that truth! Now that anemergency had arisen, she could not call on her pastor andexpect any help.

We have occasionally noted that a family who has beenfully taught in the Full Gospel message, has transferred mem-bership to a cold denominational church because apparently, that church had people whom he deemed were of a highersocial level. What a tragedy! What will they do when the timecomes that they need God to work a miracle for them? Hav-ing despised the group that believes in miracles, they may findthat when their hour of need arises that they have no oneto turn to, who has real faith in God.

Summing up In deciding on a church home, choose onethat fully believes in divine healing and the apostolic ministrywith the signs that Jesus said would surely follow true believers.

2. CHOOSE A CHURCH THAT IS INTERESTED INYOUNG PEOPLE

If you have a family, look for a church that has a real in-terest in its youth. Most churches want young people in them, but alas, many do not make the effort necessary to hold them. However, we wish to make it plain that when we speak of achurch that is interested in young people, we do not mean achurch that caters to youth merely through means of enter-tainment, nor that over-emphasizes a social program, althoughof course young people need some social activities. The youthof today are the only ones who will carry on the work of thechurch tomorrow. To keep them in the church requires care-ful planning on the part of its leaders. The pastor must under-stand young people and work unceasingly to meet the peculiarneeds and problems.

It is unfortunate indeed to find churches without any imagi-nation in the handling of their youth. As children grow upinto the teen-age, the world makes a great play to capturethem, often greater than does the church. Too often we seethe youth slipping away, and no one takes it to their heart, until it is too late. One of our fondest memories of work asa pastor was that almost all our young people remained withthe church as they grew up. It is possible to hold the youngpeople if two things are done. First the church must give itselfunremittingly to prayer for them. Second, that studied effortbe made to supply their particular spiritual needs. While youngpeople are, as may naturally be expected, the least stable partof the church, on the other hand they are the most responsiveto a spiritual vision. They want to see things happen and dullplodding ecclesiasticism has no particular appealing to them.

Second: In choosing a church, take note of its ability to holdthe young people, not with purely social activities, but with aspiritual program and vision that will appeal to them. Youngpeople want to belong to something that is alivesomething thatis going somewhere and is worthy of their confidence andrespect.

3. JOIN A CHURCH THAT IS SOUND DOCTRINALLYBecause the Bible teaches a supernatural gospel, does not

mean that it is not a sound gospel. The Apostle Paul repeated(Continued on Page 9)

PAUL FINKENBINDER REPORTSSUCCESS IN NETWORK RADIO

IN LATIN AMERICA

The report fromBrother Paul Fink-enbinder regardingthe growth of thenetwork radio broad-cast to 14 stationsis indeed inspiring. While other worthyprograms to send thegospel out over LatinAmerica via short-wave have been in

existence for years, we have felt thatthere were so many limitations to short-wave radio, that programs over broad-cast band would be much more valuable.Reception of shortwave is spotty geo-graphically, and often accompanied byfading and static. Nothing can take theplace of the local station, for good re-ception. Furthermore, most radio setsdo not have the shortwave bands, andthose that do are usually used for eitheramateur or commercial purposes.

Therefore, when Paul Finkenbinderproposed a radio network to cover LatinAmerica by local cities, we felt that thiswas a move of God, and THE VOICEOF HEALING takes pride in having asubstantial part in instituting and carry-ing on the program. Others are now as-sisting Bro. Finkenbinder and we hopethese donors will increase until PaulFinkenbinder's goal of 100 stations inCentral and South America, will bereached.

BROTHER FINKENBINDER SENDSTHE FOLLOWING REPORT:

"My estimated potential listening audi-ence at the present time is 10 million. Some 97% of the audience is RomanCatholic and about 50% are illiterate. We will have been broadcasting for fiveyears next July. Notwithstanding manyof the people cannot read let alone write,we receive 200 letters a month, andmany more when a special offer is made.No appeal for funds is ever made onthe radio. A radio Bible Course is sentout to those writing us requesting it."

TELEVISIONOn January 24 the first gospel

telecast to be aired in LatinAmerica was viewed on YSU-TV,San Salvadorthe station with thelargest coverage of the three sta-tions throughout Central America. The choice time of 7:30 to 8:00Sunday evening was chosen. Thisis the greatest opportunity possiblefor reaching the elite of the coun-try who would have no other con-tact with the full gospel message.By faith Paul Finkenbinder signedthe contract for one year at whichtime he had only enough to payfor three telecasts costing $120each. The next day a businessmanwith a burden for the radio min-istry said he wanted to sponsor thefirst television program, but gave acheck in the amount of $500, whichwould pay for four programs.

Maxwell Whyte Has Fruitful

Campaign in Sao Pauloby Rev. Luiz Schiliro and Rev. Juan Alvear, Directors ofthe "WORLD EVANGELISTIC CENTER"

(Ed. Note) TVH is now encouraging pastors with deliv-erance ministries to conduct campaigns in foregin lands.Brother Whyte's meetings in Brazil show the potentialof this ministry.

