Book Background• Title: “Joshua” (Heb. Hoshea or Yeshua) means

“salvation” (Num. 13:8,16; Deut. 32:44)

• Authorship: Tradition assigns this book to Joshua (Josh. 24:26)

• Date: 1405 – 1390 B.C.

• Audience: The Israelites who made it through the wilderness and committed to follow the Lord (Josh. 24:16-18)
