In William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, the play was generally set during the Elizabethan Era. During these times, society was very patriarchal in a sense that women were usually inferior to men. This can be evident on Shakespeare’s classical piece where the Athenian society is controlled by a king and there are laws and penalties if daughters will not obey the orders of their fathers. This time, it is the Elizabethan women’s turn to be put under the spotlight. The goal of the project is to examine the personalities of Hermia, Helena, Titania and Hippolyta in the context of the Elizabethan society. It will show how the Elizabethan society plays a big part in their actions and how some of them actually do not conform to it. Another part of the project will feature the costumes of the female characters in the play. Their costumes will reflect on their characters and personalities at the same time be historically accurate to the kind of clothes Elizabethan usually wore b