The visit of Rev. Maxwell Whyte to Sao Paulo, Brazil, with its 3 million inhabitants, was announced with short notice.Nevertheless, even on the first night of his campaign, a greatmultitude filled the auditorium of the -World EvangelisticCenter-, a building which was once used as a theater, huthas now been transformed into a house of God.

The message which this servant of God brought to theBrazilian people was one of the most powerful we have heard, and caused a genuine revolution in our Gospel realms!

Confronting Satan and his cohorts with dynamite from theWord, Brother Whyte was not afraid to say that the reasonfor the failure of innumerable churches lies in the fact thatthey have not taken a definite stand to fight against sin andits originator. In his messages, he spoke very frankly of thepower which Satan has held over the people, even to theChristians who were oppressed by demon power.

The multitude increased night after niizht, filling the mainauditorium of the Evangelistic Center. They came from all overSao Paulo, as well as from distant villages and cities and evenfrom other States! All were unanimous in their opinion that

While the crusade does assume complete financial re-sponsibility of certain projects (as the Manila Campaign) in generalits design is cooperative. In all cases the evangelist is encouragedto raise as much as he can on the field and personal supportersshould continue their regular giving. Although overseas mass evan-gelism is revolutionizing missionary work, its cost is inevitably heavy. The evangelist, beside his fare, has regular home expenses to main-tain. Moreover of vital importance is the building of shelters andchurches to take care of the converts. The purpose of the Winning theNations Crusade is to share, not to completely underwrite, responsi-bility of reaching the nations through mass evangelism.

PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF R

For 16 years I suffered with bad eyes. The nerves of my eyes went out of focus.I suffered from eye strain, and had con-stant headaches. It was becoming im-possible for me to read. I could notdrive a car at night and shouldn't havedriven one in daylight because of myvision. Any kind of lights bothered me,and I had to wear tinted glasses all thetime to try and find relief.

I went to the best doctors for severalyears, but they could do nothing.

After God saved my soul I began tolook to God to heal my eyes. I went tothe great revivals of Dr. Charles S.Price and had him pray for me. I wasprayed for by that great man of Godfive times. I went to other great revivalsfor prayer. I believe I was prayed forabout 100 times. I was desperate forhealing, but received no help for mybody. It was, certainly not the fault ofthese great ministers. They had donetheir best and had prayed for me ac-cording to God's Holy Word. I didn't

Artie Illifference Between Beatings aby Velmer Gardner

Thousands today fail to receive heal-ing because they are trying to hold Godto a miracle. We must leave this in thehand of God. He will do what He knowsis best and will bring the most gloryto His name.

Healings usually are gradual and maybeno change will be noticed when youare prayed for. When Christ cursed thefig tree, the life immediately began todie within it. However, there was nooutward change at that time. The nextmorning it was dead.

We must believe that when prayer ismade the work is done. The disease iscursed and must die. It may take it sometime to pass from your body, but leavethat to God. You will be healed if youdo not doubt.

God promised Abraham a son andAbraham believed God. Rorn. 4:20-21.Oh how many today cast away their con-fidence when God does not immediatelyperform the miracle. Heb. 10:35-26. InMark 16:18: "They sha// /ay hands up-on the sick and they shall recover." Hedid not say how soon. Commit yourselfto God; rest upon His Word after youare prayed for, and you shall recover.

A lady came in our meetings to beprayed for. One leg was shorter than theother. Her spine was twisted and shewas unable to bend over or stand uponher teet for any length ot time. We

anointed and prayed tor her, and I feltthe Gifts of Healing in operation. I toldher I knew God had heard our prayers, and that she was healed. She walked offthe platform with a peaceful smile on herface, but her spine was still twisted andone leg was one and one-half inches

shorter than the other. That didn't botherme. I knew that the healing virtue ofChrist was beginning to flow through thatbody in answer to prayer.

She and her family started home intheir car. They were praising God forHis goodness, and shc thanked Him forhealing her. They had just gone aboutten blocks when the bones in her backbegan to crack, her spinc straightenedand both legs were thc same length. Shcdid all her own work the next day, waxedthe floor, and stayed on her feet all daywithout pain. The next night she testifiedto God's healing power. If she had notaccepted it because God did not instantlydo it, she never would have been healed.

