Product Lead for Financial Aid module with responsibility for all systems-related work for this module. Coordinated with other product leads and stake-holders in a large number of projects. Worked with all levels of employees across the university in this capacity.

Worked extensively on the implementation of Duke’s Self Service module. This work included the design of the Financial Aid pages as well as the creation of a ToDo process that is unique to Duke. Additionally, worked as part of the team that designed Guest Access functionality. Finally, was critical in the launch of Applicant Access functionality.

Strong understanding of the software development process. Participated in hundreds of small to very large projects at Duke. These projects included designing improvements to delivered functionality, creating ‘bolt-on’ applications, and addressing software bugs. Coordinated these efforts with all appropriate offices on campus.

Second-tier support for university end-users in various modules and systems. Coordinated Bundle testing for the Financial Aid module. Responsible for the completion of

both ‘regular’ testing as well as testing for bundle specific changes. Worked closely with all members of the SISS team on the 8.0 to 9.0 upgrade. Actively

participated in two separate PeopleTools upgrades. Very active participant in the Higher Education User Group. Member of the Financial Aid PAG

Product Lead – Financial AidPeopleSoft Consulting, PeopleSoft Global Solutions

Worked as the Product Lead within the PeopleSoft Consulting organization for Financial Aid. In that capacity, was responsible for coordinating training sessions for all FA consultants, for acting as a liaison with the Learning Solutions development teams, for communicating with the Financial Aid Product Advisory Groups and for acting as a resource for any/all Financial Aid related questions.

PeopleSoft Financial Aid - Lead ConsultantPeopleSoft Consulting, Indiana University

Led Fit Gap analysis for the Financial Aid (8.0) module at a large state University system in Indiana. The Fit Gap addressed the needs of eight separate institutions, 90,000+ students, and a multitude of careers, programs and plans.

Provided guidance on all issues, including analysis of all “fits” and “gaps” as well as recommendations for module testing, academic structure, Regulatory Releases and data conversion.

Created prototyping plans for the Financial Aid module. Instrumental in creating a prototyping calendar, in developing testing populations, in writing

testing scenarios and designing the cross module testing plan. Worked with other consultants on the project to write decision papers on several topics,

discussing specific areas with both functional and technical solutions described. Gained a great deal of project management experience on this project, leading the effort to

document the Indiana University project plan. Was also responsible for additional Campus Solutions consultants, providing oversight and assistance as needed.

PeopleSoft Financial Aid ConsultantPeopleSoft Consulting, Wake Forest Medical School

Product Lead for the implementation of the Financial Aid module. Involved with this project from the very first stages, helping the client complete their fit/gap

analysis and then prototyping. Worked to bring the module to a scheduled go-live date. Provided in-depth guidance to Financial Aid team during the initial setup of the system.

Responsible for correct setup of ISIR and Profile loads, FA Term builds, budgets, awarding, loans, authorization/disbursement and verification.

Worked closely with ELM Resources to setup and test the electronic delivery of loan information and funds.

Coordinated with all other module leads to address the unique needs of a medical school, including the setup of academic structure, level progression for students, Satisfactory Academic Progress and various tuition and fee issues.

PeopleSoft - Financial Aid - CommonLine SpecialistPeopleSoft Consulting, University of Louisville

Engaged to troubleshoot CommonLine loan issues and to create documentation for various Financial Aid business processes.

Worked as an intermediary between PeopleSoft Development office and University IT department, providing guidance and feedback on various issues.

Researched and debugged problems resulting from conversion from CommonLine 2 to CommonLine 4 file protocols.

PeopleSoft Business Process AnalystPeopleSoft Learning Solutions, Development Offices

Engaged as a quality assurance analyst on the PeopleSoft Learning Systems development team, using his first-hand knowledge of Financial Aid to assist in the design of student loan software.

Met and worked with most of the development team for the initial Campus Solutions/PeopleSoft Student Administration/Student Administration team. Maintained these relationships for the last 10+ years.

Worked to research a variety of issues, insuring compliance with the CommonLine 4 and CommonLine 2 transmission protocols

Expanded software functionality for the 7.5 and 7.6 releases. In this role, he also developed a familiarity with the evolving federal Direct Loan process.

Used his knowledge of CommonLine transmission protocols and Financial Aid business process to write, execute and update development scripts as needed.

Eventually managed two other software testers in this capacity.

Financial Aid AdministrationWorked for over 5 years in Student Financial Aid and Student Services. Moved progressively into positions of increasing responsibility during the course of that time, beginning as an Aid Officer and finishing as a special Assistant to the Director. In this final position, reported to four directors in an Enrollment Services management scheme, working to coordinate the efforts of four very different departments, each with somewhat competing agendas. Worked effectively with all levels of University management from front line clerk to Vice- President. Active in many Higher Education organizations, and worked to stay current with issues that affect this community.

Worked in a unique position with a high level of visibility within the Enrollment Services department. Responsible for a variety of projects, including operations in Student Employment and the Student Loan program.

Supervised three full time team members, and dealt with students, parents, and employers on a daily basis. Additionally, served as divisional trainer on technical issues.

Worked on the implementation of PeopleSoft’s Student Administration ERP software. Developed basic processes, and trained others accordingly. Worked with the implementation team to insure accurate setup of required tables, in addition to working with various vendors to test software after launch.

Oversaw the installation and launch of an interactive web-based job posting system. Responsible for quality control issues in a student loan program that delivered over $30

million per annum from lenders around the nation in a highly automated environment. Oversaw the administration of a Department of Education experimental project. Federal

work-study students at SMU were allowed to log hours through an electronic timekeeping system. Responsible for federal reporting on this project.

Responsible for all operations in the Student Employment Office at Texas A&M University. Supervised sed three full time staff members, a graduate assistant and six student workers.

Implemented the launch of interactive web-based job-posting system (Millenium SE) and functioned as the sole trainer for this system for the University.

Responsible for all aspects of the Student Employment Office, and worked to insure federal compliance in all areas. Maintained an online job-board that was utilized by all departments on campus for the hiring of undergraduate student employees, including all students with a Federal or State work-study award.

Developed the largest single-site America Reads tutoring program in the nation. Coordinated efforts between the Department of Educational Psychology and two local school districts to employ over 300 reading tutors in eight local schools.

Financial Aid Officer | Stephen F Austin State University Career Services Center1994 – 1996

Administered the Student Employment Center and promoted student employment in Nacogdoches/Lufkin community.

Developed expertise in the area of Student Employment, including issues involving payroll, financial aid, FERPA and community service.

Supervised four student workers and a graduate assistant in this position. Worked with the Career Services office to assist students with job location after graduation.
