Tennessee is well down the road of implementing college- and career-ready, internationally benchmarked standards. The State Board of Education adopted the Common Core State Standards in math in July 2010. This initiative is designed to create standards that are relevant and reflect the knowledge and skills needed for success in college and the workforce. The CCSS are already closely aligned with Tennessee’s existing standards. This will provide for a smooth transition allowing the DOE to have a strong support plan for educators. Find information and CCSS training at http://itunes.apple.com/us/itunes-u/common-core-standards-training/id444480425