On another occasion I prayed for alady who had been in an automobileaccident eleven years before. Her spinewas injured and she could hardly getaround. Every hour of the day she suf-fered with the terrible pain. When weprayed I rebuked the pain, commandedthe spine to straighten up and for her toreceive healing. Then I told her to gohome and thank God for doing the work.I warned her that the enemy would try toattack with symptoms and make her dis-trust God. She went home and had theworst night's sleep she had ever had. Thepain was very severe. The next morningshe sat down and began to thank God forhealing her. The devil came and said,"Your back still hurts doesn't it?"She had

realize then that I was hindering Godtnyself. I was trying to confine God to aninstant miracle, not knowing that theGifts of Healing are a gradual work ofGod to bring recovery. Because the workwas not completed instantly, and the paindid not vanish when God's servanttouched me, I would doubt and not claimwhat God had promised. Because I

Fdoubted, God could not help me. (Heb.l0:23; James l:6,17)

In 1949 after preaching healing forover 10 years, God showed me the oper-ation of the gifts of healing. I went toa humble servant of God again forprayer, determined this time to stand up-on God's Word and nothing else. Afterhe prayed for me I took my glasses off,and determined by God's grace, never towear them again. The devil really at-tacked me that night. Unbearable pain-was in my eyes all nightl The next dayti prayed and the devil told me, -Godonce more failed to heal you." I said

[devil you're a liar, God healed me last

night." The devil said, "How do youreyes feel?- I said, "They feel worse thanthey have ever felt in my life." Thedevil said, "That proves God didn't healyou. If you were healed, the pain wouldbe gone." I said, "Devil, God didn't sayanything about the pain. He just said ifthey would lay hands on me, 1 wouldrecover. They have laid hands on me, thegifts of healing are now working in mybody, and 1 will recover." The devilsaid. "If you don't put your glasses onyou will go blind." I said, "Devil if I doI'll be a blind preacher holding healingcampaigns and praying for the sick, be-cause I am going to believe God's word."The devil left me then. I rebuked thedevil for six months. After God saw Iwas determined to stand on His Word in-stead of what I felt, and to believe thatthe gifts of healing were bringing healthback to my body, God made me per-fectly well. My vision is perfect; nostrain, no headaches. I preach underthousands of watts of glaring floodlightsin tents and auditoriums with perfectvision and no eye strain. My God's

Word is True:A few years after this I had two tu-

mors on the side of my head. The painwas very severe, and I suffered day apdnight. I was talking to Oral Roberts onenight and told him the devil was tryingto destroy me again. He laid his handon the tumors, cursed them and saidnow believe God and don't worry. Iwent home thanking God. The tumorsdidn't fall off, the pain didn't stop, but I believed God was faithful. I

stood on God's word for four years. I

refused to doubt. After I returned froma great revival overseas, I arose onemorning to wash my face, and layingon my cheek were the two tumors. Noth-ing left but two scars on my head. Godis a good God and God's promises aretrue if we will stand on His word anddoubt not.

If He performs a miracle and you arehealed instantly thank Him for it. If Hedoes not perform an instant miracle, thank Him anyhow, because He will keepHis promise. You will be healed gradu-ally as I was.

Ind Miraclesto answer, "Yes." Then he said, "If Godhealed you all the pain would leave:" (Goddidn't say so). Then she began to talkto the devil. Make him listen to you.She said, "Listen devil, if I broke myarm and went to a doctor to have it set,the pain would not leave. The doctorwould set the bone, put the arm in acast and the laws of nature would bringthe healing. I wouldn't go all over towntelling people that the doctor didn't setthe bone because it still hurt. I would ex-pect that for a while. Last night I wentto Doctor Jesus and He set the twistedbones in my back. Sure it hurts, but Hehas it in His Divine Cast, and His heal-ing virtue now is beginning to work andI will soon be normal with no morepain."

She had no more than said thesewords, then the power of God struck thetop of her head, surged through her spineand she was healed. All the pain instantlyleft. God saw she had enough faith soHe rushed the answer through.

When I pray for the sick I believe this:I can pray and appropriate the healingvirtue of Jesus to your body throughthe power of His Name. When you havea cancer I command that living, evilspirit of cancer to come out of yourbody. It must obey. There is no otheralternative for it, because I command inHis power. Usually this is the processif it is a healing: When the command is

given the spirit comes out. The cancerbecomes dead flesh in your body. Thisdead flesh dissolves and passes from yourbody in a few days, and you will beperfectly well then. Usually the peopleget very sick and upset as this materialcomes from their body.

YOU MUST HAVE FAITHNOT HOPEI prayed for the sick many years and

HOPED they would get well.I prayed forhundreds of people and they HOPEDthey would get well, but this is not faith.Everyone knows God CAN heal Faithbelieves HE WILL!

God has given a new revelation offaith that is bringing healing to many. This is my simple definition of faith.FAITH BELIEVES THAT GOD WILLDO WHAT HE HAS PROMISED TODO! Isn't that simple? A child can graspthat, and that is the way God wants it.Jer. 33:3. I believe if we call He willanswer. As hands are laid upon you forhealing, let your faith arise and touchGod until you can see by faith that inreality it is the hands of Jesus upon you. That is why we pray in His Name. Peo-ple have absolutely, literally felt thehands of Jesus touch an enlarged heart, crushing it instantly to normal size.

