CHAPTERS: Hello all! I took a couple weeks off from writing the article and have missed you all. Kevin so graciously stepped in and did three in a row, so now I owe him immensely. I had a packed couple of weeks preparing for my first exams of this semester of nursing school. I had two in one week, which is intense. I was able to pull off a high B on one and
an A on the other. Being able to keep my head in my books here at the store is a huge relief and allows me to do as well as I do. I’ll be forever grateful for the sup-port I receive here on my quest to better me and my family’s life by becoming an RN.
On the same topic I want to extend a thank you to all the healthcare workers out there that continue to fight the good fight against COVID. I attend clinical twice a week at Soin Medical Center as a part of my learning journey. The nurses, doctors, and staff there have never ceased in their battle of this virus and contin-ue to work hard every day to help those assigned to them in the hospital setting. Seeing the devastation first hand is hum-bling, terrifying, and also educational as a baby nurse. I’ve seen nurses cry in the hall because there is nothing to be done and they are scared. Nurses terrified to go home to their families because of what they have been exposed to. I knew the vi-rus was real but, clinical for me has made it a reality. I don’t share information to scare anyone, just to pass along the edu-cation I am also receiving.
Even with the information I see here at the pharmacy and in the hospital my desire to
be a nurse is unwavering. I feel called to the profession, take joy in the chaos, gain peace at the bedside of patients, and love the feeling of helping others. I hope to never see any of you in my future job as I hope to continue to work for Soin af-ter graduation next May and that would mean you were unwell. Writing that out is unbelievable, I have been in school for four years come next May and my time here with you all is now under a year. In my college career I’ve missed family functions, my kid’s concerts, shows, pro-grams, birthdays, sleeping in, and eating dinner with my kids most nights. I have no doubt that it will be worth it when I get that diploma and am able to put RN behind my name but, the sacrifice has been great. I know everyone is making sacrifices in life, especially these days, so I know I am in good company. I appreciate you all and I will miss you all immensely when I start my next chapter.

No matter your age, health, or wealth, this is something that your family will be glad you did…it’s one way to be there for them when they need you most.”
