Tools Required: Flat-nose plier, Torx head driver and socket/ratchet, rivet tool with 1/2" x 5/32" rivets, 3' stiff wire hook (2.5mm dia.), plier wire cutter, medium size flat-tip screwdriver, drill with 5/32" drill bit, pick hook and fastener clip removal tool.

2005-2014 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE TOP INSTALLATION TIPS

TOP REMOVAL

1 Cycle Top to mid-open position and remove quarter (B-pillar) rubber seals from frame.

2 Remove Torx screws to release quarter (B-pillar) rubber seals brackets from frame.



3,4 Remove fastener clips to release Top’s quarter retainers from frame.

5 Remove fastener clips to release side front rubber seals from frame.



6 Remove Torx screws across header to release support rail from frame.

7 Use a flat head screw driver to carefully remove staples to release Top from frame.

8 Remove Torx screws to release the side front rubber seal brackets from frame.



9,10 Remove Torx screws to release quarter and side support straps from frame.



13 Remove Torx screws to release header panel from frame.

11,12 Use a drill bit or flat-head screw driver to cut the rivet heads to release tension cables from frame.



14 Through the quarter panels, detach the fastener clips to release support flaps from vehicle.

15,16 Remove Torx screws to release headliner quarter flaps and unclip defroster plug from window.



17 Use a socket ratchet to remove Torx screws to release base bow from vehicle body.

18 Remove Torx screws to release quarter pillar rubber seal brackets from frame.

19 Protecting the vehicle’s paint, carefully force out base bow from Top compartment.



20 Carefully remove staples to release Top from base bow

21,22 Remove tension cables ends for base bow support springs and unclip cables from support bracket



23 Completely remove Top from frame

24 Transfer webbing strap from old Top and use the 3’ stiff wire hook to insert strap through sleeve

TOP INSTALL



25,26 Connect Top’s crossbow plastic retainers to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th crossbows.

27 Carefully use the 3’ stiff wire hook to insert the side tension cables through Top’s sleeves.



28,29 Guide tension cables into support brackets and connect cable ends to support springs.

30,31 Staple the existing Top lining and frame webbing straps to base bow.



32 Center position Top to base bow, line-up multiple dotted marks on the lower edge of tacking rail and start to staple center section only.

33,34 Staple left or right side first, then opposite side and continue to surround ends.



35 Carefully position the base bow into the Top compartment.

36 Install Torx screws to secure base bow to vehicle.



37,38 Install Torx screws to secure quarter pillar rubber seal brackets and Top’s quarter support straps to frame



39 Position Top’s quarter retainers to frame and install fasteners to secure.

40 Install fastener clips through the quarter panels to secure Top’s flaps to vehicle.



42 Place side tension cable brackets to frame and rivet to secure

43 Install Torx screws to secure Top’s additional side front support straps to frame

41 Install Torx screws to secure Top’s side support straps to frame.



44 Install quarter pillar rubber seals to frame.

46 Rivet Top’s sewn front side plastic retainers to frame.

45 Place existing header panel to frame and install Torx screws to secure.



47 Wrap over Top’s front corner extended edge binding and carefully staple to frame.

48,49 Wrap over Top’s front edge, postition support rail and install Torx screws to secure



50,51 Secure the front side seal brackets to frame with Torx screws and install rubber seals