Faith never waits to see the answer.Faith believes regardless of circum-stances. Some people say if I could seesomeone get out of a wheel chair then Iwould have faith. That would not befaith, that would be sight. Faith believeswhat can't be seen. Heb. 11:1.

WHICH CHURCH IS THETRUE CHURCH?

(Continued from Page 5)constantly in his letters to his preachersthat they preach sound words, sound doc-trine. Alas, how many churches by theirundue emphasis on certain peculiar doc-trines, mark themselves as unbalancedand unsound in their theology.

What an army of will o' the wisp doc-trines, some persons will lend themselvesto, and even champion, to the neglect ofother things which are obviously of somuch more importance. A recital ofthese things which have come to our per-sonal attention would make a long listindeed.

Today, fringe sects that have no fel-lowship with other members of the bodyof Christ abound. Usually such sectsvigorously denounce all other churchesbut their own.

Often the pet doctrines of these sectsare defended with a zeal worthy of abetter cause. It is always well to be zeal-ous of a good thing, yet certainly a mod-est ability to discriminate between thevital truths of the gospel and those thatare otherwise is necessary if we are to beof any benefit to the cause of Christ. These scismatic doctrines range all theway from the grotesque to the subtle. One sect claims it is all-important towear a beard. Another says you mustnot eat fish on Friday. Still another saysyou must eat no meat at all. These arethe sects which make issues of small mat-

HOW CAN I HAVE A SUPERNATURAL MINISTRY?God has promised "these signs" will follow our ministry

if we preach the gospel to all the world. People will behealed, devils will be cast out, the gifts will be manifestedand men will receive the Holy Ghost. We will have powerover serpents, poison and over all the power of the enemy.(Mark 16:15-171 These signs are not promised to peoplewho are not interested in carrying the gospel to ALL theworld-those who only want to keep it between four walls.

One pastor told me that he did not want to advertise therevival. He said he was not interested in anyone comingexcept his own members. One of his members became sick.He told his congregation to pray that she would "bow sub-missively to God's will, and that she would resign herself todeath." He did not once mention her healing.....One pastor recently said that he wanted a revival, but hehad a "higher class" of people than the other churches, andhe did not want them mixing with any other groups.

A preacher's wife said, "Jim and me raised this church upfor our own special benefit; I don't want anyone else 'fool-ing' with it."

Another pastor said, "I am here for only one purpose, andthat is to build a church for my denomination." That is fine, but the first purpose should be to build for Jesus andwin souls.

Elisha told a widow woman, who was deeply in debt, toborrow some vessels - not a few. As long as the vesselslasted the supernatural miracle-working power operated. When the oil stopped flowing he told her that had shebrought more vessels more would have been filled. The powerwill continue to operate as long as we have vessels to fill.If you are only interested in your group; if no one is broughtin who needs to be saved, filled or healed, you will see nodeliverance.

GOD HAS PROMISED TO GIVE US AN APOSTOLIC MIN-ISTRY IF WE CARRY THIS GOSPEL TO EVERY NATION. (MATT.28:20) This power is not promised to an isolated group

faithClillir

which is content to keep the gospel fenced in one groupor a 'chosen few'', they must have a vision to win ALL theworld for Christ.

Thousands of pastors spend thousands of dollars for ad-vertising on television, radio and newspaper. They have aburden for people regardless if they are members, relativesor strangers. They are willing to win souls even if the con-verts become members of other churches.

An old bear will fight for her cubs. An old hen willfight for her chickens. An old cow will defend her calf. Any-one will pray for his own children or his own denomination, but the love of God will cause us to try to win people whoare not our own relatives,

GOD HAS PROMISED TO REDEEM OUR BODIES IF WECARRY THE GOSPEL TO ALL THE WORLD.

If we preach the gospel to ALL the world then the endwill come. The power that raised Jesus from the dead willquicken our bodies. (Matt. 24:14) The Gospel of the King-dom must first be published to all the world.

One pastor told his young people who wanted to win soulsin street services and tent meetings that "The hospital is

the place for people to be born, and not out on the street."He seemed to think that if someone were born outside of hischurch he was an illegitimate child, and the gospel would beadulterated, so he finally trained his young people to haveskating parties instead of street meetings.

A certain man made a great supper. (Luke 14:161 Peoplerefused to come. The Lord said unto the servant, "Go outinto the highways and hedges and compel them to come."The Lord is preparing the Marriage Supper in the air. Hischosen ones will be there, shut away from the ''wrath withoutmixture." He is saying, "Call the poor, maimed, lame andblind." We are now in that day. That is why the love ofGod constrains us to go even to the uttermost parts of theearth, to a people of a strange language, and risk our livesto help prepare these precious people for His coming. We go.That is why He confirms the Word with signs following.

