PBIS Plan for Virtual Learning

Mission Working together with parents and the community, we (Bell academy faculty & staff) will

promote a safe, respectful and responsible environment in which all students can learn and all teachers can teach through use of positive behavior support incentives.

All students attending Bell Academy, whether traditionally or virtually, are expected to uphold the rules and display positive behavior. Because we take pride in positivity, we want to be sure

that all students are showing respect, safety and responsibility at all times. In doing so, students will be able to earn PBIS incentives remotely as well.

Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions

PBIS is not a curriculum, intervention or practice, but is a school-wide decision-making framework that guides selections, integration and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students. As we move through this decision making framework, we create, adjust or integrate behavioral systems designed to support faculty/staff, students and families. Simply this decision-making framework is intended to teach appropriate behaviors and decrease inappropriate actions.

ClassDojo Points

Students are able to earn points on ClassDojo for exemplifying appropriate behavior during the instructional day. Teachers will give, and take away, points for their classes appropriately. Students are able to “cash” in their points for rewards as set forth by each teacher. The goal is to recognize students for their behavior.

To view your student’s behavior performance, you must sign up for your student’s ClassDojo account. With this account, you will be able to login and see your student’s behavior rewards daily.

Students will earn points for (but not limited to):

● Doing homework ● Class participation ● Being respectful ● Being responsible ● Being safe ● Completing assignments on time ● dressed appropriately

11

Page 12: Tiffanie Russell, Principal

● Using technology appropriately ● Listening ● Following directions ● On task/getting all you instructional minutes

Discipline and Corrective Actions

● After a violation of the behavior plan/code of conduct found in the student handbook, the teacher will complete and submit a student discipline referral form to the principal.

● The principal will notify the student and parent that the student has been referred to the office for disciplinary action.

● The principal will determine what, if any, disciplinary action must be taken. A violation of the Bell Academy student code of conduct will result in a disciplinary action and may result in corrective action as determined by the Cleveland School District 2020-2021 student handbook.

Note: Virtual school is governed by the school board and district behavior policies and violations will be met with the appropriate consequence as outlined in policy.
