The Project
Purpose of Today’s Presentation
• To bring parents fully up to speed with the latest status of the build
• To share plans and confirm key project milestones
• To help answer any questions and address any concerns
Project Overview
Existing Building
The Plan
• The new build will accommodate 600 pupils aged 11-16 years old
• Existing Palingswick House will be refurbished
• The forecourt will become the main playground
• A four storey extension will be built to the rear of the site
• Gross internal area will be 4323m2
• Full plans available on school website shortly
Progress
The building contract was signed by both parties on 9th December 2014
Ground works immediately followed contract signature
• Ground remediation works began prior to contract signature on 1st September 2014
• We continue to work closely with LBHF, The EA and Specialists in Land Contamination (SiLC) throughout the remediation process

• GROUND WORKS– Piling – Fabrication of pile cages and pile cap cages– Cutting down piles and blinding pile caps
• Scaffold erection to Palingswick House• Window and brick repair surveys of PH• Soft Strip of Palingswick House

• Complete scaffold erection to existing building• Internal strip and demolition including
temporary works of existing building• Pile trimming and pile cap construction• Drainage• Ground floor slab preparation• Palingswick window and brick repair
Contracted Milestones• The new building at rear is contracted to complete 2nd Dec 2015 • Earliest date for occupation of new build is 18th Dec 2015• The principal contractor is contracted to provide temporary
accommodation (10 classrooms) at Palingswick House by the 1st Sep 2015 if needed to accommodate 240 pupils
• The contract programme currently shows that the refurbishment of Palingswick House will complete by 26th October 15
• However, the team is currently looking at ways to accelerate the refurbishment works so Palingswick House itself can provide some or all of the required accommodation and be occupied by 1st Sep 15
• The contingency plan for temporary accommodation is discussed on the following page…
Temporary Accommodation
• If necessary, 240 pupils will be accommodated in temporary accommodation on the Palingswick House site from 1st Sep 2015 to Dec 2015.
• 240 pupils will remain at Bridge Avenue until Dec 2015
• 120 pupils will be on the Cambridge Grove site until Dec 2015
• 8 Titan Units will be installed at Palingswick House, including science labs
• Early delivery of the lodge in the forecourt of Palingswick House will provide two additional classroom spaces
• The contractor hopes to accelerate the refurbishment of Palingswick House so it’s ready by by 1ST September 2015
• The temporary solution may be a combination of Titan units, the lodge and some classrooms in Palingswick House