WHICH CHURCH IS THE TRUECHURCH?

(Continued from Page 9)ters. Jesus in one of His few remarks ofirony said to the Pharisees:

"Woe unto you, scribes andPharisees, hypocrites! for ye paytithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier mat-ters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to havedone, and not to leave the other un-done. Ye blind guides, which strainat a gnat and swallow a camel."(Matt. 23:23-24)Avoid the faddists and the fringe sects.

Paul had them in his day and warnedagainst them. Some were fanatical onthe matter of circumcision. Paul was will-ing to let them continue circumcision, but this did not satisfy them. They main-tained that it was necessary to be circum-cised to be saved. Others of Paul's dayclaimed it was all-important to keep thewhole Mosaic Law. Still others foughtover the day, whether to keep this dayor that. It was not that Paul objected tothem indulging their peculiar views, itwas that their fanaticism diverted peoplefrom the gospel of grace.

Today we have every kind of sect. Some of long standing are swallowed upin ecclesiasticism and ritualism. Otherswill allow no musical instruments in thechurch, although musical instruments areused in Heaven. (Rev. 14:2) Some teachthat those who do not keep Saturdayhave the mark of the beast. (AlthoughJoshua's long day now makes Sundaythe same as Saturday!) There are foodfaddists who declare that true religionconsists in vegetarianism. Others, on ahigher theological level battle over theissue of predestination, declaring thateverything is predestinated by God somany sinners going to hell and so manysaints going to Heaven, and nothing canchange it. Despite all this, the fact thatnothing is clearer in the Scripture thanman's moral responsibility, and God'suniversal call to all who will .to acceptChrist. (John 3:16) We should bewareof the church that adopts some peculiardoctrine that sets it apart, and thenmakes the issue a "stock in trade" toproselyte members from other churches.

Continually there come to our desklengthy manuscripts which purport to besome "new revelation." For example oneparty wrote: "I know the very name ofthe antichrist, and I don't mean maybe."It was intimated that I should at once fallin line and espouse this "revelation" orbe definitely out of line with God.

The fact that apparently some goodmen allow thmselves to come under de-lusions is sad. John Alexander Dowiewas the greatest man of his time. Single-handed within a few years' time hefought and won 100,000 people to apos-tolic Christianity. Then he came underthe delusion that he was Elijah the

prophet. Tragedy and failure followedswift and sure. As another more recentwe see the sorry spectacle of the son ofa founder of a respected church labor-ing under delusions of grandeur, believ-ing and avowing himself to be the "kingof the world." Recently he has travelledaround the world announcing himselfas head of the nations. He set crowns onhis head and made startling pronounce-ments of doom upon those who hesitateto accept his remarkable claims. He hasannounced himself as the next presidentof the United States and respectfullysolicits your vote. Though the only cre-dentials to his astounding claims is hisown word, yet apparently he has suc-ceeded in getting a following, albeit asmall one.

THE TRUE SUPERNATURALMINISTRY

God has given us the ministry of de-liverance. We have the Bible ministry ofmiracles and the nine gifts of the Spirit. The Bible has given us enough to satisfyall legitimate desire for the miraculous. Our calling is not to sensationalism. Whyshould we desire to astound the world? The' word of God has shown that in thelast days there will be false cults, se-ducers and strange doctrines rampant.Men deceiving and being deceived. Nodevout Christian wants to become en-tangled in these.

Third: Choose a church that believesin the supernatural, hut at the same timemake certain it is sound Scripturally; onethat does not make a play for the spectac-ular and for sensationalism, nor indulgesin fanatical controversy over a minordoctrine; one that in no way oflends thedignity of the gospel, yet a church whichstands squarely for the operation of thenine gifts of the Spirit.

4. A CHURCH THAT BELIEVESIN WORLD EVANGELISM

The first words of the Great Commis-sion are "Go ye therefore into all theworld and preach the gospel to everycreature." That is our pre-eminent re-sponsibility. The church is not to merelyprovide a social program where peoplecan enjoy each other's company. Itshould, to a certain extent, provide that, but that is not its chief aim. Neitherdid Christ create the church to instituteworld reform. Its members should voteright and do their best to improve con-ditions around them but they should notdissipate their energies on politics. Theyhave a greater mission world evangel-ization. The church should watch for,and cooperate with such means that Godis using to reach the nations with the gos-pel. God is raising men up with the min-istry of miracles for the purpose ofreaching the masses of the heathen.God's people should back this great workwith their prayers, with their materialsubstance, and all that they have. Af-filiate yourself with the group that be-lieves in this.

THE VOICE OF HEALING March, 1960

Today we see the frightening potential-ities of the hydrogen bomb and intercon-tinental missiles. We know the time isshort. That we are in a race againsttime. Jesus said, "When this gospel ofthe kingdom is preached as a witness un-to all nations then shall the end come."(Matt. 24:14) A church that drags itsheels on fulfilling its obligation to theLord's command is not a group to berecommended. The hour has come whenthose of like faith must arise, and jointheir hearts and faith together and getthe job done. We must "work while it isyet day, for the night cometh when noman can work."

