Turn To The Living God Lori True

Verse For now is the time of fulfillment.

The reign of God is at hand. Reform your life, turn from sin, and believe this glorious news.

The Liturgy of The Word

* 1st Reading * Jeremiah 31: 31-34

The days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them forth from the land of Egypt; for they broke my covenant, and I had to show myself their master, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD. I will place my law within them and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No longer will they have need to teach their friends and relatives how to know the LORD. All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the LORD, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more.

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

* Response * Psalm 51:3-4, 12-13, 14-15

1. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your merciful love; according to your great compassion, blot out my transgressions. Wash me completely from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

2. Create a pure heart for me, O God; renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from your presence; take not your holy spirit from me.

3. Restore in me the joy of your salvation; sustain in me a willing spirit. I will teach transgressors your ways, that sinners may return to you.

* 2nd Reading * Hebrews 5: 7-9

In the days when Christ Jesus was in the flesh, he offered prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

The word of the Lord. THANKS BE TO GOD.

Whoever serves me must follow me, says the Lord; and where I am, there also will my servant be.

* Gospel *

John 12: 20-33

Some Greeks who had come to worship at the Passover Feast came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, "Sir, we would like to see Jesus." Philip went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. The Father will honor whoever serves me.

"I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name." Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it and will glorify it again." The crowd there heard it and said it was thunder; but others said, "An angel has spoken to him." Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come for my sake but for yours. Now is the time of judgment on this world; now the ruler of this world will be driven out. And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself." He said this indicating the kind of death he would die.

The Gospel of the Lord. PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST.

committee members. This is a great chance to be involved in parish life without a huge time commitment. Any questions, please call 330-748-4467. The first meeting will be on Tuesday March 20 at 7pm in the Tepeyac room. All parishioners are invited to attend.

Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!

March 18 , 2018

Jesus walked on this earth in the flesh just like all human beings. He shared the same experiences with all the emotion, pain and suffering. It is through suffering that we can gain obedience, strength, and wisdom. By turning to our faith while going through turmoil or hardships we deepen our love for God and trust in our relationship with Him. Turning to other things will result in disillusionment, frustration or at a minimum a lost opportunity to grow in faith. Jesus did not shy away from hardship. He fasted for forty days in the desert and faced His passion and crucifixion head on. Jesus asks us to follow Him. He promises to be with us, but it is our choice to take the risk to die to self for the glory of God. The title of our Lenten journey could be “A Clean Heart”. At the core of lent, isn’t this what we are striving for? This week’s Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 51) hits the nail on the head; “Create a clean heart in me O God”. Our Lenten prayer could be, “Father cleanse my heart and wash away my sins and guilt. Send your Holy Spirit to give me peace and courage and allow your joy to overcome me so I may live my life in a way to bring others closer to You.” The Lenten journey should bring us closer to God. Through obedience to our Lenten promises, we gain the wherewithal to face our everyday issues. Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection glorified our Heavenly Father and made Him the source of our eternal salvation. Let us focus the rest of this Lent to soften our hearts to allow God to clean them and to write His law of love upon them so we can say with confidence, “Yes Lord, I will follow You.” Q1. What does it mean to die to self? What do I fear most about it? Q2. How can I handle stress and turmoil in my life better?

“The Andy Griffith Show” Staring the Stardust Players at the Canal Fulton Community Theatre

Friday, April 27, 2018 Everyone loved the famous “Andy Griffith Show,” which played on television for many years. Andy Taylor was the widower sheriff of the small, sleepy North Carolina town of Mayberry. Andy and son Opie live with Aunt Bee who takes care of the family, and Andy’s deputy is his bumbling but neurotically hilarious cousin,

Barney Fife. Among Andy’s Mayberry friends is the town’s resident barber, Floyd. With virtually no crimes to solve, most of Andy’s time is spent philosophizing and calming down his cousin Deputy Barney Fife! The Stardust Players will put on three episodes that will bring together all the fun and wholesomeness of the wonderful characters that call Mayberry Home.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Family Connection Every Sunday at 10:30 am Mass, for children age 3- 2nd grade Family life is often a balancing act in which we prioritize and attend to a variety of competing needs. We learn the value of putting others’ needs ahead of our own. In family life we also learn that when we make personal sacrifices to serve others, we gain so much more than we may have lost. As you gather as a family, talk about how important it is to your family life to gladly serve one another. Ask each person to consider the last time that another family member asked for help. What was your response? Did you cheerfully try to honor the request, or did you ask “Why me?” Read today’s Gospel, John 12:20-33. How do you think Jesus would want us to respond when someone in our family asks for help? Invite each family member to make a commitment for the next week to try to respond cheerfully to requests for help. Pray together, asking God’s help with this commitment. Pray Prayer of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous; teach me to serve You as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labor and not to ask for reward save that of knowing I am doing Your Will.
