Slides

Status bar: shows number of slides that is currently displayed

Scroll bar: helps to move vertically or horizontally in the pane

Has three panes– Slide pane: main working area– Notes pane– Left pane: consists of Slides tab and Outline tab

Slides Tab: has small thumbnails Outline Tab: shows content in outline format

Splitter bars

Horizontal or vertical bars used to separate the left, slide, and notes pane

Splitter bars can be drag to customize the sizes of the pane

Zoom: adjust the size of panes

Manage Files and Folders

Rich Text Format: saving a file by using the file extension .rtf allows the presentations to be read by different applications (Word) or older versions of PowerPoint

Export: it is possible to export a PowerPoint into a Word document by using the command Send To on the File menu

Print

Slides can be printed:– Print from one to nine slides per page– Print handouts: three slide per page also prints

lines for notes– Print notes pages with each page– Print comment pages along the slides– Print outline presentation

Three modes of printing

– Color, grayscale, and Pure Black and White– Grayscale: default mode

Auto Content Wizard

Preprogrammed layouts, design, and text Boilerplate text: appropriate text for the type

of presentation chosen by using the Auto Content Wizard

The presentation can be customized

Indent levels

The importance of the subtitle in relation to the title Promote: next higher level Demote: lower level To Indent

– On the outline tab, click a subtitle and press Tab or Shift + Tab or click Decrease Indent or increase Indent

– Use the outlining toolbar– Change all subtitles in a list, drag the indent marker below

the ruler to the left or right

Manipulate Slides

Add slide: – Decrease the indent to promote a subtitle– Click New Slide on the Formatting toolbar– Select New slide on the Insert menu– Click between two slides on the slides tab and

press Enter– In the Slide Layout select a slide layout and click

its down arrow a select Insert New Slide

Hyperlinks

PowerPoint presentation can create a hyperlink to – Another slide– Another presentation– Web page
