To help commemorate the state's sesquicentennial, artist Todd Williams has created paintings to represent each of the state's 93 counties. The paint-ings pay tribute to the people, land and cultures of Nebraska. The project is the subject of a NET documentary. The Fremont Area Art Association is proud to be one of nine venues that will host this traveling exhibition. The Legacy of Nebraska exhibit will be on display October 31 thru December 30. In conjunction with this exhibit, Williams will conduct a 3-day painting workshop. This is a rare opportunity to take part in a celebration of Nebraska and gain first-hand knowledge from the artist himself.

After studying painting and illustration at the Kansas City Art Institute, Williams graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Today, he excels in his ability to paint all subject matter using spontaneous brushwork and creative virtuosity. Most of the time he can be found painting en plein air. Through this discipline he has found his own recognizable voice, which is now becoming his signature style.
Williams' work has been exhibited across the US in gallery, museum, and invitational exhibitions, such as the Gilcrease Museum, the Great Plains Art Museum, Montgomery Muse-um Of Fine Arts, "The American Miniatures Show", Settlers West Gallery, The Maynard Dixon Museum, Cincinnati’s Great American Artists Exhibition, and the Oil Painters of America National and Regional Exhibitions where he has been honored with the prestigious status of a Signature Member.
In May of 2009 he won an "Award of Excellence" at the National OPA Exhibition in Santa Fe, NM., and in 2008, he won the "Second Place Award" from the American Impressionist Society in their National Exhibition at Palm Desert, CA.
The International Artist Magazine featured his work from “Vienna and Prague” in their Dec./Jan. 2008 issue. In Sept. 2005, Todd had a featured article in the Fine Art Connois-seur. Also in 2004, he received national and international recognition for his art through a feature article in Southwest Art and International Artist Magazine selected him for "Master Painters of the World" in the United States Showcase.
"Todd was encouraging and kind, yet honest with us where we needed improvement. He is a fabulous teacher! No question was too small. He made us feel relaxed. We had fun yet we worked hard. A dynamite workshop!" - Audrey Fiet
This workshop will be great
for all levels and media.

Students should bring photographs or small studies to work from. This class will focus on transferring what you see in nature or have photographed to your canvas, and still capture the emotion and mood of the subject.
You will also learn about the Spirit of Paint-ing, sharpening your skills of observation and editing, but at the same time learning that the final product should also speak of yourself as an artist as much as the subject itself. _____________________________________
