My friends just call me Cherry. Cherry tomatoes are tiny, bite-sized tomato types. Most of us are red like me, but some are yellow, green or even black. Some are small as thumb tips while others are the size of golf balls. We can be eaten in just a bite or two. We grow best in warm weather, along with other tomatoes, and we love to sun bathe. We grow on vines but they’re not always strong enough to support our weight, so farmers use supports like

trellises or fences for us to grow on.

Cherry TomatoSo, believe it or not, the tomato is technically a fruit. But most people think of us as a vegetable since we’re commonly used in savory (not sweet) dishes.

Fun FACTTomatoes continue to gain weight after they are picked because they ripen from the inside out and produce more juice. If you place a tomato in the fridge the ripening process will stop.
