Overview:Thisreportdetailstheworkloadanalyticssurroundingthereturn-to-throwingprogramandUCLruptureofPLAYERX,leadingtocessationofthrowingactivityonDATE/MONTH/YEAR.Inadditiontotheinsightsgatheredfromtheworkloadanalysis,thisreportalsocontainsacountermeasuresanalysis(CMA)thatwouldbuildupontheeffectivenessofthecurrentRTPprotocol.Specifically,thisreportanalyzesPLAYERX’selbowexposuretotwo(2)periodsofelevatedacute:chronicworkloadratios.Thetwoperiodsoftimewithroomforimprovementsurroundweekthree’s(3)aberrantworkloadspike,andduringthetransitionfromathree(3)dayperweekthrowingfrequency,toasix(6)dayperweekthrowingfrequency.TheCMAsuggeststhatstrictmonitoringoftotalone-dayworkloadinlieuofthrowcountinearlyweeksofrehabismoreeffective.Furthermore,theCMAsuggeststhatamoreconservativeincreaseinthrowingfrequencyinlaterweeksofrehabreducesrisk.

IntroductiontoWorkloadDefinitions:TheMotussleevemeasuresthepeakvalgustorqueofeachthrowmadeduringuse.Dailyworkloadisdefinedasthesumofvalgustorqueinaday.Acuteworkloadisdefinedasarollingseven(7)dayaverageofDailyworkload.Chronicworkloadisdefinedasarollingtwenty-eight(28)dayaverageofDailyworkload.Acute:ChronicRatioisdefinedastheAcuteworkloaddividedbytheChronicworkload.

InitialAnalysis:SeenbelowinFigure2arePLAYERX’sOneDayworkloads,ThrowCounts,andresultingACRatiosstartingonDATE/MONTH/YEARthroughDATE/MONTH/YEAR.Particularly,therearetwo(2)majorexposurestohighriskperiodsofelevatedacute:chronicratios,andsubstantialexposuretomediumriskperiodsofelevatedacute:chronicratios.Thefirstexposureoccurredafter80throwsweremadeinthethirdweekofrehabwithmuchhigherintensitythanweektwo’s(2)80throwsession(green).Thesecondexposureoccurredafterthefrequencyofthrowingdaysperweekincreasedfromthree(3)tosix(6)daysperweekaroundweek’s5and6(blue).

CountermeasuresAnalysis(CMA):UsingthetypicalOneDayworkloadsproducedbyPLAYERX,acountermeasuresanalysiswasdevised.Theprogressionconsistedofagradualincreaseindailyloadforfive(5)weeksofthree(3)daysperweekofthrowingfrequency,toaperiodizedincreaseindailyloadforthree(3)weeksoffour(4)daysperweekofthrowingfrequency,toafinalweekoffive(5)daysperweekofthrowingfrequency.TheresultingCMAdramaticallyreducestheexposuretohighandmediumriskdaysasindicatedbytheacute:chronicratio.

ConvertingOneDayWorkloads:Aftersolvingforthedailyworkloadsthatminimizeacute:chronicratios,theworkloadswereconvertedintodailythrowcountsforcomparisontotheinitialthrowingprogram.Eachdailyworkloadwasdividedbytheaveragevalgustorqueperthrowforhigheffortandloweffortthrows.

ComparingPLAYERX’sandCMAProtocols:PLAYERX’sactualthrowingprogramresultedinatotalofsix(6)highriskthrowingdayswithanACRatioabove2.0,thirteen(13)mediumriskthrowingdayswithanACRatioabove1.5,andthirty-four(34)lowriskthrowingdayswithanACRatiobelow1.5.TheCMAresultedina100%reductioninhighriskthrowingdays,a30%reductioninmediumriskthrowingdays,andadded29%morelowriskthrowingdays.Uponinspectingthedifferencesinadditionalworkloadprogressions,theCMAresultedinamoreconservativechronicworkloadprogression.Thiswasaccomplishedbyintroducingareducedprogressionofthrowingfrequencyperweek.PLAYERX’sRTPprotocolprogressedfrom3-daysperweekto6-daysperweekina8dayspan.TheCMAsuggestsaprogressionfrom3-daysperweek,to4-daysperweek,to5-daysperweek,overamoregradualperiodoftime.
