    Making Kongguksu (Cold Soy Milk NoodleSoup) & Dotorimuk Muchim (Seasoned

    Acorn Jelly)

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center is hosting a Korean cooking class to makekongguksu and dotorimuk muchim on Thursday, June 7.

    Kongguksu is a dish of cold noodles in a chilled soybean puree which is made of

    ground white soybeans after soaked, boiled and skinned. Kongguksu is sweet andrich in nutrition. It is a summer specialty for people who are easily exhausted fromthe hot weather.

    Dotorimuk or acorn jelly is a Korean food which is a jelly made from acorn starch.Dotorimuk is most commonly eaten in the form of Dotorimuk muchim, in which smallchunks of dotorimuk are seasoned and mixed with other ingredients such as slicedcarrots and scallion, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, red chili powder and sesameseeds.

    In this program, participants will make Korean traditional Natural Dye T-shirts as wellas learn about natural dyes. You can dye your own shirts or other decorating items. Itwill be a great opportunity for you to get a hands-on experience of Korea's traditionalculture.

    Volunteer at St. Marys Hospital with the Yeoksam Global Village Center!

    On Saturday, June 16 from 10:00 to12:00, our volunteer group will visit St.

    Marys Hospital in Gangnam to help with the preparation of medical kits,

    cleaning hospital facilities and spending time with young patients.

    Those of you who have interest in music, magic, arts or other recreational

    activities to share with children are welcome to join us!! (No prior experience

    required.)

    4. Application procedure: There is no placement test for absolute beginners but they are

    required to visit the center during our business hours (9am to 6pm) to apply. Admission is on

    a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants need to visit the center in person to take a

    placement test: reservations are required. Please make a reservation after checking the

    schedule listed below to choose a test date and time that suits you.

    If classes are all full before the application period is over, the applicants

    will be on a waiting list, if they want. There are sometimes drop-outs during the first two

    order they signed up.
