Summer 4-H Camp will be
here before you know it.
All 9 - 14 year olds (3rd -
8th graders) may attend
summer 4-H camp, so fill
out the pre-registration
form that was passed out
at your school this spring
and reserve your space
at 4-H camp by turning it
into the 4-H office be-
tween now and no later
than June 15th along
with your $40 down pay-
ment or you may pay the
full $220. Todd County
will camp with Butler,
Crittenden and Hickman
County on July 16th -
20th, 2018.The fee to
attend this 5 day camp
is $220.00 which
covers transportation,
housing, meals, classes,
recreation and much
more. Partial 4-H
camp scholarships are
available to those
campers in need. For
those applying for
financial assistance—
turn in the green
scholarship form along
with a $40 down pay-
ment by June 15th.

The 4-H Shooting
Sports season starts
up Monday, April 9th
with the 1st “Kick
off” meeting at the
Courthouse/4-H
meeting room from 6
- 7:30 p.m. The 1st
practice will be held at
the Todd County Gun
Club on Thursday,
April 12th from 6:00
–8:00 p.m All fire-
arms and ammunition
must be inspected by
a certified coach at
the meeting. Shooters
should bring ear and
eye protection and am-
munition for their fire-
arm. Come on out to the
gun club! If you miss
the kick off meeting,
you can sign up at the
first practice, but you
will have to go through a
safety meeting before
shooting.

4-H parents and other adults (18 yrs.and up) are invited to serve as camp counse-lors during the week at camp. If interested, please come by the 4-H office to apply.
The 4-H Talk Meet and Demon-
stration contest is coming up on
Tuesday, April 24th at the
Elkton Baptist Church beginning
at 12:15 p.m. Classroom winners
from the schools will compete
for the county championship and
the opportunity to move on to
the Area 4-H Communications
Event on May 11th in Lyon Coun-
ty. If you are selected in your
classroom to present your
speech at the county contest,
your teacher will register you.
If you want to sign up on your
own, be sure to call the 4-H
office by Tuesday, April 17th.
Participants will be bused from
school on Tuesday to partici-
pate in the day. All others not
in public school should arrive
by noon to register and find
your assigned classroom. Volun-
teers (18 years and up) are needed
to serve as judges and room hosts.
Call or email the 4-H office to vol-
unteer.
The Area 4-H Teen Retreat is coming soon for the 8th - 12th
grade students who signed up. The retreat is held at the West
Kentucky 4-H Camp on Friday, April 20th - Sunday, April
22nd. It’s a great weekend full of leadership, team work and
skill building workshops. Teens attending, plan to meet at the
Courthouse/Extension office at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 20th
to meet and head for camp. Be sure to pack a sleeping bag &
toiletries/towels, etc. Pick up time on Sunday is around 12:30
p.m. at the office. Bring money for lunch in Hopkinsville on
Sunday as we return home.
Hey all you teenagers (8th grade through 12th grade): Be
sure to attend the 4-H Teen Council meeting on Wednesday,
April 11th at the Courthouse from 3:15 - 4 p.m. At the meet-
ing, you’ll find out all the spring 4-H happenings and get infor-
mation on the upcoming trips! If you are interested in camp—
you must be a Teen Council member to apply as a summer 4-H
camp counselor! Any teen between the 9th grade through
the 12th grade is eligible to apply as a 4-H teen camp
counselor and spend a week at camp assisting with the
younger campers. The teen fee to attend summer 4-H
camp is $100.00. Adults (18 & up) go free!

A great summer 4-H trip for
teens is the KY 4-H Teen
Conference. Applications will be
available at the meeting on April
11th and at teen retreat. The 4
day teen trip to U.K.’s campus
(Lexington) is set for June 11–
14. The deadline for forms and
fees is quick...forms are due by
April 30th along with $100 down
payment. Total cost—$250.
Don’t forget that you can exhibit
4-H projects in the county 4-H
fair this year! The 4-H fair is set
for July 25–27. You can bring your
projects to the Courthouse on
Wednesday, July 25th to place on
exhibit and receive premium mon-
ey for your hard work. The 4-H
Fair will accept any entries that
fall into the State Fair 4-H cate-
gories. These projects must be
work that you have completed
during the 2017-2018 4-H/school
year. You can enter art work,
wood work, foods, sewing pro-
jects, folk art, leather crafts,
geology collections, insect collec-
tions, photography and much more.
If you have questions about project
specifications, please call the 4-H
office for more information. The
Kentucky State Fair is August
16th—25th this year. 4-H will send
the winning projects from county to

The Elkton 5K Run/Walk
Join the fun on Friday night,
May 11th in Elkton at 6 p.m.
at the Milliken Community
House for the Elkton 5K Sun-
set Run/Walk. Entry forms
are out and anyone may enter
to run or walk the 5K (3 mile
event). All proceeds benefit
Todd County 4-H. The 4-H
teens and volunteers will be
there working the event and
passing out water at the water
station. Get your entry in
now, get fit and support 4-H!

For 4-H Youth Development
The 4-H Aerospace Camp is set for Friday, June
22nd at the Madisonville Airport. Any youth in 6th
- 12th grade interested in learning more about GPS,
weather patterns and flying a plane should apply in
the 4-H office. This day camp is $110 per person,
but comes with a 45 minute discovery flight, 3
hours toward your pilot’s license, a tshirt and all
materials for the day. The due date for forms and
fees is June 1st. Come by the Todd County 4-H
office for an application.
The 4-H Horse Club has some important dates
fast approaching. 4-H’ers interested in at-
tending horse camp and/or the D7 4-H Horse
Show must declare their 4-H project horse by
April 15th. The 4-H’er must declare their pro-

Pictures must be uploaded. Horse camp is
June 1st - 2nd with the show on June 3rd at
Murray State’s Expo.