Fourth: Join a church that believeswholeheartedly in the great commissionand whose chief goal is to contribute itsfull part to the evangelizing of thenations.

(WHYTE, continued front page 7)

Rev. Whyte broadcast over two stations inSao Paulo covering a potential audience of 12million.

this movement was a real revival! Each night, hundreds lined up to be

prayed for. Before the surprised eyes ofthe people, the sick received instant heal-ing from their diseases. The lame werehealed and ran up the aisles to the ap-plause of the audience! Deaf ears beganto hear! Paralyzed arms were made tofeel life again, and the blind began tosee! Every moment was charged with thepower of the Almighty One! Tumors dis-appeared by the hand of God, and thedemons fled at a simple command givenby the servant of God!

Rev. Juan Alvear, superintendent ofthe "World Evangelistic Association"was the interpreter, annointed by theHoly Spirit, for Brother Whyte. Therewere nights when there were tremendoustestimonies of healing, and those whohad been possessed by the most terriblecases of evil spirits, boldly went beforethe audience to tell of their deliverance!

RED CHINA WILL SOON HAVETHE A-BOMB1

According to U. S. News and WorldReport, Red China will soon have the A-bomb. Test explosions are being plannedto take place by next year, or 1962 at thelatest. This, according to world observers,is a startling turn of events. The Chineseapparently are at least six years ahead ofschedule, as of previous estimates. Thefacts are, of course, that Russia has givenRed China certain of the ingredients ofthe A-bomb, beside lending them tech-nical cooperation. This has made the dif-ference. While a successful test will notimmediately make China a nuclearpower, nevertheless, it will in a few yearsradically shift the balance of power inAsia. The leaders of Communism haveengaged in bloody and daring aggressionswithout the A-bomb. What may we ex-pect after they have obtained it? Thevery thought of which causcs statesmento turn pale, which reminds us of thewords of Jesus in Luke:

"Men's hearts failing them forfear, and for looking after thosethings which are coming: for thepowers of heaven shall be shaken."( Luke 21:26)

THE "SPY SATELLITES"This year $100,000,000 will be spen

by the U. S. to develop "spy satellites'capable of photographing Soviet mili-

tary strength. Of course we may be surethat Russia is busily engaged in the samedevelopment. "Spy satellites" armed withtelevision cameras could, within 24 hourstime, locate every ship in the world andany massed group of men. Truly the houris just ahead when there will be no placeto hide. As men then seek refuge in thebowels of the earth, the world will see thefulfillment of Isaiah 2:19.

"And they shall go into the holesof the rocks, and into the caves ofthe earth, for fear of the Lord, andfor the glory of his majesty, wherhe ariseth to shake terribly theearth."

UNIVERSALIST AND UNITARIANCHURCHES TO MERGE IN 1961

Announcement has just been madethat the Universalist Church has consurd-

mated plans to merge with the UnitarianChurch. The latter church utterly deniesthe divinity of Jesus Christ, while theformer teaches that everybody, includingthe devil, will be saved! It is an instruc-tive lesson to observe thc final Apostacyresulting in a church that rejected Christ'swarning of the reality of hell and judg-ment. The Universalist Church in join-ing the Unitarians, now has become partof a group which has been notorious intheir opposition to Christ and His divin-ity.

A NEW ANTICHRIST IN NIGERIAA new antichrist has risen in Nigeria

by the name of Emmanuel Adumosu. Heclaims he is the reincarnated Christ, thereby adding onc more to the long listof pretenders in history. who haveusurped the name of Christ. Here are hisclaims, according to thc account inNigeria's Dram:

"I am he. I am Jesus Christ, the veryone whose second coming was foretold inthe New Testament. I have come, andthose who believe in me will have ever-lasting life and joy. I am the missing linkof the Trinity. I have come to prepare thefaithful for the judgment day."

Since he believes he is the Christ, heconsiders himself free to make his ownlaws. The Bible says let every man bethe husband of one wife, but Adumosunow has seven wives, and plans to addmore to his harem.

His manner of initiating new disciplesis simple. He declares: "After I haveflogged you nine times with my cane, youwill forget your family and friends andfollow me. All my disciples are floggednine times. The flogging is the baptism,a would-be disciple must receive, beforehe is allowed to follow me."

Clearly this megalomaniac by his pre-tentions is another fulfillment of Matthew24:23-24:

"Then if any man shall say untoyou, Lo, here is Christ, or there;believe it not. For there shall arisefalse Christ, and false prophets, andshall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possi-ble, they shall deceive the veryelect."

