Ibawal plastik sa buong PHWe ask the national govern-

ment to enact laws and policiesthat will reinforce the initiativesof visionary LGUs and eventual-ly wean us from plastic bags, ani Sonia Mendoza ng Mother

Plastic bags are the embodi-ment of an antiquated, throw-

away mentality that we need tourgently address, ani Mendoza.

By outlawing the use ofplastic bags and other non-eco-logically sound packaging mate-rials, we substantially reduce

our waste generation, therebycutting waste managementcosts, and lessen related envi-ronmental risks such as floodingand marine pollution, di-nagdag pa niya.

It is now a good time forLGUs and businesses to supportand invest in the production ofbayong and cloth bags, pagpa-patuloy pa ni Mendoza.

As a congratulatory gift,Dong gave Marian a WorldsNo. 1 medal.

Does he set any limitationsas far as her sexy pictorials areconcerned? Not at all because Idont want it to be done to meas well, he explains. We areboth artists and only our ownindividual tastes can dictatehow far we can go. Iconic filmAt our Cinema Evaluation

Board screenings, I usuallytease my comember Tommy

Abuel by calling him Mr. Ala-mat. Hes part of the cast of theLino Brocka masterpiece,

Maynila sa mga Kuko ng Li-wanag. The newly restored film

will be shown on Saturday, 7:30p.m., at the Cine Adarna UPFilm Center (with cocktails, 6p.m. at the Bernal Gallery be-hind the theater).

Tommy shares with us histhoughts about the iconic film

and working with Brocka: Linowas very particular about pro-

fessionalism. That meant com-ing to the set on time with linesmemorized and being emotion-ally and physically prepared forthe scenes.

He was an actors director.Aside from taking care of otheraspects of production, nakatu-tok siya sa mga artista. Once,he made us go to a constructionsite to immerse ourselves. Heeven asked us to convince theconstruction workers to sell tous the clothes they were wear-ing so we could get the feel ofit. He would guide us throughthe entire process, especially inheavy dramatic scenes. He

would motivate the actor to getinto the proper emotional stateand waited patiently until hegot the emotion that he wanted.

When we made the film, noone was thinking of winningawards or making a film that

would be a classic someday. Sowhen the awards came, wewere all jubilant. When I wonFamas best supporting actor forthe film, it was a bonus for allthe hard work. The film is nowconsidered a classic because of

its content. Although its basi-cally a love story, it is set

against the backdrop of poverty, labor exploitation, political un-rest, social and moral degenera-tion. It has withstood the test oftime and is still relevant today.

Brockas legacy lives onthrough great actors like Tom-my. Kudos, Mr. Alamat! Improud to call you my friend.

    Cool Bo

NANG interbyuhin ko si AteneoBlue Eagles coach Bo Perasolmore than a week ago, agadkong ipinaabot ang pakikiramaysa kanya.

Before you get the wrongidea, wala naming sumakabi-lang-buhay sa pamilya ni Bo,nag-condole lang ako alamkong napakahirap ng katayuannya ngayon.

Sabi ko nga sa kanya, Nowants to be in your shoes, Bo!

akin, this is the start of a newchapter. Kumbaga, when I tookover, Ateneo went back toSquare One, Maramingnawalang players , yung mgamatatangkad like Greg Slaugh-ter and Justin Chua, nalimasang frontline naming, and inaddition to our woes, ang damipang injured, cool na cool eks-planasyon ni Bo na nahaharap

at that time sa 3 mabibigat naassignments sa unang lingo ngUAAP.

Basta walang injured, melaban kami.

Talo sa Buena-manong laro against NU angEagles. As I write this, kasalukuyang naglalaro ang ko-ponan ni Bo laban sa FEUTamaraws na nangungunangayon with UST sa team
