Cloudy with a Chanceof Meatballs 2 is the

seq uel to the much lovedfilm Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. This is ananimated childrens movie directed by Cody Cameron andKris Pearn!

We meet the lovable Flint Lockwood and his crazy friendsagain in this laugh-out-loud tale. Flint is on the mainlandafter his disastrous food-maker machine, theF.L.D.S.D.F.R, (Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super MutatingDynamic Food Replicator), started making spaghettitornadoes and other natural disasters out of food. Indoing so destroyed his home island, (Swallow Falls),forcing all the inhabitants to leave. Flint was offered ajob at Live Corp Company, owned by his idol Chester V.There is something fishy but not Subwhale going on.After a disastrous try at the scientist of the yearcompetition (which gives normal workers a chance to be a'Thinkinot', the highest level they can reach), Flint isenlisted by Chester V himself to find the F.L.D.S.D.F.Rand destroy it. He isnt supposed to tell his family or

friends about his mission, but one way or another theyfind out, persuading Flint to let them come along. Uponsetting foot on Swallow Falls they find some rather wackyfoodimals. They seem to want to kill them - but is it allas it seems...?

I went to see this because I had seen the first one, andthought highly of it, but I had no idea how good thesequel would actually be. The script was fantastic, veryeasy to relate to and full of funny jokes. It was upbeatand modern, full to the brim of happiness. It certainly puta smile on my face quite a few times during its 95 minduration :) The actual story line was very good packedwith unlikely twists and turns. While it kept me guessingand smiling, my sixteen-year-old cousin seemed to beenjoying herself just as much.Timeless appeal. Pleased me, my cousin, my ten-year-oldbrother and everyone else in the cinema. A great watchfor anyone and everyone.

    The Praying Mantis.

The Praying Mantis is part of a group of insects called theMantids. This species can go from 1.2 cm to 15 cm long. The areusually green or brown, the colour depending on the plants in theirnative habitat for camouflage reasons. The Praying Mantis wasnamed after their own bent front legs that suggest that they arein the 'praying' position. The Praying Mantis is a carnivore thatfeeds on a variety of things. Their diet changing as they grow. For

eg., when they hatch they eatflies or their own siblings andwhen they are mature theydevour scorpions, lizards, frogs, crickets and grass-

hoppers (ooh and they liketiger beetles as well)! ThePraying Mantis reproduce inawkward conditions. During theAutumn season, the malebegins a court ship dance todistract his partner but oncethis ritual is over she willinevitably bite off his head andproceed to feed on his flesh!

The female can lay anywherefrom 10 to 400 eggs thenafter waiting for a few weeksthe 'Nymphs' (Praying Mantishatchlings) emerge from theeggs baring resemblance to itsparents. A Praying Mantis' lifespan in the wild is about oneyear.

    The Southern Black WidowSpider.

The Southern Black Widow is avenomous spider of thelatrodectus genus. It is native toNorth America although it doeshave Mediterranean and European

cousins. This insect measures 33 mm longand 6.4 mm in diameter. Thespider is of a black and shiny withbright red 'blood' colored spots onits back. The Black Widow is one ofthe most deadly and vicious spiders. With the venom stronger than thatof rattle snake, a single bite couldbe lethal!

Its diet consists mainly of flies, mosquitoes, grass-hoppers, beetles,wood-lice and caterpillars....Mmmmdelicious!This carnivore is like most of itsspecies in that to catch its victims it spins a nice long sticky web andwaits. It takes two months for a female to mature enough to mate andonce a Widow has chosen a mate, reproduction follows swiftly. After mating (or in between) I suppose the female feels a littlepeckish and so, she devours her partner before laying her egg sacks.

In one summer the Black Widow can lay up to four to nine egg sackseach containing one hundred to four hundred eggs. After laying theegg sacks, the Black Widow starts the next process - incubation. Afemale spider can incubate for twenty to thirty days; its rare formore than one hundred eggs to survive this process. The female Black Widow has a life span of three years however, themales life span is significantly reduced due to the extreme hazards ofreproduction...

Valentines Day is a special holiday for everyone - and for holidayslike this, you want to look good, dont you? There are some simplewardrobe essentials that, if you know how to use them, can makeyour Valentines Day look fashion-forward and fabulous!

I have used pretty simple components for each outfit that mostpeople have in their wardrobe. If you do not have the exact pieceof clothing, then improvise and use what you do have!

    - A girly tea-dress, preferably with a collar (it doesnt have to begirly, but it does have to look very Valentines Day! A tea dressshould reach to about your knee and be floaty.)- High-Top Converse/ canvas shoes (these are not essential, but Ithink they work well with the outfits here).- A belt- A scarf- A glittery cardigan- pretty pumps

    - Your imagination (this is what creates great outfits)!

The Walk in the Park OutfitI used:A tea-dress,A pink/red short-sleeved shirt,A skinny beltHigh-top canvas shoes.

    This is a smart-casual, relaxed

outfit. It can be worn either to anoccasion or, just for mooching aroundat home. The shirt covers theshoulders of the wearer and makesthe dress look quite eclectic and

imaginative. The beltnips in at the waist, making the wearerseem slimmer at once. The shoes make theoutfit more tom-boyand are easier to walkin! I would advise you

to wear your hair in arelaxed style, to suitthis relaxed outfit. All in all, this is arelaxed and funkyoutfit!

