The U.S. Constitution has 4,400 words. It is the oldest and shortest written Constitution of any major gov-
ernment in the world.
The oldest person to sign the Constitution was Benjamin Franklin (81). The youngest was Jonathan Day-
ton of New Jersey (26)
Some of the original framers and many delegates in the state ratifying conventions were very troubled
that the original Constitution lacked a description of individual rights. In 1791, Americans added a list of
rights to the Constitution. The first ten amendments became known as The Bill of Rights.
More than 11,000 amendments have been introduced in Congress. 33 have gone to the states to be rati-
fied and 27 have received the necessary approval from the states to actually become amendments to the
Constitution.

minology and formula usage for points, lines, planes

Algebra II: and Pre-Cal: On Monday all classes will
be testing, also reviews will be due for grade, alg 2 classes will continue lessons on linear equations and direct variation. pre-cal classes will be looking at inequalities, factoring and polynomial multiplica-tion for the week of 9/15.
Math Models
Ms. Foster [email protected] Math Models will be wrapping up the data set/graphing projects with presentations of the stu-dent's individual projects on Monday and Tues-day. Wednesday we will begin the next unit - Pre-diction, where students will collect their own data for their projects.

Science Biology/Chemistry
Ms. Nowell [email protected] Biology :Both Biology and Advanced Biology will be taking a test over the properties of water, simple chemistry and the scientific method on Wednesday. Thursday both classes will start on the chemistry of life to learn about the four types of molecules that living things are made of.
Chemistry: Chemistry students will be learning
how to read MSDS sheets on chemicals. The stu-dents will be assigned a project Tuesday, "MSDS of a Man", that will be due Thursday, Sept 25.

Principals of Technology: We will be working on
Force Vector addition and Torque calculations.
Engineering Design: We will be CADing our Iso-
metric parts using Autodesk Inventor.
English ELA I
Mrs. Boisjolie [email protected] ELAI: We will continue grammar study with an assignment due Friday. We will conclude our study of the memoir, Night, and students will take a com-prehensive written exam (short answer format). We will end the week with a video of Oprah Winfrey in Auschwitz, interviewing author, Elie Wiesel. Advanced ELA I: Students will watch Wiesel in an
interview and compare it to the book. We will study restrictive and non-restrictive clauses with an as-signment due Friday, and students will read and analyze selections from Gary Soto and Richard Con-nell.
English ELA II

ELA II: Students will continue our novel study of To
Kill a Mockingbird, and complete several close reading analysis assignments. They will read an ar-ticle on mob mentality and its ramifications. Gram-mar study will continue with an assignment due Friday.
Advanced ELA II: Students will present their multi-media presentations over their historical, per-suasive speeches each day this week. There will also be several assigned readings for homework ranging from Ronald Reagan and Nelson Mandela. These speeches will further the discussions of rhetorical analysis in class. Grammar will continue and will be due Friday.

ELA III & IV/ Writing
DC English III & IV Ms. Anderson [email protected] ELA III :English III will continue the study of Early American Literature by viewing The Cruci-ble. They have a quiz over Puritan Notes on Tues-day, and will analyze The Crucible for elements of characterization and theme Thursday and Friday in preparation for writing a test over The Crucible the following Tuesday.
ELA IV: English IV will continue working on two
essays. The first is the essay for the Tolar Scholar-ship fund and the rough draft is due Tuesday by the end of the period. The second essay is a response to typical college admission essays such as describing an obstacle the student has overcome in life. The rough draft for that essay is due Thursday.
DC English III: English III Dual Credit is revising
their Personal Narrative after working in peer edit-ing groups. The final copy is due Thursday. They will then begin their synthesis essay regarding vari-ous articles describing an expedition to Mount Ev-erest. DC English IV: English IV Dual Credit is continu-
ing Beowulf and will have a formal class discussion on Wednesday and a personal writing response on Thursday. They will then begin their study of the Middle Ages with the King Arthur legend. Writing: ELA Writing will be focusing on improv-

World History: We are beginning a new unit over
the Classical Civilizations. We will be learning about Greece and Rome, among others. There are only two weeks left in the six weeks. Stay on top of your grades. Come in any activity period for some help and chances to do extra credit essays.
Government: We will be starting a new unit over the Causes of the Revolutionary war. Many of the causes of that war have a great impact on how our Constitution is written. Social Studies DC U.S. History & DC Government
Coach Lee [email protected] Coach Lee's Dual Credit class will continue on our projects from last week. Please make note that the deadline for Government project over legislators will now be Friday instead of Tuesday. US History class will be in the library 2 days for group project assignment over civil rights. As always, make cer-tain you are logging on to Weatherford College and keeping up with all your assignment as readings.
Both classes will still have assignments and readings due for Weatherford college.

numbers 1-10. We will have a test on Wednesday over Greetings and farewells, days of the week, and numbers. Ending the week with 16th of September project Mexico's Independence from Spain.
Spanish II: Continuing with Spanish I review looking at Present Tense & Stem Changing verbs on Thursday we will have a Spanish I Review Test. Ending the week with 16th of September pro-jects Mexico's Independence from Spain.

Towards the end of the week, we will discuss what it means to do the right thing online by analyzing a fake profile in the categories of privacy, self-expression and identity, connected culture, and respecting creative works.

Meat/Cookie Dough Sales, FFA Dues, and SAE Dues are to be completed by Sept. 25, however the earlier the better to turn in dues. Saturday, Septem-ber 20, Tolar FFA will have a barn workday (9 AM-3 PM); all students housing an animal at the ag barns will be expected to help.
