Research creates excellence in environmental technology and renewable energy
Eurostat, Statistik Austria, Austria with data from 2018
www.ecotechnology.at/en
Approximately €12.8 billion will be spent onresearch and development (R&D) in Austria in2019, according to an estimate by StatisticsAustria. Thus, the R&D intensity – R&D expenditure as a percentage of the nominalgross domestic product (GDP) – increases from3.17% in 2018 to 3.19%. The comparison amongEU countries for 2017 discloses that Austria had the second largest research intensityamong the EU-28. Only in Sweden the researchintensity is higher (3.40%). Denmark (3.05%) and Germany (3.02%) are the othercountries which have already reached the EU target of 3% (Eurostat and Statistik Austria).
