Ministry Musings from the District Superintendent

ANNUAL CONFERENCE MISSION STATEMENT:

Inspiring the World as Passionate Followers of Jesus Christ

So All May Experience God’s Life-Giving Love

IMPORTANT–ABSOLUTE DEALINE FOR TABLES 1, 2, 3 FEBRUARY 28th:

Tables 1, 2, 3 are the statistical tables that determine apportionments and give the annual conference valuable infor-mation as we plan the mission and ministry of the annual conference.

Unfortunately, many churches do not honor the deadline. The Bishop, Cabinet, and annual conference staff have decid-ed that this will not be tolerated any further. The absolute deadline is February 28, 2015, to submit your 2014 data.

To facilitate this, we will have available people who are willing to help you with your data entry, including myself. Most notably, our Annual Conference Director of Finance and Facilities, Archana Carey, and the Director of Connectional Ministries, Steve Hundley will be in Hawaii around the Britt Lectures time to assist any church that needs help with the data entry.

Any church that fails to meet the deadline will be listed and consequences will be considered at the next cabinet meeting in March.

Please take this message very seriously. Thank you very much.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY PARADE:

We had a terrific turnout for the parade from Magic Island to Kapiolani Park. Over 200 people from 12 churches in our district participated. Many thanks to all, especially to Roman Leverenz of First UMC, who coordinated the event!!

BRITT LECTURES WEEKEND ACTIVITIES – February 13-16:

1. Our Britt Lecturer is Rev. Lorenza Andrade-Smith, a United Methodist pastor who has chosen to live as a homeless person and ministry from the perspective.

2. Some scholarships for airfare are available. Please contact the district office.

ALSO THAT WEEKEND:

1. CLERGY GATHERING: On Friday, February 13, there will be a clergy gathering from 9-12 which will feature Rev. Steve Hundley and Archana Carey, our conference executive staffpersons.

2. TABLES WORKSHOP AND SPRC WORKSHOPS ON FEBRUARY 14. Our conference treasurer, Archana Carey, will be providing a workshop on Tables 1, 2, 3 on Saturday, February 14, from 9-11. Rev. Steve Hundley, our director of connectional ministries, and I will be presenting an SPRC training at the same time.

100% APPORTIONMENT GIVING FOR 2014!!!

I am so very proud of the Hawaii District. Once again, every church gave at least 100% toward 2014 apportionments! And once again, Kahuku UMC led the annual conference with the highest percentage of apportionment giving at about 120%.

The Hawaii District’s record of apportionment giving is unparalleled in the annual conference. It is a testament to your sense of connectionalism, faith, generosity, and commitment to the Good News of Jesus Christ as expressed through the California-Pacific Annual Conference.

My heartfelt thanks to you all.

Grace and aloha,

MESSAGE FROM SIONE LILO VAKAUTA, Hawaii District Lay Leader

“HAWAII DISTRICT, I have weighed your heart and chosen you. The NEW YEAR will hold an amazing NEW LIFE for you. I will send BIG MIRACLES into your life. It will start before midnight on NEW YEAR’S EVE. Every need will be supernaturally met.”

I know GOD is about to do something BIG - I mean major- in your finances. Before midnight New Years Eve, the miracle will begin. God has chosen you to be blessed. It will be amazing!

I AM TELLING YOU 2015 IS GOING TO BE YOUR BIG YEAR! I see things like… a BIG new house, a BIG bonus, a BIG new car, and BIG mon-ey windfalls. I see BIG plans for travel. I know it seems impossible, but…

WITH GOD, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!

Hawaii District, I know you have been through some trying times because of your health and your need of money. This year has chal-lenged you. You have been working hard to reach your goals and see your dreams come true.

IN JESUS’ NAME I say to you… DO NOT GIVE UP ON GOD – HE HAS NOT GIVEN UP ON YOU. He is a MIRACLE-WORKING GOD. 2015 IS YOUR BIG YEAR!

GOD ALSO GAVE US AN INSTRUCTION THAT WILL HELP YOU RECEIVE HIS MIRACLE BLESSING!

HAWAII DISTRICT, YOUR WORD FOR 2015 IS “BIG”… Big Miracles- Big Breakthroughs- Big Blessings!

I know that at this moment, you feel a bit overwhelmed and trapped by your daily struggles… You often wrestle with feelings of weariness and discouragement. Sometimes it seems like there is no way with a successful career. You need a BIG MIRACLE THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

MIRACLES DO NOT JUST HAPPEN-THEY ARE RELEASED!

Hawaii District, when our faith touches God through an act of obedience, He always responds. God is looking for men and women who will obey his voice and boldly act on their faith.

Hebrews, Chapter 11 says, “faith cometh by hearing.” THE SEED OF FAITH comes by hearing God’s Word, but the POWER OF FAITH is released through an act of obedience - A BOLD ACT OF FAITH! Often, God’s instruction for an ACT OF FAITH does not seem to make sense – but by obeying God, you step into a whole NEW LEVEL OF BLESSING and POWER. … OBNSTACLES WILL MELT AWAY…

Moses understood the power of an ACT OF FAITH. When the children of Israel were trapped between the Egyptian Army and the Red Sea, Moses needed a MIRACLE FROM GOD – and it had to be SOMETHING REALLY BIG!

God told Moses to stretch out his rod over the Red Sea. This did not make any sense. There was nothing special about the rod; it was just a piece of wood. But, it was the ACT OF FAITH God was looking for to release His delivering power. MOSES OBEYED, GOD PARTED THE WA-TERS, AND THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL WERE SAVED!

MOSES GOT MIRACLE RESULTS BECAUSE HE WAS WILLING TO

ACT ON HIS FAITH.

Hawaii District, you have been through so much. But each time you obeyed God and acted on your faith. God was moved by your obe-dience. Your need was met and your faith grew. NOW YOUR FAITH IS READY FOR THIS BIG MIRACLE MOMENT – THE BIGGEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE!

REMEMBER, BIG MIRACLES ARE ALWAYS GOD’S IDEA!

*It was God’s idea to speak to Moses from the burning bush.

*It was God’s idea to send 10 plagues to Egypt so that God’s people could be set free.

*It was God’s idea to stretch out the rod over the Red Sea for Israel’s deliverance.

What I am about to share with you is not man’s idea. It is GOD’S IDEA. It is an idea that will STRETCH YOUR FAITH and take you to a new place of BLESSING AND PROSPERITY. It is an idea that will END YOUR STRUGGLES and give you VICTORY and PROSPERITY!

HERE IS THE SECOND PART OF THE PROPHETIC WORD GOD GAVE ME FOR YOU THIS YEAR 2015

“My Son, Hawaii District, the coming year will be a time of BIG MIRACLES for you. 2015 will be your season of OVERFLOW. I say to you, do not look back, but look ahead. BEHOLD, I DO A NEW THING. As you obey ME in FAITH, BIG BLESSINGS shall come forth as springs in a desert. Obey me, and I will give you ALL YOU HAVE DESIRED AND MORE! Obey my instruction, and I WILL CAUSE THE BARREN PLACES OF YOUR LIFE TO BLOSSOM LIKE A ROSE. You will walk in a river of blessing, flowing with success and prosperity. I have chosen you… but now you must choose. HONOR ME WITH YOUR FAITH AND I WILL HONOR YOU,” saith God.

WE LOVE YOU HAWAII DISTRICT SIONE LILO VAKAUTA
