THERMOMETER

KINDS OF THERMOMETER
Many kinds of thermometer are:
a) Clinic thermometer
b) Wall thermometer
c) Six- Bellani Maximum and Minimum thermometer
A. CLINIC THERMOMETERIn clinic thermometer there is
found the part of capillary tube which is narrowing. It is meant in order to mercury which has shown the number which ha been measured, it doesn’t decrease it self. So, the reading of body temperature can be done after the thermometer is taken from under tongue or arm. For decrease the mercury thermometer, it must be fluttered.
Clinic thermometer is thermometer for measure human body temperature. Liquid for fill this tube is mercury. The scale of this thermometer is between 35° and 42°, because remember human temperature never less than 35° and more than 42°. The accurate from this thermometer is to reach 0,1° C.
B. WALL THERMOMETER
This wall thermometer of the measurement has two measurement scales, those are Celsius and Fahrenheit scales.
Wall thermometer is thermometer for measure room thermometer. Usually, the thermometer is set on straight position on the wall in a room.
C. SIX- BELLANI MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM THERMOMETER
This thermometer is used to measure a maximum temperature, mainly inside glass house used for plantation as research object.
the thermometer was found by James Six (1731- 1793) an English scientist in the last of 18th century then it developed by Angelo Bellani. As show in the figure 2.5, the thermometer consists of alcohol (now it is used creosote oil), mercury, and small steel pointer which is a equipped by light spring as its holder.
ADVANTAGE OF ALCOHOL AND MERCURY THERMOMETERS
Advantage of:
a) Alcohol thermometer
- alcohol is cheaper than mercury
- it can measure a low temperature (130°), because its freezing point is low
- it can measure the temperature precisely, because it has large expansion coefficient
- the expansion is regular
b) Mercury thermometer
- this is visible, because its colour is silvery shining
- its expansion is regular
- it doesn’t make wet the wall of its place
- it can measure a high temperature (360°), because its boiling point is high
- it can measure the temperature quickly and precisely
-mercury can measure low temperature (-40°)
DISADVANTAGE OF ALCOHOL AND MERCURY THERMOMETERS
A.Alcohol Thermometer- less durable (alcohol
evaporates)- alcohol can polymerise- fluid loss by evaporation hard
to avoid- lower boiling point (60 C)
B.Mercury Thermometer- display is harder to read- does not work below -39 C
(Hg freezing pount)- cannot be used for
thermograph- slow response
MAKE TO GRAPHS FORM TWO DATA: A.TOTAL a FISH
B.Growth a Papaya
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
