April 2010 Thomas Green Piano, Theory Degrees and Studies: Thomas Green holds a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University, a Master’s in Performance from the Université de Montréal and a Ph.D. in Music History from Brandeis University. His doctoral thesis involved a study of the compositional process of Jean-Philippe Rameau. He studied piano under Clifford Poole in Toronto and Yvonne Hubert in Montréal and received a Diplôme d’accompagnement from the Ecole Vincent d’Indy following studies with John Newmark. Biographical Information: Dr. Green is currently Chief Examiner, Practical Subjects, at RCM Examinations. A former Senior Editor and Editor-in-Chief at the Frederick Harris Music Co., Limited, he has taught music history at McGill University and at the University of Toronto and for many years was an instructor in theory and music history at the University of Windsor. He has given presentations on a variety of historical and performance-related topics at musicological and pedagogical conferences and has appeared across Canada as an adjudicator and clinician. Dr. Green currently teaches a large class of piano, harmony and music history students at the Académie Ste Cécile and at his private studio in Windsor, Ontario. He also teaches at Euromusic Centre in Markham and at the Via Musica Studios in Mississauga. His piano students include Royal Conservatory silver medalists and finalists in provincial and national competitions. Several of his former students have gone on to musical careers. As a Professional Coach with certification from the Adler School of Professional Coaching in Toronto, Dr. Green enjoys working with goal- oriented, artistic individuals seeking renewed creative energy.
