“Emirates Steel’s underlying business goal is to be an efficient and competitive producer of finished steel products. The company’s present production capacity is approximately 3.5 million tons annually”
The Emirate of Abu Dhabi is diversifying its economy to accelerate the growth of its non-oil based gross domestic product (GDP). Accordingly, the General Holding Corporation (Senaat), a public joint stock company owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi, began in 1998 the development of a sizeable and resilient steel business. Senaat’s chosen platform to implement this plan was an already existing business, the Musaffah-based Emirates Iron & Steel Factory (EISF).

Green BeltAs part of the Green Belt Project, Emirates Steel has initiated a tree plantation program around the perimeter of its fence. In the Phase 2 area, 150 palm trees have been planted together with more than 2,000 Conocarpus Erectus trees, also known as Damas trees, in addition to grass and ground cover. In total, an area of approximately 15,000 square meters has been planted.