JESUS CHRIST THE II IN LOS ANGELES

But we need not go as far as Nigeriato find antichrists. Los Angeles just re-cently discovered a new one. In theLos Angeles Times office a few weeksago stepped a mysterious stranger. Heexhibited an engraving of a full page ad.Would they run it in their Christmasissue the next day? The newspaper ac-cepted the ad and the money. With therush of getting the Christmas issue out.nobody took the pains to examine thead carefully. Soon 35,000 copies of thenewspaper carrying it were on the street. Finally a proof reader discovered whathad been printed. He stared in unbelief. The article was headlined "JESUSCHRIST II APPEARING." Below insmall print it declared that Christ's com-ing would be on three successive days, and of all places, in the City of Holly-wood. Red-faced, the Los Angeles Timesspent most of the night trying to get backthe copies from news vendors. The falseChrist was discovered to be an Angelineby the name of Thomas Lockyer Graeff.who is trying to petition the courts tochange his name to Jesus Christ IL

NICHOLAS BHENGU INSOUTH AFRICA

Time took two-thirds of a pagc to tellabout the remarkable work of NicholasBhengu, of South Africa, a minister whohas been mentioned in The Voice olHealing several times. The article goeson to speak of him as the "BlackBilly Graham", and, that his ministry ishaving such an impact in that nation asto be causing the conversion of manycriminals. In one service, three vans ofweapons and stolen goods were turned into be hauled off to the police. In someareas where this evangelist has been, thecrime rate has dropped a third! Under hisministry in South Africa, the greatest re-vival since the days of John G. Lake istaking place. Nicholas Bhengu has builthis work firmly on the deliverance min-istry. Motion pictures taken during theVelmer Gardner campaign with Brother13hengu show healing lines over half amile long!

QUESTION: Why did Jesus tell theman who was healed of blindness notto go back into the city of Bethsaida andtestify of his healing?

ANSWER: This miracle had been per-formed outside the city. The city ofBethsaida had come under Divine cursebecause of their refusal to repent afterthey had witnessed the great miraclesthat Jesus performed.

"Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woeunto thee Bethsaida! for if themighty works, which were done inyou, had been done in Tyre andSidon, they would have repentedlong ago in sackcloth and ashes."(Matt. 11:21)Bethsaida was one of several flourish-

ing cities including Capernaum and Cho-razin on the Sea of Galilee. Thesetowns were situated at the crossroads ofworld trade. In their prosperity they hadno time to heed the message of repent-ance preached by the Lord. The miraclesperformed by Christ should have awak-ened them, but apparently they weretoo preoccupied with material gain.Cities, like people, have a time of proba-tion, a time when they may find graceand salvation. There is also a day whenthat probation is ended. Bethsaida, hav-ing rejected thc message of repentance, would receive no further light. Con-sequently, when Jesus was asked to healthe blind man, he would not performthe miracle within the city, but took theman outside the limits. After giving theblind man his sight, the Lord told himnot to go back into the town, nor totell his experience to anyone.(Mark 8:26)(Incidentally the above cities includingBethsaida were completely destroyed inA.D. 70. They have never been rebuilt.Nearby Tiberias, not mentioned byJesus, stands today.)

The fact that there is a definite timelimit to the opportunity to accept salva-tion is one of the most solemn things tocontemplate. God has said, "My Spiritshall not always strive with man." (Gen.6:3) "He that is often reproved andhardeneth his neck shall suddenly be

cut off and that without remedy." (Prov.29:1)

On the other hand the mercy of Godis seen in His frequent extensions ofmercy. When the men in the Gadarenesasked Jesus to depart from theircoasts, He sent the man who had beendelivered from the legion of devils backto that country to testify to them. (Mark5:19-20)

One further thought: Miracles repre-sent God working among men. Had thesemighty works been performed in wickedSodom, the people would have repented!(Matt. 11:23) The words of Jesus wouldindicate that they who reject the minis-try of healing, sign their own death war-rant.

QUESTION: Does the devil heal peo-ple?

ANSWER: This is a question of graveimportance. The opposers of Christclaimed that Satan had power to heal.At first they had taken the position thatno miracles took place. They rejected, orrefused to believe, until they were forcedto, the blind man's testimony that hehad been blind. (.1n. 9:18) Compelledat length to admit that Christ was heal-ing the sick, the enemies of Christbrought up many objections, such as, thatbecause He healed on the Sabbath day,He was breaking the law. (Luke 13:14)These objections had little effect on themass of the people, who glorified Godfor what they had seen.

Angered beyond all sense of prudence, and feeling that their own position of im-portance in the eyes of the people wasbeing jeopardized (Jn. 11:48), theyreached tke climax of their opposition, byaccusing Christ of healing by the powerof Satan!