The Retro Love OutfitWhat you'll need:A tea dress,A denim jacket,A (patterned) skinny scarf,High-top canvas shoes.

This outfit would be what I would

describe as a going shopping outfit. It is a fashionable, easy-to-wearoutfit, thats perfect for going outfor lunch (or on a date!!) The jacketadds to a comfy outfit, that

screams tom-boy. Thescarf covers the neck, which will be handy ifValentines Day is a coldday! Again, the shoesmake the outfit tom-boy and easy to wear. Iwould recommend that

your hair be worn in ahigh pony-tail or down. This is a funky, fabulous, 50s style

    outfit!

The Neat and Knitted OutfitWhat you'll need:A tea-dress,

A jumper, with a heart orother valentine's day patternA rose-patterned skinny scarf,Navy high-top canvas shoes.

This outfit is the most comfyand cosy outfit I've created. It is a warm and cosy outfit, that is perfect for aValentines Day at home. The

jumper is just enoughValentines Day to fit thetheme, and will keep youwarm. The scarf is very

pretty and really adds thatlittle extra special touch tothe outfit. The canvas shoescomplete it with a trendy butrelaxed look. I would advisethat your hair is worn in aside-plait, or just let down. This is a warm, happy andcomfy outfit - should beworn while reading Top-Mag!

    The Glitter-GlamGirl OutfitWhat you'll need:

A tea-dress,A glittery cardigan,Ared/pink/patternedskinny scarf,Shiny/glittery pumps. This outfit is strictlyfor family meals anddates (if you have

one!) Its very glittery and girly! Thecolour of the scarf screamsValentine's day while the pumps

compliment the cardigan perfectly. Iwould recommend that your hairshould be worn down or in a top knot. This is a girly, glamorous and gorgeousoutfit. If your wearing this on a date, then hed better be worth it!Happy Valentines Day readers, if youhave a date, then good luck - but youwont need it - not looking like you do!

Native to eastern Asia, this delicious-looking fruit has been cultivated forthe last 2000 years at least. Ranging from bright redto a deep purple, the Yangmei is round and about 2 cmlong, containing a single seed. It's flesh is juicy, sweet and sour, and said to taste like a cross betweena rasperry, strawberry and pomegranate. Aside frombeing eaten fresh, the fruit can also be canned, dried,

made into jam and juice while the bark from it's treecan be used to make a red dye.

Forget normal apples, these tropical 'water'apples look like they're made out of candy! Thisis due to the colour of the pear-shaped fruitswhich varies from white to blush pink. And don'tworry... these taste as good as they look!Refreshing and sweet, their glossy skin contains acrisp, juicy white flesh. Popular in Asia (especiallyamongst children), the fruit is eaten raw, juiced oradded to refreshing tropical salads.

Noni is a 10 18 cm long oval-shapedfruit grown all throughout thetropics. When ripening, it has avery strong smell (which is why it issometimes referred to as cheese

fruit or vomit fruit). However, it isvery nutritious and so, despite it'sunfortunate odour, is widely eatenon the Pacific Islands (oftencooked into a curry or eaten rawwith salt).

This tropical fruit is believed to be

native to former Indochina and Malaya. It is about the same size and shape as apeach and also has a similar fuzzy, orange skin. Inside the Santol's thickrind is a white sweet and sour pulp whichcontains brown seeds. The fruitsometimes contains a milky juice. It's

uses include being made into jam, confectionery, beverages and being added to pork or prawn curries.

OK, so maybe this fruit doesn'texactly look appetizing... but it's

definitely not something yousee every day! The woodapple gets it's name fromit's thick, hard rind whichlooks exactly like wood. It

grows in Thailand,Malaysia, Cambodia, andother parts of SoutheastAsia. Once you havecracked it open, you willfind a sticky sweet and

sour brown pulp containing a fewwhite seeds. The pulp is scoopedout and eaten raw (sometimes withsugar, for breakfast), made into

juices, jams and mixed withcoconut milk and sugar syrup tomake a special beverage. The fruitcan also be made into sweets, frozen to make ice cream or usedto make glue, dye, oil and soap.

In this issue, we got to ask costumedesigner Lindi Gander a fewquestions about her job. At themoment shes managing her art

Galerie in the south of France, butshes also worked on plenty of filmssuch as Sherlock Holmes 2 and

L'Assassinat de Henri IV' [The Assassination of Henri IV].

I did a fine art foundation course for 2 years and then studiedfilm, textile and sculpture at the University of Fine Art inLondon.

First I worked on commercials as a painter or props/setdecorator. I was also a wig maker for two years, a model maker(for TV shows) before I started working with clothing. Finally, Istarted making costumes for movies.

I think the best bit is the first day you get the brief: when you ve

had a meeting with the director - seen ideas, pictures then youstart thinking about different fabrics, techniquesall the ideasfor your next project!

Try lots of things earl on, to see how everything works, whetherits film, fashionGet a lot of experience to see which aspects you enjoy!
