Second Annual Catholic Men’s Conference

April 23, 2016

Dr. Scott Hahn from Franciscan University and

Monsignor Charles Pope from the Archdiocese of Wash-

ington DC will be the main presenters at the Sec-

ond Annual Catholic Men’s Conference on April 23,

2016 at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

The theme for the Conference is “Jesus Christ, The

Face of True Manhood.” There will be opportunities for

Eucharistic Adoration, the celebration of the Sacrament of

Reconciliation as well as devotional prayers. Additionally,

exhibitors will be offering a full array of Catholic books,

CDs and DVDs, and be presenting ministry opportuni-

ties. Fathers, sons, grandsons and friends are all most wel-

come to attend.

Men, set some space aside in your busy schedules

to attend this Conference. Those who attended last year’s

conference felt that the day was very beneficial. More de-

tails will follow, but mark your calendars now.

Women’s Retreat in Wyalusing February 6, 2016

A women's retreat is scheduled at St. Mary's in Wyalusing

on Saturday, February 6, 2016, with Father Pio Mandato

and the Capuchin Sisters of Nazareth. The topic will be

Pope John Paul II’s document on the Dignity and Vocation

of Women. Registration begins at 8:30 AM; and Mass is

scheduled at 9 AM. Father Pio will give the homily/

conference on “The Call to Follow Jesus.” There will be

several talks throughout the day, with confession time

available. Lunch will be provided and the event will con-

clude at 3 PM. The retreat is sponsored by St. Mary’s

Ministry of Mercy Outreach, and there is no cost for at-

tending; but please register by calling the parish office at

570-746-1006, so that we will have an accurate lunch

count. Please tell all the women in your life of this retreat,

and make this a wonderful and spiritual girl's day out event

Leap With Us

Mark your Calendars and Sign-up

birthday on February 29th. More de-

tails about the party will be in next

week’s bulletin, but please sign up

2016 Men’s Spring Cursillo and

2016 Women’s Spring and Fall Cursillos

As we enter 2016, it is time to more seriously consider

making a Cursillo this year. The 2016 dates follow:

Women’s Cursillos—April 14-17, & October 6-9, 2016.

Grimes, Barbara Krauss, Christina Fleury for additional

details; other information and applications are on the

table at the entrance to the church.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Next week’s collection for the Catholic Campaign for

Human Development (CCHD) needs your help. CCHD

was founded to break the cycle of poverty in the United

States by funding organizations that help individuals help

themselves. With a tradition of improving education,

housing situations, and community economic develop-

ment, CCHD continues to make a positive impact in com-

munities nationwide. Your contribution will defend

human dignity and reach out to those living on the mar-

gins. Please give to the CCHD Collection January 30-31.

Rediscover Jesus

Are you searching for a deeper sense of purpose?

A clearer understanding of God’s plan for your life?

What matters most and what matters least?

—Then it’s time to rediscover Jesus.

Based on Matthew Kelly’s new bestseller,

Rediscover Jesus, our free Best Lent Ever email program

will take you on a 40-day spiritual journey to encounter

Jesus—and yourself—in a deeply personal way, and begin

(or nourish) a habit of daily prayer.

NEARLY A QUARTER MILLION POPLE

PARTICIPATED IN BEST LENT EVER 2015.

NOW IT’S YOUR TURN !

Will it be your best Lent ever? That is entirely up to you.

Lent is not just about giving things up;

Lent is about doing something—

doing something bold; becoming a better

husband, father, wife, mother, friend, etc.

We hope that this program will help you do that.

Lent will soon be upon us!

What, Lent will soon be here? We just finished

Christmas, how can Lent be so soon?

It is true; Lent this year begins on Ash Wednesday,

February 10, 2016.

But “Do Not Be Afraid” — we just received infor-

mation from Dynamic Catholic that they are offering a free

email program to correspond with Matt Kelley’s book,

“Rediscover Jesus,” that was distributed at Christmas – if

you did not get a copy, see Fr. Ed. Here is how it

works: sign-up on line at DynamicCatholic.com/Lent and

you will receive a daily email with a short video that will

guide you through the 40 chapters of the book (one each

day). This sounds great! It seems like a very simple way,

during Lent, to bring Jesus into our lives, leading to a more

personal relationship with Him. I feel that this is something

in which the whole family can participate. Not only that,

the kids can show the parents how all this computer

and internet stuff works.

rience our communities of faith and academic excellence. From Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade, our students live

Standing Up For Life

We are grateful to everyone involved in the planning, organizing, participating

(especially outside in the cold), and praying, in the annual Rally for Life at the

Courthouse last Sunday and in the prayer service and reception hosted at our

church afterward. By your actions, you have given public witness to all observ-

ers, as well as to those who saw the front-page newspaper article on Monday in

the Towanda Daily Review, about the sanctity of life. You represent not only the

parish of Saints Peter and Paul, but also, along with many other pro-lifers from

our community, courageously stand up for those most vulnerable among us.

Anyone interested in future pro-life activities and events should contact Mare Seibert 570-265-3122.