"But some of them said, Hecasteth out devils through Beelze-bub the chief of the devils.- (LukeI 1:15)The reply of Jesus is a solemn one in-

deed. First, He showed that if Satancast out Satan, then his kingdom wasdivided and would not stand. (Verses 17& 18) In other words Jesus categoricallystated that the devil does not heal. Christ

THE VOICE OF HEALING March, 1960

is the Healer and Satan is the defiler. Then He showed the awful danger ofattributing the works of the Holy Spiritto Satan. That- those who commit thissin, were blaspheming the Holy Ghost.(Matt. 12:31-32) For this there was noforgiveness in this world nor in the oneto come! Hence we see the extreme dan-ger of attributing divine healing to thepower of Satan. When a person showsfanatical opposition to divine healing, itis strong evidence that the Spirit of Godhas left him.

One thing is clearly evident from theScriptures. It is the devil that puts sick-ness upon people. (Job 2:7; Luke 13:16;Acts 10:38) Hence if Satan healed, hiskingdom would be divided, as Jesus said.Although the devil does not heal, never-theless, that does not prevent him fromappearing to heal. Witch doctors, devildoctors in foreign lands, and leaders offalse cults profess to heal. It is significantthat the false cults do not attempt todemonstrate the power of healing pub-licly as Jesus did. The true ministry ofhealing will not be delegated to a darkroom, but it will be manifested openly inthe manner of apostolic ministry. AsJesus said.

"If I do not the works of myFather, believe me not. But if I do,though ye believe not me, believethe works: that yc may know, andbelieve, that the Father is in me, andI in him." (1n. 10:37-38)However, it must be admitted that

there are cases in which ministers whohave practiced divine healing and whohad real beatings have since fallen intoserious error. The supreme example ofthis is Judas Iscariot. He ministered to andhealed the sick the sante as the otherdisciples. (Mk. 6:12-13) Nothing in theconduct of Judas until the time Jesus wastaken, set him apart as different from theother apostles. None of them apparentlyhad the slightest idea that Judas wouldbe the betrayer of Jesus even as lateas the last evening they were together.( Matt. 26:22-23 ) Notwithstanding, Judasat that hour had fully made up his mindto betray Christ.

That today unworthy persons shouldfit into the same pattern as Judas did,can hardly be surprising. (Matt. 7:21-22) It is a serious thing to appropriatethe benefits of the gospel and fail to bringforth the fruits of the gospel. (verses15-20)

ANOTHER COOPERATIVE WINNING THE NATIONSPROJECTEQUIPMENT FOR THE NATIONS

EQUIPPING THE NATIONAL EVANGELIST IN CRUSADES TO REACH THE NATIONS

BY H. A. DE VRIES

A typical audience that is being reached with theP. A. system.

One of the important means of speed-ing the evangelizing of the nations hasbeen overlooked the equipping of thenational. The native preacher is the manready to reach his people with the Gospelof Christ, at a minimum of cost, butin most cases he is without equipmentand his usefulness on this account isgreatly curtailed.

When I was in revival meetings inCuba for the first time, the Lord burd-ened my heart to get equipment for themission fields. In the large meetings wehad to rent P.A. systems to reach thecrowd and this cost us as much as tendollars a day. When I was back inAmerica I told the people about theneed, and when I returned to Cuba Itook with me eleven P.A. systems anda jeep station wagon, and some otherequipment. Multiplied thousands wereable to hear the Gospel through thc useof this equipment.

When I was in Guatemala the Lordburdened my heart to furnish equipmentfor the native prcachers. We sent them amotorcycle, many bicycles, gas lanterns,P.A. systems and portable light plants.

In Uruguay we did the same thing;we sent bicycles and other equipment. InBrazil we sent a big Gospel tent andequipment. Then, when I went to AfricaI saw the great need there. I came homedetermined as never before to equip thenative preacher. There was no one toplead his cause. Our missionaries whenthey come home have as much as theycan do to raise their own fare andsupport. They have neither time norstrength left to intercede for the native.

Since I have come home from AfricaI have sent out 116 of these portableP.A. transistor systems. They weigh only71/2 pounds, but have the power to reachup to a thousand people. With two

compact portable

speakers fivethousand peoplecan be reached. It is ideal equip-ment for the na-tive preacher forhe can go any-where 'with thissmall but power-f ul instrumentand preach, as he does not have to de-pend on electricity. There are many citiesin Africa which are without electricity. When a native preacher has a P.A. sys-tem and a bicycle, he is set for years, asa flashlight battery is all he needs tokeep it working.

This faith missionary service is thesupply arm of THE VOICE OF HEAL-ING in providing equipment for the na-tive preacher. Send in your offeringtoday to equip the native preacher andhe will be your substitute to preach inyour stead. The P.A. system costs about$90.00 but any amount will be welcome.

(Note: Arrangements can be madewith Evangelist H. A. DeVries, 1623Stella Ave., for a one or a few daysmissionary revival. He has many slidesand can demonstrate the portable P.A.System.)
