The purpose of this workshop is to refine the scope of issues to be taken up during Phase 3 of the Smart Inverter Working Group (SIWG). Phase 3 will consider development of additional advanced inverter functionality beyond the seven autonomous functions developed in Phase 1 and the communications protocols developed in Phase 2, and will also consider development of the foundational technical requirements surrounding operational protocols or transactional models that are needed to enable the provision of DER grid services. The workshop agenda will entail:

1) Brief review of Phase 1 functions and Phase 2 communications protocols, and of related CPUC proceedings such as DRP, IDSR, Rule 21, and CAISO stakeholder initiatives such as ESDER and DERP

2) Discussion and taxonomy of envisioned DER-provided grid services in an envisioned future distribution marketplace

3) Discussion of possible operational protocols or transaction models that could enable the provision of grid services, and what should be scoped into Phase 3 of the SIWG

4) Further categorization of additional inverter functionality to be developed over the course of SIWG Phase 3

Pursuant to Commission Decision 14-12-0425, PG&E shall hold a public workshop on its overall GRC application within 45 days of the filing date. This workshop complies with that requirement.

The purpose of this workshop is for PG&E to provide parties with a roadmap of PG&E’s GRC filing, summarize the contents of the exhibits, and answer questions about its GRC proposals. A description of cost data and models used to develop PG&E’s proposed GRC revenue requirements will be included in the workshop presentation.

The Fire Map 1 Report is being developed by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and its team of independent experts. The purpose of the Fire Map 1 is to develop a statewide fire-threat map that depicts the physical and environmental conditions associated with an elevated potential for utility-associated wildfires, and ultimately to assist in the development of stronger fire-safety standards.
