Middle Mathematics - Measuring Mass

Task 1: Complete the Mathletics tasks assigned by your teacher.These will help you to revise what you already know about ‘mass’.

Task 2:Think about the answers to the following questions:

1. How could we measure the mass of vegetables/fruit in a shopwithout using scales?

2. How would this help us to check how much the items weighand cost?

Draw or write about your strategy on a piece of paper or in your book.

Task 3: Once you have done this, complete the activity - Mass in Grams. You will need toestimate and measure different items you have in your household using some scales. If youdon’t have any scales, do your best to estimate the mass of the objects or use information onpackaging to help you!

ScienceLearning Intention: We are learning to discuss currentand past developments in astronomy, space andplanetary science.

Task 1: Continue with your research that you started inour previous Science lesson, called Wk 8 & 9 Science:History of Space Exploration Research Slides. This canbe found in Google Classroom.

Add your research into the Google Slides attached to theassignment. Make sure you consider strategies to makeyour slides visually appealing.

Task 2: Think about any other interesting information you will mentionwhen presenting your research to your peers during Thursday’s Zoomlesson. You may like to show this to a family member when you are ready.

Practise sharing your screen in Zoom so that you are ready to present toyour peers on Thursday. You can view Mrs Kroie’s video for an explanationif you are unsure of how to do this.

Resilience Project - Gratitude

This is a screen free activity. Before beginning, make sure you place your iPad on charge inanother room.

Today, you will make a gratitude tree that you can display in yourroom or somewhere else in your home.

You will need;● A small tree branch● Paper● Pencils/textas● Small pegs/paper clips/string● Somewhere to put the tree - a vase or other container

What to do:1. Once you have found your branch, cut the paper into the shape of leaves.2. Think of things you are thankful for and write or draw them on the leaves.3. Then, attach the leaves to the branches of the tree using the paper clips/pegs.4. You can keep adding leaves to the tree every day or whenever you think of something

you are grateful for.5. See if you can get the whole family to join in and turn it into a family gratitude tree!6. Keep the tree on display and use it to remind you of how lucky you are.

Task 2: Log in to Seesaw and complete the activity: “Tuesday Democracy Hive” to reflecton what democracy means to you.

Middle Mathematics - Recording Mass Using Abbreviated Units

Task 1: Complete the ‘How would you measure’Powerpoint game to revise different measurementabbreviations used when measuring mass. Write downany important points you are finding tricky to remember.

Task 2: Complete the activity: ‘My Recipe Rules’assigned by your teacher on Seesaw. Make sure youinclude as much detail as you can and submit your taskto your teacher when you have finished!

Task 3: Work through the Mass Challenge Cards on the Google Slide ‘Mass Challengecards’. Remember to use the correct abbreviated units when recording your answers!

Visual Arts - Lesson 1

Today you will continue to create your Lindfield Wynne Artworkto enter into our exhibition.

Look over the artwork you started last week and answer thebelow questions to focus your efforts today:

1. Will this artwork reflect my connection to this place?2. Have I used line, size, shape, colour and texture effectively?3. Will my finished artwork fill the entire A3 page?

STEAM - Design a Kite

Spring is in the air so let’s design a kite!

This is a screen free activity. Before beginning,make sure you place your iPad on charge inanother room.

Using recycled materials, you are going to design a kite that will fly above head height asyou run with it.

Today you need to create the design and find the materials to make your kite. Somesuggested materials are:

● paper or plastic bag● sticks● chopsticks● sticky tape● fishing wire● string● ribbon

You are not limited to these items so see what you can find around your house! Whenyou find what you need, pop them somewhere safe, ready for your build time on Friday.
