FROM THE PASTOR
Want to see your family at their most honest? Come to the dinner table. Alone with family, hungry and tired, people are surprisingly open. Listen closely. Is the talk uplifting or complaining? Do we offer support or criticism? Do petty struggles bubble up as we pass the bread? Does faith have any part of our chat? It's amazing what is revealed about our family and our hearts simply by listening to table talk.
Jesus was wise enough to know this. When He joined the disciples on the road to Emmaus our Savior quietly listened. Along with their meal, the travelers shared their hearts. Then the Gospel tells us that Jesus turned the table talk around merely by "the breaking of bread". A phrase, a broken loaf, and their hearts were stirred. Suddenly Jesus the Savior was present at their meal. The two disciples heard His table talk and left that communion empowered to share the Gospel with all they met.
May we pray today to give Jesus a place in our table talk, so that our road to Emmaus will not be with strangers, but a beloved Lord and Savior.

The Diocese of Victoria donation page is live and ready to receive donations at www. victoriadiocese. org /parish-donations. All parishes and missions are listed alphabetically as they are in the diocesan directory.
The DOV business office will issue monthly statements and lump sum checks to each church. The churches will then allocate the funds in their budgets. Each donor will get an auto-reply thank you, but the churches will be responsible for any further reporting or thank-yous.

FIRST COMMUNION
St. Rose School students and SL Rose CCD students, who will be making their First Confession and First Holy Communion this year, preliminary plans are for all the students to make their First Confession on Saturday, August 22, beginning around 9: 00 AM in Church and for all the students to make their First Communion on Sunday, August 23, at 12: 00 Noon Mass.

Coronavirus Prayer In the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit. My Lord Jesus Christ, in your ministry you travelled
through towns and villages curing every disease and illness. You commanded and the sick were healed. Please come to our assistance in the midst of the spread of the coronavirus globally.
Lord, healer of the sick, stay by our side at this difficult time of the spread of the disease. Be with those who have died and be with the families who are grieving. Be with those who have contracted the virus and grant them your healing.
Lord Jesus, we pray to you to be with our doctors, nurses and all medical researchers who are helping us look for a cure. Protect them and guide them with your wisdom so that they will find a cure for this disease.
Lord, we pray also for the leaders of all the countries, that they will be one in finding a solution to this illness.
Lord Jesus Christ, stay with us when we are at home, at work and travelling. Guide and protect us in the midst of the coronavirus spreading globally. Lord Jesus, heal us, hear us and give us your peace. Amen.
